Frequently Asked Questions - BKTR9109 BAUKNECHT

How often should I clean the lint filter on my Bauknecht BKTR9109?
You should clean the lint filter after every drying cycle. A blocked filter reduces air flow, increases drying time and energy consumption, and can damage the dryer. Open the door, pull the filter upwards, remove the fluff with your hand or a soft cloth, and rinse it under running water if necessary. Dry it before putting it back.
Where is the condenser and how do I clean it on this model?
The condenser is located at the bottom of the machine behind a flap. To clean it, open the flap, remove the condenser by turning the locking levers and pulling it out. Rinse it with water under the shower, shake off excess water, and replace it securely. It is recommended to clean the condenser every month or after 30 drying cycles to maintain efficiency.
What is the anti-crease function and how does it work?
The anti-crease function prevents clothes from creasing when you do not remove them immediately after the programme ends. It rotates the drum gently at regular intervals for up to 6 hours after the cycle. On the BKTR9109, you can activate it in the settings or choose an anti-crease option for certain programmes.
How do I empty the condensate tank?
The condensate tank collects water extracted from the laundry during the drying process. When the tank is full, the dryer stops or shows an indicator. Open the tank located in the top or side of the unit (check the manual), pull it out, pour the water away, and click it back into place. You can also connect a hose for direct drainage if space allows.
Can I use fabric softener in my tumble dryer?
No, do not use fabric softener in a tumble dryer. It is designed for washing machines only. However, you can use dryer sheets or a wool dryer ball to soften fabrics and reduce static. Add them directly to the drum before starting the cycle.
Why is my drying cycle taking longer than expected?
Longer drying times can be caused by a clogged lint filter, a full condensate tank, a dirty heat exchanger, or overloading the drum. Also check that the selected programme matches the fabric type. The heat pump technology works efficiently at room temperature, so avoid placing the dryer in a very cold space.
Do I need special installation for the BKTR9109 tumble dryer?
The dryer is freestanding and can be installed beside a washing machine. It requires a power outlet (220-240 V, 50 Hz) and sufficient clearance for ventilation. If you want to connect a drain hose directly, use the provided connection kit. Level the appliance with the adjustable feet to avoid vibration and noise.
What is the advantage of a heat pump dryer?
A heat pump dryer recycles warm air, making it up to 50% more energy efficient than a condenser or vented dryer. This reduces electricity costs and is better for the environment. It also operates at lower temperatures, which is gentler on fabrics. The BKTR9109 has an A++ energy rating, meaning excellent efficiency.
How can I reset my Bauknecht dryer if it does not start?
First, unplug the dryer from the power supply and wait for about 2 minutes. Check the circuit breaker and ensure the door is closed fully. Press the reset button if available, or try selecting a new programme. If it still does not start, consult the troubleshooting section of the manual or contact a qualified technician.
What programme should I use for delicate fabrics?
Use the Delicates programme on the BKTR9109. It uses a lower temperature and gentler drum movement to safely dry delicate items like silk, lace, or sheer curtains. For wool, use the dedicated Wool programme. Always check the care label before drying.

BAUKNECHT BKTR9109 - Adding and removing clothes during stand-by - 1

Adding laundry after the drying operation starts may cause the dried laundry inside the drying machine to mix with wet laundry and leave the laundry damp at the end of operation.

Adding or removing laundry during drying may be repeated as many times as you wish. But this operation continuously interrupts the drying operation, and thus increases program duration and energy consumption. So, it is recommended to add laundry before the program starts.

If a new program is selected by turning the program selection button while the drying machine is in stand-by, the running program terminates.

BAUKNECHT BKTR9109 - Adding and removing clothes during stand-by - 2

Do not touch the inner surface of the drum while adding or removing clothes during a continuing program. The drum surface is hot.

BAUKNECHT BKTR9109 - Cancelling the program - 1

The inside of the drying machine shall be extremely hot when you cancel the program during machine operation, so run the refreshing program to allow it to cool down.

6.11 End of program

When the program ends, the LED's of End/Wrinkle Prevention and Fibre Filter Cleaning Warning on the program follow-up indicator turn on. Loading door can be opened and drying machine is ready for another operation. Turn the On/Off/Program Selection button to On/Off position in order to turn off the drying machine.

BAUKNECHT BKTR9109 - End of program - 1

If the Wrinkle Prevention mode is active and the laundry is not removed after the program is completed, the wrinkle prevention function activates for 2 hours to prevent the laundry inside the machine to get wrinkled. The program tumbles the laundry with 10-minute intervals to prevent them from wrinkling.
