TIPS FOR COOKING TASTY RICE

  1. Measure the rice with the provided cup, around 180 ml. Make sure the cup is full but not overflowing.
  2. Wash the rice thoroughly with plenty of water and dispose of the water immediately afterwards. It's not easy for the rice grains to absorb water at first, so wash the rice carefully to clean out the bran. The smell of bran can be reduced by washing the rice in low-temperature water.
  3. Clean out the bran until the water is clear. Please wash the rice carefully to avoid crushing the rice and dissolving the starch. Otherwise, the cooked rice might smell and be sticky.

Illustration of three food items: a bowl with rice, a cross-shaped container with crossed-out food, and a hand holding a bowl (no text or symbols)

Tips

Dry the washed rice in a strainer to make the cooked rice tasty. The smell from the cooked rice is most likely caused by rice bran or rice grounds mixed into the rice. Wash the pre-washed rice in a strainer and then dry it to reduce the cooked rice being sticky and browned.

Type of riceWater scale mark
Stored rice/mixed grains 1/4 higher than the standard scale
Fresh rice 1/4 lower than the standard scale

4. Water proportion

Adjust the proportion of water based on the amount of rice. The proportion of water varies with the type, place of origin, hardness, and taste of the rice. Please confirm the type of rice at the rice shop.

5. Soaking the rice

Soak the rice for 30 minutes in summer and 60 minutes in winter. The rice grains will turn white instead of transparent after fully absorbing water.

6. Stirring the rice after cooking is complete

Stir the rice from the bottom to release excess moisture.

7. Warming

Collect the remaining rice in the center of the inner pot. You may smell something when cold rice or a rice scoop is warmed in the inner pot.

Tips for buying and storing the rice

Place the rice container in a shady and cool place. When placing fresh rice into the container, take out the stored rice first. Do not handle the rice with wet hands.
