Frequently Asked Questions - MFR-32 Vivax

How do I set the temperature on my Vivax MFR-32 freezer?
Use the control panel located inside the freezer. Press the temperature setting button to cycle through available temperatures. The recommended setting is -18°C for proper food preservation.
What does the 'Fast Freeze' function do and how do I activate it?
The Fast Freeze function lowers the temperature rapidly to freeze fresh food quickly, preserving nutrients. Activate it by pressing the dedicated button on the control panel; it automatically turns off after 24 hours.
How often should I defrost my freezer?
The MFR-32 is a frost-free model, so manual defrosting is not required. However, if frost build-up occurs due to frequent door openings, you can perform a manual defrost by unplugging the appliance and leaving the door open.
Why is my freezer making a loud noise?
Normal operation sounds include a humming from the compressor and occasional gurgling from the refrigerant. If the noise is excessive, check that the freezer is level and not touching the wall. If persists, contact support.
How do I change the door opening direction?
The door is reversible. Refer to the manual for detailed steps: remove the hinge covers, unscrew hinges, then reattach them on the opposite side. Ensure the door is properly aligned before tightening.
What should I do if the freezer is not cooling enough?
Check if the temperature setting is correct. Ensure the door is closing properly and the door gasket is clean. Also, avoid overloading and allow air circulation around the unit. If problem continues, call service.
Can I store ice cream and long-term frozen food?
Yes, the MFR-32 maintains a safe temperature below -18°C, ideal for ice cream and long-term storage. For best quality, consume frozen food within recommended periods and avoid temperature fluctuations.
How do I clean the condenser coils?
The condenser coils are located at the back. Unplug the freezer and use a vacuum cleaner with a brush attachment to remove dust. Clean them every 6 months to maintain efficiency.
What do the alarms mean?
A door open alarm sounds if the door is left ajar for more than 60 seconds. A temperature alarm indicates the internal temperature has risen above safe levels. Press any button to silence the alarm.
Where can I find spare parts for my Vivax MFR-32?
Spare parts such as shelves, door gaskets, and LED bulbs are available through authorized Vivax service centers. Check the warranty card for contact details or visit the official website.

Cooked meats/fishes should always be stored on a shelf above raw meats/fishes to avoid bacterial transfer. Keep raw meats/fishes in a container which is large enough to collect juices and cover it properly. Place the container on the lowest shelf. Leave space around your food to allow air to circulate inside the unit. Ensure all parts of the unit are kept cool. ◆ To prevent transfer of flavors and drying out, pack or cover the food separately. Fruit and vegetables do not need to be wrapped. ◆ Always let pre-cooked food cool down before you put it in the unit. This will help to maintain the internal temperature of the unit. ◆ To avoid contamination of the food, please respect the following instructions:

- Opening the door for long periods can cause a significant increase in the temperature of the compartments of the appliance.

- Clean regularly surfaces that can come into contact with food and accessible drainage systems.

- Clean water tanks if they have not been used for 48 hours; flush the water system connected to a water supply if water has not been drawn for 5 days.

- To prevent cold air from escaping the unit, try to limit the number of times you open the door. We recommend that you only open the door when you need to put food in or take food out.

If your device has a freezing compartment with 4 stars, this refrigerating appliance is suitable for freezing foodstuffs.

If your device has a freezing compartment with 1, 2, or 3 stars, this refrigerating appliance is NOT suitable for freezing foodstuffs.

  • Two-star frozen-food compartments are suitable for storing pre-frozen food, storing or making ice cream, and making ice cubes.
  • One-, two-, and three-star compartments are not suitable for freezing fresh food.
  • If the refrigerating appliance is left empty for long periods, switch it off, defrost, clean, dry, and leave the door open to prevent mould from developing inside the appliance.

Before Plugging In

You must check that you have a socket compatible with the plug supplied with the unit.

Before Turning On!

Do not turn on until one hour after moving the unit.

The refrigerator should run for 2 to 3 hours before loading fresh or frozen foods; in summer, it should run for more than 4 hours in advance, considering that the ambient temperature is high.

Operation

Switching On Your Unit

◆ The temperature selector knob is located inside the refrigerator compartment.

When the thermostat knob is turned to the end position, below the "Min" position, the refrigerator will stop cooling (OFF).

Setting "MIN" (1-2): Less cool temperature.

Setting "NOR" (3-4): Normal operation (adequate for most situations).

Setting "MAX" (5-6): Coolest temperature.

MIN. OFF MAX. NORMAL

During high ambient temperatures, e.g., on hot summer days, it may be necessary to set the thermostat to the coolest setting (position "MAX", turn knob clockwise). This may cause the compressor to run continuously in order to maintain a low temperature in the cabinet.

◆ For the first time you install your refrigerator, set the thermostat knob at "NOR" (middle position). Give your freezer time to cool down completely before adding food. It is best to wait 24 hours before adding food. The thermostat knob controls the temperature. When the thermostat knob is turned to the end position, below the "Min" position, the refrigerator will stop cooling.

