Carrier-Grade Service Engine and Active Flow Monitoring Overview
Carrier-Grade Service Engine (CSE) is a solution that enables Juniper Networks PTX Series Packet Transport Routers to improve performance and provide flow monitoring and accounting services. The CSE2000 device is tethered to a PTX5000 router and provides support for active flow monitoring version 9. CSE2000 allows scaling of control plane and service plane, without adding components to the existing PTX routers.
After you connect the CSE2000 to a PTX5000 router, packets matching the policy criteria set for the ingress or egress interfaces on the PTX5000 router are sent to the CSE2000 device for flow monitoring.
Flow monitoring and accounting services provide the operator information about network traffic and aid in tasks such as billing, traffic engineering, capacity planning, and traffic analysis. For more information about active flow monitoring, see the Flow Monitoring Feature Guide for CSE2000.
CSE2000 Features
CSE2000 is a 2-U device with the following features:
- Pluggable x86 blades, one or two depending on the configuration, that can be independently serviced, replaced, and upgraded without affecting the operation of the other blade.

NOTE: The two x86 blades in the CSE2000 are referred to as service cards in this documentation.

CAUTION: The CSE2000 is NEBS compliant and the fan speed is optimized for balancing acoustic and cooling conditions based on the system configurations. Removing any dummy cover or removable component, such as tray or redundant power supply, changes the system air flow and might cause overheating of certain components.

The CSE2000 chassis is a rigid sheet-metal structure that houses the hardware components. Supports mounting in 19 inch rack; the CSE2000 can be mounted on a four-post rack or a two-post rack. Table 8 on page 10 summarizes the physical specifications of the CSE2000 chassis.

Environmental Requirements and Specifications for CSE2000
The device must be installed in a rack housed in a dry, clean, well-ventilated, and temperature-controlled environment.
Ensure that these environmental guidelines are followed:
- The site must be as dust-free as possible, because dust can clog air intake vents and filters, reducing the efficiency of the device cooling system.
- Maintain ambient airflow for normal device operation. If the airflow is blocked or restricted, or if the intake air is too warm, the device might overheat, causing the device temperature monitor to power off the device to protect the hardware components.
Table 9 on page 14 lists the required environmental conditions for normal device operation.

Rack Requirements for CSE2000
Before you install a CSE2000 in a rack, you must ensure that the rack complies with a standard 19-in. (48.26 cm) rack as defined in Cabinets, Racks, Panels, and Associated Equipment (document number EIA-310-D) published by the Electronics Industry Association (http://www.eia.org). Refer to this standard for details on rack size and mounting hole spacing.
When selecting a rack, ensure that the physical characteristics of the rack comply with the following specifications:
- You can install the CSE2000 in a four-post rack or a two-post rack.
- The rack rails must be spaced widely enough to accommodate external dimensions of the chassis: 3.46 in. (8.8 cm) high, 20 in. (50.8 cm) deep, and 17.27 in. (43.8 cm) wide. The outer edges of the mounting brackets extend the width to 19.2 in. (48.7 cm).
- For service personnel to remove and install hardware components, there must be adequate space at the front and back of the device. Allow at least 30 in. (76.2 cm) in front of the device and 24 in. (61 cm) behind the device.
- The rack must be strong enough to support the weight of the fully configured CSE2000, up to 60 lb (27.2 kg).
- The CSE2000 must be installed into a rack that is secured to the building structure.
- Mount the CSE2000 at the bottom of the rack if it is the only unit in the rack.
- For the cooling system to function properly, the airflow around the chassis must be unrestricted. The airflow for the CSE2000 is from front to back.

The rack or cabinet must have an adequate supply of cooling air.
-
Ensure that the cabinet allows the hot exhaust air to exit from the cabinet without recirculating into the device.
- When mounting the device in a partially filled rack, load the rack from the bottom to the top with the heaviest component at the bottom of the rack.
- Use a four-post rack or a two-post rack. The rack must have sufficient vertical usable space to accommodate the height of the device: 3.46 in (88 mm), or 2 U.

NOTE: A U is the standard rack unit defined in Cabinets, Racks, Panels, and Associated Equipment (document number EIA-310-D) published by the Electronics Industry Association.
- You must use only copper grounding conductors.

When planning the installation site, allow sufficient clearance around the rack.
- For the cooling system to function properly, the airflow around the chassis must be unrestricted:
- Allow at least 6 in. (15.2 cm) of clearance on the side between devices that have fans or blowers installed.
- Allow 2.8 in. (7 cm) between the side of the chassis and any non-heat-producing surface such as a wall.
- Ensure that the airflow vents remain open and uncovered for proper cooling.
- For service personnel to remove and install hardware components, there must be adequate space at the front and back of the device. At least 24 in. (61.0 cm) is required both in front of and behind the chassis. The front of the chassis extends approximately 0.5 in. (1.27 cm) beyond the mounting ears.

