Why does the oven turn off after ignition?

Your SMEG SF6341GVX oven has a thermocouple safety system that detects the flame. If the oven turns off immediately after ignition, it is generally related to this system.
Correct ignition procedure:
- Open the oven door completely
- Press and turn the temperature knob counterclockwise between the MIN and MAX values
- The electronic igniter will activate automatically
- Keep the knob pressed for a few seconds to allow the thermocouple to heat up and detect the flame
If the oven still does not stay on:
- Wait at least 60 seconds before trying again
- Ensure you are holding the knob long enough - the thermocouple needs this time to heat up
- Check that the oven's ventilation openings are not blocked
- If after correctly following this procedure the oven still turns off after a few seconds, the thermocouple is likely faulty and should be replaced by a qualified technician
