The SP7 STEAM has an automatic safety shut-off feature after a period of inactivity. If your device goes into safety mode without any apparent reason, here are the checks to perform:
- Check the water tank - Ensure that the tank (capacity 1.5 liters) is sufficiently filled. A low water level can trigger safety mode.
- Clean the device - The manual recommends regularly using the self-cleaning function to prevent limescale buildup. Fill the tank, let it heat up (2-minute wait), then press the self-cleaning button. This prevents false triggers related to mineral residues.
- Check the ceramic soleplate - Ensure that the soleplate is not obstructed. Wipe it with a damp cloth once the device has cooled down.
- Reset the device - Turn it off, let it cool for a few minutes, then plug it back in and wait the 2-minute heating time before use.
If the problem persists after these checks, the safety activation may be due to a faulty internal sensor. Contact VALBERG support to have the device checked (2-year warranty included).
