Frequently Asked Questions - DKF 21-R MIELE

How to install the DKF 21-R hood?
Installation must be carried out by a qualified professional. Maintain a minimum distance of 65 cm between the hood and the cooking surface. Use the supplied fasteners and follow the assembly diagram in the manual.
How to clean the hood filters?
The metal filters are dishwasher safe or hand washable. Clean them every month with hot water and mild detergent. Dry them completely before reinstalling.
Why is my hood making excessive noise?
Check if the filters are dirty. A clogged filter increases noise. Also ensure the hood is properly mounted and nothing is obstructing the air outlet.
How to replace the LED lighting?
Unplug the hood. Remove the protective panel, then unclip the defective LED module. Replace it with an LED module of the same specifications (3 W). Reassemble the panel.
What type of filter is used?
The DKF 21-R hood uses a washable anti-grease metal filter. It is not recommended to use charcoal filters, as this model is not designed for air recirculation.
Can I use the hood in recirculation mode?
This model is designed for external evacuation. It is not compatible with a recirculation kit. Ensure you have an air outlet to the outside during installation.
How to adjust the suction speed?
The hood is equipped with push buttons for 4 speeds. Press the corresponding button to increase or decrease power. An indicator light shows the selected speed.
What to do if the hood does not turn on?
First check the power supply and fuse. If the hood remains off, unplug it and contact Miele customer service. Do not attempt to repair it yourself.
How to descale the filters?
Descaling is generally not necessary. If the filter appears calcified, soak it in a solution of hot water and white vinegar (1:1) for 15 minutes, then rinse thoroughly.
Where to find spare parts?
Spare parts (filters, bulbs) are available from authorized Miele retailers or on the official website. Always use original parts to ensure safety.

These charcoal filters must not be cleaned in a washer!

Residual detergent can get into the filters if cleaned in a dishwasher. High oven temperatures used in subsequent reactivation in an oven can lead to these detergent residues self-igniting.

Function

Charcoal filters are required for reducing odours with recirculation mode cooker hoods. They are fitted in the cooker hood above the grease filters or in a separate recirculation box.

These charcoal filters can be reused several times by reactivating them in an oven or in a steam combination oven.

■ Please observe the instructions regarding recirculation mode in the operating instruction manual supplied with your cooker hood.

Installation

Fitting charcoal filters

DKF 12-R:

■ Remove the grease filters from the cooker hood. ■ Please follow the illustrations shown at the end of this instruction manual: the charcoal filter cassette is fitted into the vapour extraction frame in the cooker hood.