CSE2000 Chassis Grounding Cable and Lug Specifications

NOTE: The grounding lug, cable, screws, and nuts are provided by Juniper Networks.
To meet safety and electromagnetic interference (EMI) requirements and to ensure proper operation, the CSE2000 must be adequately grounded before power is connected. Two bolts are provided at the rear of the chassis for connecting the router to earth ground. Four 8-32 nuts are provided to secure the grounding lug to the bolts.
The grounding cable must be 6-AWG (13.3 mm2) or higher. Figure 4 on page 16 shows the grounding lug that attaches to the grounding cable.

CAUTION: Before you begin installation of the CSE2000,a licensed electrician must attach a cable lug to the grounding cable. A cable with an incorrectly attached lug can damage the device.

AC Power Cord Specifications for the CSE2000
Detachable AC power cords are supplied with the AC-powered CSE2000. The coupler is type C13 as described by International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) standard 60320. The plug at the male end of the power cord fits into the power source outlet that is standard for your geographical location.

General Safety Guidelines and Warnings for CSE2000
The following guidelines help ensure your safety and protect the CSE2000 device from damage. The list of guidelines might not address all potentially hazardous situations in your working environment, so be alert and exercise good judgment at all times.

WARNING: WARNING: Certain ports on the device are designed for use as intrabuilding (within-the-building) interfaces only (Type 2 or Type 4 ports as described in GR-1089-CORE) and require isolation from the exposed outside plant (OSP) cabling. To comply with NEBS requirements and protect against lightning surges and commercial power disturbances, the intrabuilding ports must not be metallically connected to interfaces that connect to the OSP or its wiring. The intrabuilding ports on the device are suitable for connection to intrabuilding or unexposed wiring or cabling only. The addition of primary protectors is not sufficient protection for connecting these interfaces metallically to OSP wiring.

WARNING: The intra-building port(s) (including the following ports, when present: DAC, External Clock, Internal Clock, T1/E1, POE Ethernet) of the equipment or subassembly must use shielded intra-building cabling/wiring that is grounded at both ends.
- Perform only the procedures explicitly described in the hardware documentation for this product. Make sure that only authorized service personnel perform other system services.
- Keep the area around the chassis clear and free from dust before, during, and after installation.
- Keep tools away from areas where people could trip over them while walking.
- Do not wear loose clothing or jewelry, such as rings, bracelets, or chains, which could become caught in the chassis.
- Wear safety glasses if you are working under any conditions that could be hazardous to your eyes.
- Do not perform any actions that create a potential hazard to people or make the equipment unsafe.
- Never attempt to lift an object that is too heavy for one person to handle.
- Never install or manipulate wiring during electrical storms.
- Never install electrical jacks in wet locations unless the jacks are specifically designed for wet environments.

Operate the device only when it is properly grounded.

Ensure that a reliable, low-resistance ground bond exists between the chassis and the rack, and that the rack is permanently connected to earth.
- Use only copper grounding conductors.
- Ensure that the separate protective earthing terminal on this product, if provided, is permanently connected to earth.
- Do not open or remove chassis covers or sheet-metal parts unless instructions are provided in the hardware documentation for this product. Such an action could cause severe electrical shock.
- Do not push or force any objects through any opening in the chassis frame. Such an action could result in electrical shock or fire.
- Avoid spilling liquid onto the chassis or onto any component. Such an action could cause electrical shock or damage the device.
- Avoid touching uninsulated electrical wires or terminals that have not been disconnected from their power source. Such an action could cause electrical shock.
- Always ensure that all modules, power supplies, and cover panels are fully inserted and that the installation screws are fully tightened.

The equipment must be connected to an earthed mains socket-outlet. - Locate the emergency power-off switch for the room in which you are working so that if an electrical accident occurs, you can quickly turn off the power.
- Make sure that grounding surfaces are cleaned before you make grounding connections.
- Do not work alone if potentially hazardous conditions exist anywhere in your workspace.
- Never assume that power is disconnected from a circuit. Always check the circuit before starting to work.
- Carefully look for possible hazards in your work area, such as moist floors, ungrounded power extension cords, and missing safety grounds.
- Operate the CSE2000 within marked electrical ratings and product usage instructions.
- To ensure that the CSE2000 and peripheral equipment function safely and correctly, use the cables and connectors specified for the attached peripheral equipment, and make certain they are in good condition.
You can remove and replace some components without powering off or disconnecting power to the device, as detailed elsewhere in the hardware documentation for this product. Never install equipment if it appears damaged.

AC Power Electrical Safety Guidelines for CSE2000
The following electrical safety guidelines apply to AC-powered devices:
- AC-powered devices are shipped with a three-wire electrical cord with a grounding-type plug that fits only a grounding-type power outlet. Do not circumvent this safety feature. Equipment grounding must comply with local and national electrical codes.
- The power cord serves as the main disconnecting device for the device. The socket outlet must be near the device and be easily accessible.
- For CSE2000 devices that have more than one power supply connection, you must ensure that all power connections are fully disconnected so that power to the device is completely removed to avoid electric shock. To disconnect power, unplug all power cords (one for each power supply).

