Frequently Asked Questions - KSET66 SMEG

How to install the Smeg KSET66 range hood?
Installation should be performed by a qualified professional. Ensure the hood is mounted at a minimum distance of 65 cm from the cooking surface for gas hobs or 50 cm for electric hobs. Use the provided mounting template and secure to the wall with appropriate anchors.
How to clean the grease filters?
Remove the aluminum grease filters and wash them in warm water with mild detergent. Alternatively, they can be cleaned in a dishwasher at low temperature (max 65°C). Dry thoroughly before reinstalling.
How to replace the charcoal filter?
The charcoal filter is used in recirculation mode. To replace, remove the grease filters, unlock the charcoal filter clips, and insert a new filter. Replace every 6 months or when indicator alerts.
What is the recommended maintenance schedule?
Clean the grease filters monthly or more often if heavy usage. Replace charcoal filters every 6 months. Clean the exterior with a soft damp cloth. Check the ductwork for blockages annually.
Why is the hood not extracting air properly?
Possible causes include clogged grease filters, blocked ductwork, or incorrect recirculation mode settings. Check and clean filters, ensure the duct is not obstructed, and confirm the hood is set to extraction (not recirculation) if ducted.
How to reset the filter indicator?
After cleaning or replacing filters, press and hold the speed button for about 3-5 seconds until the indicator light turns off. Refer to the manual for exact procedure.
Can the hood be used in recirculation mode?
Yes, the KSET66 can be used in recirculation mode by installing a charcoal filter (sold separately). This mode recirculates purified air back into the kitchen.
What are the dimensions of the duct connection?
The duct connection diameter is 150 mm. Use rigid or flexible ducting with matching diameter for optimal performance.
How to change the halogen bulbs?
Disconnect power, remove the filter to access the bulb, push and turn the bulb to release. Replace with a new 20W halogen (G4 base) and reassemble. Do not touch bulbs with bare hands.
The hood is noisy even at low speed. What to do?
Check for loose parts or unbalanced fan. Ensure filters are properly installed. If noise persists, it may indicate a motor issue; contact Smeg service for assistance.

RECOMMENDATIONS AND SUGGESTIONS 10

CHARACTERISTICS 11

INSTALLATION 12

USE 14

MAINTENANCE 15

INSTALLATION

  • The manufacturer will not be held liable for any damages resulting from incorrect or improper installation.
  • The minimum safety distance between the cooker top and the extractor hood is 650 mm.
  • Check that the mains voltage corresponds to that indicated on the rating plate fixed to the inside of the hood.
  • For Class I appliances, check that the domestic power supply guarantees adequate earthing.
  • Connect the extractor to the exhaust flue through a pipe of minimum diameter 120 mm. The route of the flue must be as short as possible.
  • Do not connect the extractor hood to exhaust ducts carrying combustion fumes (boilers, fireplaces, etc.).
  • If the extractor is used in conjunction with non-electrical appliances (e.g. gas burning appliances), a sufficient degree of aeration must be guaranteed in the room in order to prevent the backflow of exhaust gas. The kitchen must have an opening communicating directly with the open air in order to guarantee the entry of clean air.

USE

  • The extractor hood has been designed exclusively for domestic use to eliminate kitchen smells.
  • Never use the hood for purposes other than for which it has been designed.
  • Never leave high naked flames under the hood when it is in operation.
  • Adjust the flame intensity to direct it onto the bottom of the pan only, making sure that it does not engulf the sides.
  • Deep fat fryers must be continuously monitored during use: overheated oil can burst into flames.
  • The hood should not be used by children or persons not instructed in its correct use.

MAINTENANCE

  • Switch off or unplug the appliance from the mains supply before carrying out any maintenance work.
  • Clean and/or replace the Filters after the specified time period.
  • Clean the hood using a damp cloth and a neutral liquid detergent.

L Light Switches the lighting system on and off.

M Motor Switches the extractor motor on and off.

V Speed Sets the operating speed of the extractor:

  1. Low speed, used for a continuous and silent air change in the presence of light cooking vapour.
  2. Medium speed, suitable for most operating conditions given the optimum treated air flow/noise level ratio.
  3. Maximum speed, used for eliminating the highest cooking vapour emission, including long periods

Grease filters

CLEANING METAL GREASE FILTERS

• The filters must be cleaned every 2 months of operation, or more frequently for particularly heavy usage.
- Remove the filters, one at a time, after disconnecting the relative fastening elements.
- Wash the filters, taking care not to bend them. Allow them to dry before refitting.
- When refitting the filters, make sure that the handle is visible on the outside.
