The HL2 telephone handset lifter system is a mechanical handset lifter designed for use with the A20 telephone headset amplifier and accessory deck
PUTTING THE HL2 TOGETHER
Remove the parts of the HL2 from their packaging. Place the Accessory Deck (13) of the A20 Amplifier into the Lifter Motor (2). These parts lock together easily.
Remove the Accessory Deck Cover (23) from the Accessory Deck (13) of the A20 Adapter.
If you have already assembled your A20 Amplifier, disconnect the On Line Indicator (OLI) (15) from the Accessory Port (19) of the A20.
Connect the HL2 Cable (1) to the Accessory Port on the base of the A20 (19). Feed the cable through the guide channels in the base of the A20.
Connect the On Line Indicator (OLI) (15) to the On line Indicator Port (6) at the rear of the HL2 lifter. Replace the accessory deck cover (23).
Lift your telephone, and position squarely on the Accessory Deck (13). The base opens out to accommodate larger telephones. (See diagram D in A20 user guide.)
Once your telephone is in position on the Accessory Deck (13), slide the Lifter Arm (3) into the Lifter Arm Holder (4) on the HL2 Lifter Motor. The Lifter Arm needs to be positioned so that it will sit in the cavity under the telephone handset. To tighten the Lifter Arm once it is in the correct position, use a coin to rotate the Lifter Arm Screw (see diagram C).
Next, hold the Lifter Arm and either raise or lower it manually to fit under your handset while it is in its cradle. The arm needs to be underneath the handset in order to raise it and answer the phone. You will encounter some resistance to moving the Lifter Arm, however, you cannot damage the device by making this adjustment.
No other connections are required. The HL2 is powered by the A20 Base Unit.
(Number in black) denote the key from the A20 Amplifier user guide.
FINAL ADJUSTMENTS
In order to make sure that the Lifter Arm is set at the correct height for answering your telephone, press the Handset/Headset Selector (7) on the A20 base unit. Pressing this button then activates the Lifter Arm, which will move upwards, raising the telephone handset as it does so. As the handset is lifted, a dial tone will be heard in your headset receiver. The phone is then ready for you to make a call.
If the lifter arm does not raise the handset far enough to activate the dial tone, simply adjust the rotation of the Lifter Arm using the Lifting Arm Height Dial (7) on the back of the HL2 Lifter Motor Assembly (see diagram D). By moving this dial further towards Hi, the Lifter Arm will lift the handset further from its cradle when activated. The opposite happens if the dial is turned towards Low. Repeat this process until the Lifter Arm is correctly positioned to raise your handset.
Using the HL2 telephone handset lifter system
MAKING A CALL
To make a call, press the Handset/Headset Selector (7) on the A20 base unit. This will activate the Lifter Arm, which lifts the telephone handset from its cradle. You will then hear a dial tone in your headset receiver. Dial your number to make your call.
Once you have finished your call, press the Handset/Headset Selector (7) on the A20 base unit again to replace the telephone handset on its cradle, ready for the next call.
TAKING A CALL
When your phone rings, press the Handset/Headset Selector (7) on the A20 base unit. This will activate the Lifter Arm and route the call to your headset.
Once you have finished your call, press the Handset/Headset Selector (7) on the A20 base unit again to replace the telephone handset on its cradle, ready for the next call.
(Number in black) denote the key from the A20 Amplifier user guide.