CAUTION: The AC power cord for the devices is intended for use with that device only and not for any other use.

DC Power Electrical Safety Guidelines for CSE2000
The following electrical safety guidelines apply to a DC-powered device:
- A DC-powered device is equipped with a DC terminal block that is rated for the power requirements of a maximally configured device.

NOTE: To supply sufficient power, terminate the DC input wiring on a facility DC source capable of supplying at least 25 A at -48 VDC (minimum -45VDC and maximum -60VDC).
Incorporate an easily accessible disconnect device into the facility wiring. Be sure to connect the ground wire or conduit to a solid office earth ground. We recommend a closed loop ring for terminating the ground conductor at the ground stud.
- You must use only copper grounding conductors.
- Run two wires from the circuit breaker box to a source of 48 VDC.
- You must provide an external certified circuit breaker rated minimum 25 A in the building installation.
- A DC-powered device that is equipped with a DC terminal block is intended only for installation in a restricted access location. In the United States, a restricted access area is one in accordance with Articles 110-16, 110-17, and 110-18 of the National Electrical Code ANSI/NFPA 70.

CAUTION: Primary overcurrent protection is provided by the building circuit breaker. This breaker must protect against excess currents, short circuits, and earth-grounding faults in accordance with NEC ANSI/NFPA 70.
- Ensure that the polarity of the DC input wiring is correct. Under certain conditions, connections with reversed polarity might trip the primary circuit breaker or damage the equipment.
- For personal safety, connect a wire for earth ground at both the device and the supply side of the DC wiring.
- The marked input voltage of -48 VDC for a DC-powered device is the nominal voltage associated with the battery circuit, and any higher voltages are to be associated only with float voltages for the charging function.
- Because the device is a positive ground system, you must connect the positive lead to the terminal labeled RTN, the negative lead to the terminal labeled -48 VDC, and the earth ground to the chassis grounding points.

Prevention of Electrostatic Discharge Damage on CSE2000
The CSE2000 components that are shipped in antistatic bags are sensitive to damage from static electricity. Some components can be impaired by voltages as low as 30 V. You can easily generate potentially damaging static voltages whenever you handle plastic or foam packing material or if you move components across plastic or carpets. Observe the following guidelines to minimize the potential for electrostatic discharge (ESD) damage, which can cause intermittent or complete component failures:
- Always use an ESD grounding strap when you are handling components that are subject to ESD damage, and make sure that it is in direct contact with your skin.
If a grounding strap is not available, hold the component in its antistatic bag in one hand, and touch the exposed, bare metal of the device with the other hand immediately before inserting the component into the device.

CAUTION: For safety, periodically check the resistance value of the ESD strap. The measurement must be in the range of 1 through 10 Mohms.
- Avoid contact between the component that is subject to ESD damage and your clothing. ESD voltages emitted from clothing can damage components.
- When removing or installing a component that is subject to ESD damage, always place it component-side up on an antistatic surface, in an antistatic card rack, or in an
antistatic bag. If you are returning a component, place it in an antistatic bag before packing it.

CAUTION: ANSI/TIA/EIA-568 cables such as category 5e and category 6 can get electrostatically charged. To dissipate this charge, always ground the cables to a suitable and safe earth ground before connecting them to the system.

Unpacking and Inspecting the CSE2000
The CSE2000 is shipped in a box. Quick Start installation instructions and a cardboard accessory box are also included in the shipping box.

NOTE: The device is maximally protected inside the shipping box. Do not unpack it until you are ready to begin installation.
Before you begin unpacking the device, be sure you have the following tools and parts:
• Phillips (+) screwdriver, number 2 (not provided)
- Electrostatic discharge (ESD) grounding wrist strap (not provided)
- Mid-mount brackets for two-post mount
- Sliding rails and rail assembly for four-post mount
To unpack the device:
- Move the shipping box to a staging area as close to the installation site as possible, where you have enough room to maneuver.
- Position the shipping box with the arrows pointing up.
- Open the shipping box.
- Remove the accessory box and the Quick Start installation instructions.
- Verify the parts received.
- Save the shipping box and packing materials in case you need to move or ship the device at a later time.
After you remove the equipment from the shipping boxes:
- Confirm the contents of each box.
- Inspect all external surfaces and external connectors for visible signs of damage.
- Inspect all accessories in the accessory box.
- Document any damage noted during your inspection.
- Confirm that the platform has the correct number and type of modules for your ordered configuration.
If you detect or suspect damage to any equipment:
- Contact the shipper responsible for delivery, and formally report the damage.

Before You Install the CSE2000
Before installing the CSE2000:
- Verify that the site meets all environment specifications. See "Environmental Requirements and Specifications for CSE2000" on page 13.
- Read and understand the clearance requirements for the device to ensure adequate ventilation and enable access to the device for maintenance. See “Clearance Requirements for Airflow and Hardware Maintenance for the CSE2000” on page 15.
- Have the tools and accessories needed to complete the installation. See “Unpacking and Inspecting the CSE2000” on page 39.
- Verify that the cables you plan to use meet the specifications, and review the cabling recommendations. See "AC Power Cord Specifications for the CSE2000" on page 17. Have plastic cable ties or other means to secure traffic and power cables safely out of the way.
- Verify that the electrical supply meets all AC or DC power requirements. See "Power Specifications for the CSE2000" on page 21.

