The SMEG KD150X-1 hood can operate in two modes: the extraction mode (venting air outside) and the filtering or recirculation mode (the air is purified and reintroduced into the kitchen).
Installation steps in recirculation mode:
- Remove the standard grease filters present by default
- Install the activated charcoal filters following the diagrams in the manual (they replace the metal filters)
- Keep the motor inlet clear - do not install any external venting ducts
- The hood is now in filtering mode, ready to operate
Important point: If your hood does not have activated charcoal filters, you must purchase them separately (they are not provided originally) before using recirculation mode.
Maintenance in recirculation mode:
- Charcoal filters: To be replaced every 6 months minimum, or more often in case of intensive use. They are neither washable nor regenerable.
- Metal grease filters: If you keep them in another configuration, clean them once a month
