How do I reset the Rocket 5ac Lite to factory defaults?

Press and hold the reset button on the device for 10 seconds while powered on. The device will reboot with factory settings.

What power supply is required?

The device uses 24V Passive PoE. Use only the included PoE injector or a compatible 24V PoE switch.

Can I use this device indoors?

Yes, but it is designed for outdoor use with IP67 weatherproof rating. Indoors, ensure proper ventilation.

How do I set it up as a Wi-Fi repeater?

Access the web UI via the IP address, set the device to Station mode (if bridging) or Repeater mode in airOS, and connect to the existing network.

What antennas are compatible?

It has two RP-SMA connectors (female). Use any 5 GHz antenna with RP-SMA male connector, e.g., Ubiquiti AMO-5G10 or other.

What is the maximum range?

Range depends on antennas and environment. With included omni antennas (if any), up to 1 km (0.6 mi); with high-gain antennas, up to 10 km (6 mi) line-of-sight.

How to update firmware?

Download the latest firmware from Ubiquiti's support site. Upload via web UI under System > Firmware Update.

Is the device compatible with Ubiquiti UNMS?

Yes, it supports UNMS (now UISP) for centralized management. Ensure firmware version supports it.

What does the LED status indicate?

Solid green: powered and ready; flashing: activity; off: no power. Detailed meaning in the user manual.

Can I use the Rocket 5ac Lite as a Router?

No, it is a Layer 2 bridge or repeater. It does not have NAT or DHCP server functions; it requires a separate router.

Introduction

Thank you for purchasing the Ubiquiti Networks® Rocket™ 5ac Lite. This Quick Start Guide is designed to guide you through installation and show how to access the airOS® Configuration Interface. This guide also includes the warranty terms and is for use with the Rocket5ac Lite, model R5AC-Lite.

Installation Requirements

- Shielded Category 5 (or above) cabling should be used for all wired Ethernet connections and should be grounded through the AC ground of the PoE.

TERMS OF USE: Ubiquiti radio devices must be professionally installed. Shielded Ethernet cable and earth grounding must be used as conditions of product warranty. TOUGHCable ^™ is designed for outdoor installations. It is the customer's responsibility to follow local country regulations, including operation within legal frequency channels, output power, and Dynamic Frequency Selection (DFS) requirements.

Hardware Overview

Signal The default wireless signal strength values are shown below:

LED will light blue when the wireless signal strength is equal to or above -65 dBm.
LED will light blue when the wireless signal strength is equal to or above -73 dBm.
LED will light blue when the wireless signal strength is equal to or above -80 dBm.
LED will light blue when the wireless signal strength is equal to or above -94 dBm.

LAN LAN The main Ethernet LED will light steady blue when an active Ethernet connection is made to the LAN port and flash when there is activity.

Power The Power LED will light blue when the device is connected to a power source.

Ports

LAN This Gigabit Ethernet port is used to connect the power and should be connected to the LAN.

Reset Button To reset to factory defaults, press and hold the Reset button for more than 10 seconds while the Rocket is already powered on. Alternatively, the Rocket may be reset remotely via a Reset button located on the bottom of the Gigabit PoE Adapter.

Hardware Installation

The Rocket5ac Lite is designed to mount directly onto a Ubiquiti airMAX RocketDish ^TM antenna.

1. Lift the release latch on the bottom of the Rocket and slide the Port Cover off.

1. Connect an Ethernet cable to the LAN port.

1. Replace the Port Cover.

2. Connect the RF cables (included with the RocketDish) to the RP-SMA Connectors located on top of the Rocket.

1. Attach the Rocket to the RocketDish.

a. Align the mounting tabs on the back of the Rocket with the four mounting slots on the RocketDish.
b. Slide the Rocket down until it locks into place.

1. Attach the other end of the RF Cables to the RF connectors in this combination: Chain 1 to H and Chain 0 to V.

1. Attach the Protective Shroud.

a. Align the hash mark on the top of the shroud with the notch on the RocketDish.
b. Rotate the shroud clockwise until it locks into place.

Connecting Power over Ethernet

1. Connect the other end of the Ethernet cable from the Rocket to the Ethernet port labeled POE on the Gigabit PoE Adapter.

1. Connect the Power Cord to the power port on the Gigabit PoE Adapter. Connect the other end of the Power Cord to a power outlet.