Installing the CSE2000 Chassis in a Rack
To install the CSE2000:
- Place the shipping container on a flat surface, and remove the hardware components with care.

- The CSE2000 can be installed in a two-post rack or a four-post rack. For two-post rack installations, see "Installing the CSE2000 in a Two-Post Rack" on page 42. For four-post rack installation, see "Installing the CSE2000 in a Four-Post Rack" on page 42.
- Secure the device to the rack with thread-forming screws, and place external-tooth, paint-piercing lock washers between the screw head and the mounting bracket to create a reliable low-resistance ground bond between the chassis and the rack.
- Connect power to the device.
For a standard, AC-power-equipped CSE2000, plug the supplied AC power cord into the receptacle on the rear panel. See
If you have a DC-power-equipped CSE2000, see
- To connect to a console terminal, plug the supplied Ethernet cable into the console port on the front panel.
- Power on the device. See
When you turn on the power, the power LED (green) glows. See LED details.
- To connect to your management network, plug an RJ-45 cable to 1-Gigabit Ethernet port 2 on the front panel.

Installing the CSE2000 in a Two-Post Rack

CAUTION: Due to the size and weight of CSE2000—up to 60 lb (27.2 kg) with two service cards and 44 lb (20 kg) with one service card—we recommend that you install the device with two people (one to lift and one to secure the device to the rack).
To install the CSE2000 in a two-post rack:
- Attach the ESD grounding strap to your bare wrist and to a site ESD point.
- Fix one mid-mount bracket with screws on either side of the chassis.
- Fix the chassis to the equipment rack with mounting screws in the two slots. Fix the other two mid-mount brackets on either side of the system and then secure the chassis to the backs of the posts (see Figure 5 on page 42).

Installing the CSE2000 in a Four-Post Rack

CAUTION: Due to the size and weight of CSE2000—up to 60 lb (27.2 kg) with two service cards and 44 lb (20 kg) with one service card—we recommend that you install the device with two people (one to lift and one to secure the device to the rack).
To install the CSE2000 in a four-post rack:
- Attach the ESD grounding strap to your bare wrist and to a site ESD point.
- Remove the slide rails from the slide rail assembly. You have to push the stopper down to remove the rails.
- Insert four screws and fix the slide rails on each side of the device. See Figure 6 on page 43
- Adjust the length of the two rack assemblies and fix them to your equipment rack. Ensure that you identify the left and right rack assemblies, as marked on the assemblies, and install accordingly.
- Align the slide rails on either side of the chassis with the rack assemblies, push the stopper down and slide the chassis fully into the rack enclosure. See Figure 7 on page 43.
- Insert two rack mount screws each in to the two mount brackets in front of the chassis to secure the chassis to the equipment rack. See Figure 7 on page 43.
- Verify that the mounting screws on one side of the rack are aligned with the mounting screws on the opposite side and that the appliance is level.

Connecting the CSE2000 Grounding Cable

BEST PRACTICE: The grounding points for the CSE2000 are at the rear of the chassis. See “CSE2000 Rear Panel Features” on page 9.
To connect the grounding cable:
- Make sure that grounding surfaces are clean before grounding connections are made.
- Connect the grounding cable to a proper earth ground.
- Verify that a licensed electrician has attached the cable lug provided with the CSE2000 device to the grounding cable.

Attach an electrostatic discharge (ESD) grounding strap to your bare wrist, and connect the strap to an approved ESD grounding point.
-
Remove the four 8-32 nuts from the two earthing bolts at the rear of the chassis.
- Insert the grounding cable lug on grounding bolts.
- Secure the grounding cable lug to the grounding bolts, by fastening two nuts on each bolt. See Figure 8 on page 46
- Verify that the grounding cable does not touch or block access to the CSE2000 components, and that it does not drape where people could trip on it.

Connecting Power to AC-Powered CSE2000
To connect AC power to the CSE2000:
- Attach an electrostatic discharge (ESD) grounding strap to your bare wrist, and connect the strap to an ESD point on the grounded rack.
- Locate the power cord shipped with the device; the cords have plugs appropriate for your geographical location.

WARNING: Ensure that the power cord does not drape where people can trip on it or block access to the CSE2000 components.
- Insert the coupler end of the power cord into the AC power cord inlet on the rear pane See Figure 9 on page 47.
- Insert the power cord plug into an AC power source outlet and move the clip to locked position to secure the power cord.

