How to install my Talon AD7200 router?

Plug the power adapter into the router and a power outlet. Connect the Ethernet cable from the modem to the WAN port. Turn on the router and wait for the LEDs to stabilize. Open a browser and go to http://tplinkwifi.net to launch the setup wizard.

How to configure Wi-Fi?

After the initial installation, log in to the administration interface (http://tplinkwifi.net). Go to Wireless, set the name (SSID) and password for each band (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz). Confirm by clicking Save.

What is the default administrator password?

By default, the username and password are both admin (lowercase). It is strongly recommended to change them at first login in the security settings.

How to reset the router to factory settings?

Locate the Reset button on the back of the router. Using a paperclip, press and hold for about 10 seconds until the LEDs flash. Release, the router will restart with factory settings.

How to update the firmware?

Log in to the administration interface. Go to System Tools > Firmware Update. Click Check to search for updates online, or download the file from the TP-Link website and import it. Do not cut the power during the update.

What to do in case of Internet connection problems?

Check that the Ethernet cable between the modem and the WAN port is properly connected. Restart the modem and router. Check the LEDs: the Internet LED should be on or flashing. If the problem persists, contact your ISP.

How to set up parental controls?

In the administration interface, go to Parental Controls. Enable the feature and set profiles for each device. You can block sites, limit access times, and receive activity reports.

How to open ports for a game or server?

Go to Forwarding > Port Forwarding Rules. Add a new rule specifying the external port, internal port, and the local device's IP address. Make sure the device has a fixed IP address via DHCP reservations.

How to optimize Wi-Fi coverage?

Place the router in a central and elevated position, away from metal obstacles. Avoid interference from other electronic devices. Use the 5 GHz bands for high-bandwidth activities. Enable Beamforming in the wireless settings.

The router gets very hot, is this normal?

Slight heating is normal, especially during heavy use. Make sure the router is placed in a well-ventilated area, away from direct sunlight. Do not cover it. If the temperature becomes excessive, turn it off and let it cool before restarting.

Hardwareinstallation

Connect the Hardware

If your Internet connection is through an Ethernet cable from the wall instead of through a DSL/Cable/Satellite modem, connect the Ethernet cable directly to the router's Internet port, and skip Step 2,3,5 to complete the hardware connection.

1 Install the antennas. If the antennas are already fixed, move to the next step.
2 Turn off the modem, and remove the backup battery if it has one.
3 Connect the modem to the Internet (or WAN) port on your router with an Ethernet cable.
4 Turn on the router, and wait for it to start.
5 Turn on the modem.

Configure via Web Browser

1 Connect your computer to the router (Wired or Wireless).

Wired:

Turn off the Wi-Fi on your computer and connect your computer to the router's LAN (1/2/3/4) port using an Ethernet cable.

Wireless:

Connect your computer to the router wirelessly. The SSID and Wireless Password are on the router's label.

2 Enter http://tplinkwifi.net or http://192.168.0.1

in the address bar of a web browser. Create a password for future login attempts, or use admin for both username and password for some routers.

Note: If the login window does not appear, please refer to FAQ > Q1.

3 Go to Quick Setup page, and follow the step-by-step instructions to complete the initial configuration.

Q1. What can I do if the login window does not appear?

• If the computer is set to a static or fixed IP address, change the setting to obtain an IP address automatically.
- Verify that http://tplinkwifi.net or http://192.168.0.1 is correctly entered in the web browser. Alternatively, enter http://192.168.1.1 in the web browser.
- Use another web browser and try again.
- Reboot your router and try again.
- Disable and enable the the network adapter in use again.

Q2. What can I do if I cannot access the internet?

- Check if the Internet is working properly by connecting a computer directly to the modem via an Ethernet. If it is not, contact your Internet Service Provider.

• Log in to the web management page of the router to retrieve or reset your wireless password.
