How to activate the forced flash mode on the Minolta Riva Zoom 115 compact camera?
Frequently Asked Questions - 05/04/2026
Response Notice-Facile

To activate the forced flash (Fill flash) on your Minolta Riva Zoom 115:

Press the Flash-mode/Select button located on the camera body. Continue to hold this button until the symbol * (asterisk) appears on the data panel (the LCD screen on the back). This symbol indicates that the Fill flash mode is activated. You can then take your photo normally by pressing the shutter: the flash will fire consistently, regardless of lighting conditions.

The Fill flash mode is particularly useful for reducing harsh shadows on your subjects' faces and in backlighting situations, as it forces the flash to fire even when ambient light is sufficient. Make sure your CR123A lithium battery is fully charged, as the flash consumes a lot of power. Wait for the green ready lamp to light up in the viewfinder before pressing the shutter to ensure correct exposure.

Important: Each time you turn off the camera, the flash mode returns to the previous selection (Autoflash or Autoflash with red-eye reduction). If you want to reactivate the Fill flash, you will need to repeat this procedure. Also, ensure that nothing is obstructing the built-in flash located on the top of the camera.

FOR CLOSE SUBJECTS

When taking a picture with the subject closer than 1.5m (4.9ft.), the viewfinder image and the actual film image will be different. The difference increases as the subject becomes closer, or especially when using the telephoto setting. At the closest range at the telephoto settings, the top of the actual film image is located below the close framing guide.

  • When taking pictures at extremely close distances, the green ready lamp may blink slowly, but the focus may not be accurate.