WARNING: You must ground the router before connecting the DC power cables.
To connect the DC source power cables to a DC power supply on the device:
- Switch off the dedicated customer site circuit breaker for the power supply. Ensure that the voltage across the DC power source cable leads is 0 V and that there is no chance that the cable leads might become active during installation.
- Attach an electrostatic discharge (ESD) grounding strap to your bare wrist, and connect the strap to an ESD point on the grounded rack.
- Verify that the DC power cables are correctly labeled before making connections to the power supply. In a typical power distribution scheme where the return is connected to chassis ground at the battery plant, you can use a multimeter to verify the resistance of the V- (-48V) and V+ (RTN) DC cables to chassis ground (see Table 14 on page 4 for the DC power input voltage):
- The cable with very large resistance (indicating an open circuit) to chassis ground is V- (-48V).
- The cable with very low resistance (indicating a closed circuit) to chassis ground is V+ (RTN).

CAUTION: You must ensure that power connections maintain the proper polarity. The power source cables might be labeled (+) and (−) to indicate their polarity. There is no standard color coding for DC power cables. The color coding used by the external DC power source at your site determines the color coding for the leads on the power cables that attach to the terminals on each power supply.
- Attach the power cables:
a. Remove the protective cover from the DC terminals on the power supply.
b. Loosen the DC terminal screws.
c. Insert the positive (+) DC source power cable, and using a number 2 Phillips screwdriver, tighten the screw to secure the cable to the V+ (RTN) return terminal.
d. Insert the negative (−) DC source power cable, and tighten the screw to secure the cable to the V− (−48V) input terminal.
e. Replace the protective cover over the DC terminals on the power supply. See Figure 10 on page 49.
5. Route the power and grounding cables so that they do not protrude or prevent access to components of any equipment in the rack. Secure the power and grounding cables with plastic cable ties, which you must provide.
6. Verify that the power and grounding cables are connected correctly, that they are not touching or blocking access to device components, and that they do not drape where people could trip on them.
7. Switch on the dedicated customer site circuit breaker for the power supply.

Connecting a Console Server to the CSE2000
To connect the CSE2000 to a management console:
- Attach an electrostatic discharge (ESD) grounding strap to your bare wrist, and connect the strap to an ESD point on the grounded rack.
- Turn off the power to the console.
- Plug the RJ-45 end of the serial cable (Figure 11 on page 50 shows the connector) into the CONSOLE port in the front panel of the CSE2000.
- Plug the other end of the cable to your console server or terminal server.

Powering On the CSE2000
To power on the CSE2000:
- Verify that the power source is operational.
- Inspect all grounding and power connections to the chassis.
- Confirm that all cable connections are secure.
- Connect AC or DC power cables, if not connected, and the CSE2000 powers on automatically.

NOTE: In case the device does not power on after connectingpower, press and release the recessed power button in front of the chassis to power on the device. You can use a small object that fits in the pinhole to press the power button.
- Monitor the LEDs on the CSE2000 to verify that the device is booting properly. The power LED is lit green when the CSE2000 is powered on.

Powering Off the CSE2000
In this procedure we assume that the device is already connected to a power source and the CSE2000 is connected to a PTX5000 router.
To power off the CSE2000:
-
To gracefully power off, enter the request chassis service-node slot slot-number offline command, from the PTX5000 Router connected to the CSE2000. Repeat the command, with specific slot numbers, to power off both service cards, which powers off the CSE2000. Here slot-number refers to the service cards in each slot, which can be 0 or 1.
-
Press and quickly release the recessed power button in front of the chassis to power off the device. You can use a small object that fits in the pinhole to press the power button.

CAUTION: Use this method only if you are unable to power off the CSE2000 gracefully. Powering off the CSE200 abruptly might cause data loss and corruption of the files that might be irreparable.

Before you connect the CSE2000 to a PTX5000 router, ensure that:
- The PTX5000 router runs Junos OS Release 13.3 or later.
- The PTX5000 router has 10-Gigabit Ethernet SFP+ PICs with 10GBASE-SR or 10GBASE-LR transceivers.
- You have fiber-optic cables to connect the CSE2000 to the PTX5000 PICs.
- Transceivers (10GBASE-SR or 10GBASE-LR) are installed in 10-Gigabit Ethernet ports of the CSE2000.
To connect the CSE2000 device to the PTX5000 router:
- Plug the appropriate cables to the 10-Gigabit Ethernet ports on CSE2000. Plug the other end of the cables to the 10-Gigabit Ethernet ports on the PICs installed in the FPC of the PTX5000. The 10-Gigabit Ethernet ports are used for data traffic.