WARNING: In the lowest thermostat position, although the fridge is not cooling, it does not mean that the device is disconnected from the power supply. For cleaning and maintenance, to disconnect the power supply, pull the power plug out of the socket!

Noise Inside the Unit!

You may notice that your unit makes some unusual noises. Most of these are perfectly normal, but you should be aware of them!

These noises are caused by the circulation of the refrigerant liquid in the cooling system. It has become more pronounced since the introduction of CFC-free gases. This is not a fault and will not affect the performance of your unit. This is the compressor motor working, as it pumps the refrigerant around the system.

Change the Light Bulb (if exists)

The LED lamp must be replaced by authorized service. Please contact authorized service or manufacturer.

Maintenance

Cleaning

Vivax MFR-32 - Cleaning - 1

Please unplug the freezer for defrosting and cleaning.

Dust behind the freezer and on the ground should be cleaned promptly to improve cooling efficiency and save energy.

The interior of the freezer should be cleaned regularly to avoid odors. Soft towels or sponges dipped in water and non-corrosive neutral detergents are recommended for cleaning. The freezer should be finally cleaned with clean water and a dry cloth. Open the door to allow natural drying before turning the power back on.

◆ Remove all shelves. ◆ Wipe the inside of the unit with a weak solution of bicarbonate soda, then rinse with warm water using a wrung-out sponge or cloth. Wipe completely dry before replacing the shelves and salad bin.

Use a damp cloth to clean the exterior, then wipe with a standard furniture polish. Make sure the door is closed to avoid polish getting on the magnetic door seal or inside the unit.

◆ The condenser grille at the back of the unit and adjacent components can be vacuumed using a soft brush attachment.

Cleaning Tips

Condensation may appear on the outside of the unit. This may be due to a change in room temperature. Wipe off any moisture residue. If the problem persists, contact a qualified technician for assistance.

Do not use hard brushes, steel wool, wire brushes, abrasives such as toothpaste, organic solvents (such as alcohol, acetone, banana oil, etc.), boiling water, or acidic or alkaline items to clean the refrigerator, as this may damage the fridge surface and interior.

Do not rinse with water to avoid affecting electrical insulation properties. Use a dry cloth when cleaning lighting lamps, the temperature control knob, and electrical components.

Defrost

Defrost the freezing compartment whenever the layer of frost on the surface of the evaporator reaches 3 or 4 mm.

  1. Set the thermostat to the "OFF" position and disconnect the refrigerator from the main power supply.
  2. Store frozen food in a cold place.
  3. Place the drip tray under the evaporator to collect melted water. To speed up melting, you can put a bowl of hot water inside the compartment.
  4. After the frost has melted, discard the melted water and clean the interior.
  5. Dry the interior of the refrigerator.
  6. Put the shelf or drawer back into the compartment and return the frozen food.
  7. Plug the refrigerator-freezer into the mains supply and set the thermostat to the desired setting.

It is recommended that you use frozen food as soon as possible.

Vivax MFR-32 - Defrost - 1

Do not use metal utensils or electric heaters for defrosting, as this could damage the appliance.

Before defrosting, remove the food and place it in a cool place, and remove drawers and other accessories.

Switching Off for Long Periods of Time

Foods can be preserved for a couple of hours even in summer in case of power failure; it is recommended to reduce the frequency of opening the door and do not put fresh foods into the freezer.

When the unit is not in use for a long period of time, disconnect it from the mains supply, empty all food, and clean the appliance. Keep the door open to avoid bad odors.

Vivax MFR-32 - Switching Off for Long Periods of Time - 1

Continuous operation is recommended when the freezer is started.

Please do not move the freezer under normal circumstances, so as not to affect the refrigerator's service life.

Tips for Energy Savings

Try not to open the door too often, especially when the weather is wet and hot. Once you open the door, close it as soon as possible.

Every now and then, check if the appliance is sufficiently ventilated (adequate air circulation behind the appliance).

In normal temperature conditions, arrange the thermostat at the middle setting.

Before loading the appliance with packages of fresh food, make sure they are cooled to ambient temperature.

Ice and frost layer increase energy consumption, so clean the appliance as soon as the layer is 3-5 mm thick.

If it is the outer condenser, the rear wall should be always clean, free of dust or any impurities.

◆ The appliance should be located in the coolest area of the room, away from heat producing appliances or heating ducts, and out of direct sunlight.

◆ Let hot foods cool to room temperature before placing them in the appliance.

◆ Overloading the appliance forces the compressor to run longer.

◆ Foods that freeze too slowly may lose quality or spoil.

- Be sure to wrap foods properly, and wipe containers dry before placing them in the appliance. This cuts down on frost build-up inside the appliance.

◆ Appliance storage bin should not be lined with aluminum foil, wax paper, or paper toweling. Liners interfere with cold air circulation, making the appliance less efficient.

◆ Organize and label food to reduce door openings and extended searches.

◆ Remove as many items as needed at one time, and close the door as soon as possible.