Accessing airOS

Connect to the airOS Configuration Interface.

1. Make sure that your host machine is connected via Ethernet to the Rocket.
2. Configure the Ethernet adapter on your host system with a static IP address on the 192.168.1.x subnet.
3. Launch your web browser. Type https://192.168.1.20 in the address field. Press enter (PC) or return (Mac).

1. The login screen will appear. Enter ubnt in the Username and Password fields. Select your Country and Language. You must agree to the Terms of Use to use the product. Click Login.

Note: For the Country setting, U.S. product versions are restricted to a choice of Canada, Puerto Rico, or the U.S. to ensure compliance with FCC/IC regulations.

The airOS Configuration Interface will appear, allowing you to customize your settings as needed. For additional details on the airOS Configuration Interface, refer to the User Guide available at documentation.ubnt.com/airmax

Installer Compliance Responsibility

Devices must be professionally installed and it is the professional installer's responsibility to make sure the device is operated within local country regulatory requirements.

Since Ubiquiti Networks equipment can be paired with a variety of antennas and cables, the Antenna Gain, Cable Loss, and Output Power fields are provided to the professional installer to assist in meeting regulatory requirements.

Electrical Safety Information

1. Compliance is required with respect to voltage, frequency, and current requirements indicated on the manufacturer's label. Connection to a different power source than those specified may result in improper operation, damage to the equipment or pose a fire hazard if the limitations are not followed.
2. There are no operator serviceable parts inside this equipment. Service should be provided only by a qualified service technician.
3. This equipment is provided with a detachable power cord which has an integral safety ground wire intended for connection to a grounded safety outlet.

a. Do not substitute the power cord with one that is not the provided approved type. Never use an adapter plug to connect to a 2-wire outlet as this will defeat the continuity of the grounding wire.
b. The equipment requires the use of the ground wire as a part of the safety certification, modification or misuse can provide a shock hazard that can result in serious injury or death.
c. Contact a qualified electrician or the manufacturer if there are questions about the installation prior to connecting the equipment.
d. Protective earthing is provided by Listed AC adapter. Building installation shall provide appropriate short-circuit backup protection.
e. Protective bonding must be installed in accordance with local national wiring rules and regulations.

Limited Warranty

UBIQUITI NETWORKS, Inc ("UBIQUITI NETWORKS") warrants that the product(s) furnished hereunder (the "Product(s)") shall be free from defects in material and workmanship for a period of one (1) year from the date of shipment by UBIQUITI NETWORKS under normal use and operation. UBIQUITI NETWORKS' sole and exclusive obligation and liability under the foregoing warranty shall be for UBIQUITI NETWORKS, at its discretion, to repair or replace any Product that fails to conform to the above warranty during the above warranty period. The expense of removal and reinstallation of any Product is not included in this warranty. The warranty period of any repaired or replaced Product shall not extend beyond its original term.

Warranty Conditions

The above warranty does not apply if the Product:

(I) has been modified and/or altered, or an addition made thereto, except by Ubiquiti Networks, or Ubiquiti Networks' authorized representatives, or as approved by Ubiquiti Networks in writing;
(II) has been painted, rebranded or physically modified in any way;
(III) has been damaged due to errors or defects in cabling;
(IV) has been subjected to misuse, abuse, negligence, abnormal physical, electromagnetic or electrical stress, including lightning strikes, or accident;
(V) has been damaged or impaired as a result of using third party firmware;
(VI) has no original Ubiquiti MAC label, or is missing any other original Ubiquiti label(s); or
(VII) has not been received by Ubiquiti within 30 days of issuance of the RMA.

In addition, the above warranty shall apply only if: the product has been properly installed and used at all times in accordance, and in all material respects, with the applicable Product documentation; all Ethernet cabling runs use CAT5 (or above), and for outdoor installations, shielded Ethernet cabling is used, and for indoor installations, indoor cabling requirements are followed.

Returns

No Products will be accepted for replacement or repair without obtaining a Return Materials Authorization (RMA) number from UBIQUITI NETWORKS during the warranty period, and the Products being received at UBIQUITI NETWORKS' facility freight prepaid in accordance with the RMA process of UBIQUITI NETWORKS. Products returned without an RMA number will not be processed and will be returned freight collect or subject to disposal. Information on the RMA process and obtaining an RMA number can be found at: www.ubnt.com/support/warranty.