NOTE: You can connect the 10-Gigabit Ethernet ports of a service card to any port in the 10-Gigabit Ethernet SFP+ PICs of the same FPC in PTX5000, but you cannot connect the data traffic ports of the same service cards to different FPCs.
- Connect the 1-Gigabit Ethernet ports, labeled 0 and 1, on each service card, with RJ-45 cables to the 1-Gigabit Ethernet ports (labeled (X)GE 0 to (X)GE 3) on the control boards (CB0 and CB1) of the PTX5000 router. The 1-Gigabit Ethernet ports are used for control traffic. The 1-Gigabit Ethernet ports are connected in the following way:
- First service card in slot 0 of the CSE2000 (see Figure 12 on page 56):
• 1-Gigabit Ethernet port 0 connects to port X(GE)2 of CBO in the PTX5000 router
• 1-Gigabit Ethernet port 1 connects to port X(GE)2 of CB1 in the PTX5000 router
• Second service card in slot 1 of the CSE2000:
• 1-Gigabit Ethernet port 0 connects to port X(GE)3 of CBO in the PTX5000 router
• 1-Gigabit Ethernet port 1 connects to port X(GE)3 of CBI in the PTX5000 router

Downloading and Upgrading the CSE2000 Software Package
Before you upgrade the software installed in the CSE2000, back up the currently running and active file system so that you can recover to a known, stable environment in case something goes wrong with the upgrade. For more information about the CSE2000 software, see the Flow Monitoring Feature Guide for CSE2000.

NOTE: The CSE2000 is shipped with the default manufacturing image. To upgrade the image, download the latest jflow image from https://www.juniper.net/support/downloads/?p=cse2000#sw.
To upgrade the software:
- Using a Web browser, navigate to the Juniper Networks Support Web site at http://www.juniper.net/support/.
- Convert and copy the CSE2000 image to the USB drive.
You can copy the CSE2000 image to the USB drive in two ways:
To create a bootable USB drive using the Win32 Disk Imager software, follow these steps:
a. Open the Win32. Disk Imager software to copy the CSE2000 image file to your USB drive. The Win32 Disk Imager dialog box appears.
(You can download the Win32 Disk Imager software for free from https://launchpad.net/win32-image-writer.)
b. Click the browse icon and select the image file that you want to copy to the USB drive.
c. Verify that the device drive letter matches the chosen USB drive, and click Write.
The terminal application maps every keyboard key to a code that it sends through the serial cable. Typically, pressing the Delete key on a PC keyboard does not send a DEL character.
To ensure that the terminal application maps a key to the DEL character, go to the settings dialog box of the application and select the Backspace Key sends DEL option. After you make this modification, you must ensure that the connection is opened with the typical serial parameters of 9600, 8, none, 1, and none.
You can also use Linux distributions to create a bootable USB drive. You do not need a PC for this procedure.
To create a bootable USB drive using Linux distributions:
a. While you can use any of the available conversion tools, we recommend using the dd program in Linux to convert the CSE2000 image.
In a CLI window, enter the following command at the CLI prompt to convert and copy the image:
dd if= space-< version >.< spinnumber >.img of=/dev/sdb
where
space-< version >.< spinnumber >.img is the name of the downloaded image. /dev/sdb is the name of the device drive into which your USB drive is plugged.
b. Press the Enter key to copy the CSE2000 image to the USB drive.
-
Insert the USB storage device with the latest software to a USB port in CSE2000.
-
Access the CSE2000 using the CONSOLE port to install the software.
-
Restart the device after inserting the USB storage device. The boot prompt displays the following menu:
Juniper Networks CSE2000 Install Media
- To boot from disk you may wait (5 minutes) or, press the
- Type Install and press Enter to install the software from the USB storage device.
The software is upgraded and CSE2000 restarts. The boot prompt displays the menu mentioned in Step 5.
- Remove the USB device or press Enter, when CSE2000 reboots, so that the device boots from the hard disk drive.

Activating the LOCATOR LED
To activate the LOCATOR LED, the CSE2000 must be active and connected to a PTX5000 router.
To activate the Locator LED:
- Log on to the PTX5000 connected to the CSE2000.

Run the request chassis beacon service-node slot-number on command. Replace slot-number with 0 or 1 to activate the Locator LED for the service blade in slot 0 or slot 1. For example, to activate the LED for the service card in slot 0:
user@host> request chassis beacon service-node 0 on ESC 0 ON -
Run the show chassis beacon service-node slot-number command to verify that the Locator LED is activated :
user@host> show chassis beacon service-node 0 ESC 0 ON
The LOCATOR LED is lit blue and helps you locate the service card on the rack. Press the LOCATOR button to turn off the LED or run the request chassis beacon service-node slot-number off command.

Replacing a Service Card on the CSE2000
To remove a service card:
- Attach an electrostatic discharge (ESD) grounding strap to your bare wrist, and connect the strap to one of the ESD points on the chassis.
- Power off the device. For more information, see "Powering Off the CSE2000" on page 51.
- Unfasten the captive thumb screws on both sides of the service card fully.
- Pull the captive thumb screws down. The captive thumb screws and handles face down as the service card lock mechanism is unlocked. See Figure 13 on page 64.
When the captive thumb screws face down when you pull them, the service card moves out of the chassis slightly. The service card is now disconnected from the mid plane and the cooling fan connectors at the rear.

CAUTION: Do not use too much force while pulling the handles of the captive thumb screws. Stop pulling the captive thumb screw and handles when the service card is unlocked and moves out of the chassis slightly.
- Pull out the service card with two hands using the handles in the middle of the service card. See Figure 13 on page 64.

