Frequently Asked Questions - EF2086 Salton

What type of oil should I use in the Salton EF2086 deep fryer?
Use a high smoke point oil such as peanut oil, canola oil, or sunflower oil. Avoid flavored oils as they may burn at high temperatures.
How do I clean the deep fryer properly?
Unplug and wait for the oil to cool completely. Remove the oil container and wash it with warm soapy water. The frying basket and lid are also washable by hand. Wipe the housing with a damp cloth. Never immerse the base in water.
What is the maximum oil level?
Fill the oil container to the indicated MAX line, typically around 2.5 liters. Overfilling can cause hot oil to overflow.
Can I fry frozen foods directly?
Yes, but reduce the food quantity and increase frying time slightly. Shake off excess ice before placing in the basket to avoid splattering.
Why does the indicator light turn off during frying?
The thermostat cycles to maintain the selected temperature. When the light goes out, the oil is at the correct temperature; it will cycle on and off during cooking.
How often should I change the oil?
Change the oil every 5 to 8 uses, or when it becomes dark, smells, or foams. Regular filtering can extend its life, but fresh oil gives better results.
Is the deep fryer safe to leave unattended?
No. Always supervise the appliance while it is in use. It is equipped with overheat protection, but do not leave it unsupervised near children or pets.
Can I use the fryer to heat other liquids?
The appliance is designed for frying food with oil only. Do not use it to boil water or heat other liquids.
What should I do if the deep fryer smokes excessively?
Turn off and unplug immediately. Excessive smoke can indicate oil degradation or a temperature set too high. Change the oil and reduce the temperature setting.
Are the removable parts dishwasher safe?
We recommend washing by hand. High water pressure and dishwasher detergent can damage the non-stick coating on the basket.