CAUTION: As the service card is heavy, after it is unlocked, you must pull out the service card using the handles in the middle and not using the captive thumb screws.
- After you remove a service card, immediately place it on an antistatic mat or in an electrostatic bag.

NOTE: If you are not reinstalling an a service card in empty slot within a short time, install a blank service card panel over the slot to maintain proper airflow in the CSE2000 chassis.

To replace a service card:
- Attach an electrostatic discharge (ESD) grounding strap to your bare wrist, and connect the strap to one of the ESD points on the chassis.
- Carefully align the sides of the service card with the guides in the empty service card slot.
- Slide the service card into the slot until you feel resistance, carefully ensuring that it is correctly aligned.
- Fasten the captive thumb screws on both sides of the service card tightly on to the chassis. To ensure that the service card is fully plugged into the chassis, you must fasten the captive thumbscrews on both sides fully, and the handle must be in locked position flush with front ear. See Figure 14 on page 65

CAUTION: The cooling fans are connected to the rear of the service cards and if the service cards are not fully secured to the chassis, the fans might not be detected or might not function at the correct speed.
- Power on the CSE2000.

Replacing a Hard Disk Drive on the CSE2000
The CSE2000 supports Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) hard disks specified by Juniper Networks.

CAUTION: Do not remove a hard disk drive when the CSE2000 device is powered on and operational.
To remove a hard disk drive:
- Attach an electrostatic discharge (ESD) grounding strap to your bare wrist, and connect the strap to an ESD point on the chassis.
- Power off the device. For more information, see "Powering Off the CSE2000" on page 51.
- Using a flat-bladed screwdriver, rotate the lock on the hard disk drive ejector counterclockwise to the unlocked position.
- Pull the ejector handle outward to the open position.
- Carefully slide the hard disk drive out of the slot. See Figure 15 on page 66.

To replace a hard disk drive:
- Attach an electrostatic discharge (ESD) grounding strap to your bare wrist, and connect the strap to an ESD point on the chassis.
- Carefully align the sides of the drive with the guides in the slot.
- Slide the drive into the slot until you feel resistance, carefully ensuring that it is correctly aligned.
- Gently press on the drive and the ejector handle until the drive is fully seated and the handle locks in place.
- Rotate the lock to on the ejector clockwise to the locked position. See Figure 16 on page 66
- Power on the CSE2000.

Replacing an AC Power Supply on the CSE2000
CSE2000 devices are supplied with two AC power supplies as standard equipment.

CAUTION: The power supplies are redundant and you need not power down the CSE2000 if you are removing only one power supply. While removing a power supply, ensure that the other powersupply and power cord are secured and that you do not accidentally pull out the power supply or power cord.
To remove an AC power supply:
- Attach an electrostatic discharge (ESD) grounding strap to your bare wrist, and connect the strap to an ESD point in the site.
- Unplug the power cord from the power source receptacle.
- Attach an electrostatic discharge (ESD) grounding strap to your bare wrist, and connect the strap to an ESD point on the chassis.
- Unplug the power cord from the inlet in the power supply.
- The AC power supply has a captive thumb screw and a pull handle. Loosen the captive thumb screw and pull out the power supply using the handle. See Figure 17 on page 67.

NOTE: If you are unable to loosen the captive thumb screw with your hands, use a Phillips (+) screwdriver, number 2.

To install an AC power supply:
- Attach an electrostatic discharge (ESD) grounding strap to your bare wrist, and connect the strap to an ESD point on the chassis.
- Insert the new power supply and push it into the device until the power supply is fully seated.

Fasten the captive thumb screw on the power supply to the chassis. See Figure 18 on page 68.

Insert the power cord into the inlet on the power supply.
-
Insert the power cord into the AC power source outlet.
The CSE2000 is powered on when you connect the power cable and the AC power source power outlet is switched on.

NOTE: In case the device does not power on after connecting power, press and release the recessed power button in front of the chassis to power on the device. You can use a small object that fits in the pinhole to press the power button.

Observe the status LED on the power supply.
-
The LED is lit green when the power supply is receiving power and is powering the device.
- The LED is lit amber when the power supply is receiving power but is not powering the device.

Replacing a DC Power Supply on the CSE2000
To remove a DC power supply:
- Turn off the site circuit breaker for the power supply.
- Attach an electrostatic discharge (ESD) grounding strap to your bare wrist, and connect the strap to an ESD point on the device or the rack.

Remove the grounding cable from the power supply.
-
Remove the power cables from the power supply.
-
The DC power supply has a captive thumb screw and a pull handle. Loosen the captive thumb screw using a and pull out the module using the handle. See
Figure 19 on page 69.

NOTE: If you are unable to loosen the captive thumb screw with your hands, use a Phillips (+) screwdriver, number 2.

To install a DC power supply:
- Attach an electrostatic discharge (ESD) grounding strap to your bare wrist, and connect the strap to an ESD point on the device or the rack.
- Insert the new power supply module and push it into the device until the power supply is fully seated.
- Tighten the captive thumb screw on the power supply on to the chassis. See Figure 20 on page 69
- Reconnect the power cables to the power supply.
- Reconnect the grounding cable to the power supply.
- Turn on the site circuit breaker for the power supply.

Replacing a Cooling Fan on the CSE2000
Each service card on the CSE2000 has six cooling fans that are hot-replaceable. See "CSE2000 Rear Panel Features" on page 9 for details.

WARNING: To avoid injury, keep tools and your fingers away from the fans as you slide the fan tray out of the chassis.
To replace a fan:
-
Attach an electrostatic discharge (ESD) grounding strap to your bare wrist, and connect the strap to an ESD point on the device or the rack.
-
Examine the rear of the chassis. Verify that the fan is not spinning; use a flashlight, if required.

NOTE: In case of a fan failure, an alarm is displayed when you run the show chassis alarms command from the PTX5000 router connected to the CSE2000. You can run the show chassis environment service-node slot slot-number command to identify the fan that has failed in a service card. slot-number can be replaced by the service card slot number. For more information about this command, see the Flow Monitoring Feature Guide for CSE2000.
- A cooling fan has a pull handle and a captive thumb screw. Loosen the captive thumb screw and pull out the fan by using the handle. See Figure 21 on page 70.

- Insert the new fan and tighten the captive screw after the fan is fully seated. See Figure 22 on page 71.

Returning CSE2000 Hardware for Repair or Replacement
When you need to return a component:
- Determine the part number and serial number of the component. See "Locating CSE2000 Component Serial Numbers" on page 74 "Locating CSE2000 Component Serial Numbers" on page 74.
- Obtain a Return Materials Authorization (RMA) number from the Juniper Networks Technical Assistance Center (JTAC). See "Information You Might Need to Supply to JTAC" on page 79.
Provide the following information in your e-mail message or during the telephone call:
- Part number and serial number of component
- Your name, organization name, telephone number, and fax number
- The shipping address for the replacement component, including contact name and phone number
• Description of the failure
The support representative validates your request and issues an RMA number for return of the component.

NOTE: Do not return any hardware until you have received an RMA. This number is necessary to ensure proper tracking and handling of returned material at the factory. Juniper Networks reserves the right to refuse shipments that do not have an RMA. Refused shipments are returned to the shipper through collect freight.
- Pack the device or component for shipment.
a. Ground yourself by using an ESD grounding strap.
b. Follow the proper shutdown procedure for the device. See "Powering Off the CSE2000" on page 51.
c. Remove all cables from the device.
d. Remove the device from the rack, and pack it in the shipping box.
If possible, use the original shipping box and packing materials in which the device was originally shipped. If these materials are unavailable, use comparable shipping material, or contact your Juniper Networks representative for information about approved packaging material.
e. Cover the chassis with an ESD bag, and place packing foam on top of and around the device.

Locating CSE2000 Component Serial Numbers
Before contacting Juniper Networks to request a Return Materials Authorization (RMA), you must find the serial number on the chassis or component.
Most components have a small rectangular serial number ID label (see Figure 23 on page 74) attached to the component body.

Product Reclamation and Recycling Program
Juniper Networks is committed to environmentally responsible behavior. As part of this commitment, we continually work to comply with environmental standards such as the European Union's Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Directive and Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) Directive.
These directives and other similar regulations from countries outside the European Union regulate electronic waste management and the reduction or elimination of specific hazardous materials in electronic products. The WEEE Directive requires electrical and electronics manufacturers to provide mechanisms for the recycling and reuse of their products. The RoHS Directive restricts the use of certain substances that are commonly found in electronic products today. Restricted substances include heavy metals, including lead, and polybrominated materials. The RoHS Directive, with some exemptions, applies to all electrical and electronic equipment.
In accordance with Article 11(2) of Directive 2002/96/EC (WEEE), products put on the market after 13 August 2005 are marked with the following symbol or include it in their documentation: a crossed-out wheeled waste bin with a bar beneath.


Juniper Networks provides recycling support for our equipment worldwide to comply with the WEEE Directive. For recycling information, go to http://www.juniper.net/environmental, and indicate the type of Juniper Networks equipment that you wish to dispose of and the country where it is currently located, or contact your Juniper Networks account representative.
Products returned through our reclamation process are recycled, recovered, or disposed of in a responsible manner. Our packaging is designed to be recycled and should be handled in accordance with your local recycling policies.

Information You Might Need to Supply to JTAC
When requesting technical support from JTAC by phone, be prepared to provide the following information:
- Priority level
- Indication of what activity was being performed on the device when the problem occurred
- Problem detail and configuration data
When a new request for technical support is submitted, the JTAC engineer:
- Opens a case and assigns a number.
- Begins troubleshooting, diagnostics, and problem replication (if appropriate).
- Provides you with periodic updates on problem status and escalates the problem as appropriate according to escalation management guidelines.
- Closes the case when you agree that the problem has been resolved.
