Environment

  • To make recycling possible, the plastics used for this appliance have been coded.
  • The cardboard packaging has been made of recycled material and is fully recyclable.

Important

Read these instructions for use carefully before using the appliance and save them for future reference.

  • Make sure the dustbag has been placed correctly before using the vacuum cleaner for the first time.
  • Never use the vacuum cleaner to suck up water or any other liquid. Never suck up flammable substances and do not suck up ashes until they are cold.
  • When the vacuum cleaner is used to suck up fine dust, the pores of the dustbag may become clogged, causing the passage of air through the dustbag to become obstructed. As a result, the dustbag-full indicator will indicate that the dustbag needs to be replaced, even though the dustbag is not full at all.
  • Never use the vacuum cleaner without the Motor Protection Filter. This could damage the motor and shorten the life of the appliance. ▶ Only use:
  • Philips s-bag™double-layer paper dustbags (type FC8021);
  • Sydney+ double-layer paper dustbags (type HR6999 Sydney+);
  • or the cotton dustbag provided (some types only).
  • If the mains cord or another part of this appliance is damaged, it may only be replaced by Philips or a service centre authorised by Philips, as special tools and/or parts are required and in order to avoid hazardous situations.
  • Noise level: Lc = 77.5 dB(A) ▶ Please note that * in the figure numbers means that this figure applies to specific types only.

Connecting and disconnecting accessories

Hose

1 To connect the hose, insert it into the opening in the vacuum cleaner (fig. 1). 2 Turn the hose clockwise (fig. 2). 3 To disconnect the hose, turn it anticlockwise (fig. 3).

Tube

1 To connect the tube to the handgrip and to connect the nozzle to the tube, insert the narrow section into the wide section while turning a little (fig. 4).

Telescopic tube (specific types only)

1 To adjust the telescopic tube to the required length, grasp the plastic ring and pull the upper tube upwards as far as necessary. Lock the telescopic tube in position by releasing the plastic ring (fig. 5).

Nozzles

Convertible nozzle

  • With the brush strip folded in, the convertible nozzle can be used on carpets (fig. 6).
  • With the brush strip folded out, the convertible nozzle can be used on hard floors (fig. 7).

Using the appliance

Adjusting suction power

1 You can adjust the suction power by means of the slide on the handgrip (fig. 12). 2 You can also adjust the suction power by turning the knob on the vacuum cleaner to the desired setting (fig. 13). - Set the knob to MAX for maximum suction power. - Set the knob to MIN for minimal suction power.

Insufficient suction power

Please make sure that:

  • the knob on the vacuum cleaner is in the right position;
  • the slide on the handgrip is closed;
  • the dustbag is not full;
  • the nozzle, tube or hose is not blocked up.

To remove the obstruction, disconnect the blocked-up item and connect it (as far as possible) in reverse position. Switch the vacuum cleaner on to make the airflow suck the obstructing material out of the blocked-up item.

Parking the tube

1 Insert the tube clip into the parking slot (fig. 14). 2 This allows you to park the tube in a convenient position in a single movement (fig. 15).

Storage

1 Switch the vacuum cleaner off. 2 Remove the mains plug from the wall socket. 3 Rewind the mains cord by pressing the cord winder button. 4 Put the appliance in upright position and attach the lower tube to the vacuum cleaner by inserting the tube clip in the slot (fig. 16). 5 You can slide the clip along the tube to adjust its height (fig. 17).

Replacing the dustbag

Replace the dustbag as soon as the dustbag-full indicator has turned red permanently, i.e. even when the nozzle is not placed on the floor (fig. 18).

1. Switch the vacuum cleaner off. 2. Open the cover (fig. 19). 3. Push the dustbag holder backwards (fig. 20). 4. Remove the full dustbag by pulling the cardboard tag (fig. 21).

When you do this, the dustbag is sealed automatically.

5. Slide the cardboard tag of the new dustbag into the two grooves of the dustbag holder as far as possible (fig. 22). 6. Pull the dustbag holder forwards. You will hear a click (fig. 23).

You cannot close the cover if no dustbag has been inserted.

Philips s-bag™ double-layer paper dustbags are available under type number FC8021.

Cotton dustbag

If provided, you can use the cotton dustbag instead of paper dustbags. The cotton dustbag can be used and emptied repeatedly. To insert and remove the cotton dustbag, simply follow the instructions for replacing paper dustbags.

To empty the cotton dustbag:

1. Hold the dustbag over a dustbin. 2. Remove the clip by sliding it off the dustbag sideways (fig. 24). 3. Shake out the contents (fig. 25). 4. Close the dustbag by sliding the clip back onto the bottom edge of the dustbag (fig. 26).

When using the cotton dustbag we advise you to wash the Motor Protection Filter once a year in lukewarm water. Make sure the filter is completely dry before reinserting it into the vacuum cleaner.

Motor Protection Filter

  • This appliance is equipped with a greatly improved, triple-layer permanent Motor Protection Filter that guarantees optimal protection of the motor. This filter does not need to be replaced. This means that you can simply throw away the replacement filter supplied in each new box of dustbags, since this filter is only required for older versions of this vacuum cleaner.
  • All you have to do is shake the permanent filter over a dustbag and reinsert it into the vacuum cleaner every time you put in a new dustbag.

1 Slide the filter holder out of the vacuum cleaner (fig. 27).

2 Remove the filter from the holder and shake it over a dustbin. 3 Put the filter back into the holder as it was previously placed and press it firmly (fig. 28). 4 Push the holder with the clean filter firmly into place to ensure that it fits properly at the bottom (fig. 29).

Replacing the AFS Micro Filter.

  • The AFS Micro Filter filters a large part of the smallest particles from the exhaust air by means of its electrostatically charged fibres. 1 Replace the AFS Micro Filter when you insert the first of a new set of dustbags. 2 Place the bottom edge and the sides of the new filter properly behind the ridges of the holder (fig. 30). 3 Make sure that the filter has been properly inserted before closing the holder (fig. 31).

S-Class filter

- Instead of with the AFS Micro Filter, some types are equipped with the revolutionary S-Class Filter. This filter removes at least 99.97% of all particles down to 0.0003 mm in size from the outlet air.

This not only includes normal house dust, but also harmful microscopic vermin such as house dust mites and their excrements.

These are well-known causes of respiratory allergies.

▶ To guarantee optimal filtering, the S-Class Filter must be replaced at least once a year. - Boxes containing one S-Class Filter are available from you dealer under type number HR6992 or service number 4822 480 10084.

Replacing the S-Class Filter

1 Pull the lever upwards to open the filter holder (fig.32). 2 Remove the filter holder (fig. 33). 3 Remove the old filter and place the new S-Class Filter in the filter holder (fig.34). 4 Place the filter holder back into the appliance by inserting the projections on the bottom edge into the openings in the vacuum cleaner (fig. 35). 5 Push the filter holder back into place (fig. 36). 6 Fix the filter holder by pushing the lever downwards (fig. 37).

Extra accessories

To enable you to profit even more from your Philips Mobilo Plus vacuum cleaner, several extra accessories are available from your dealer.

Turbo nozzle (type number HR6988)

The turbo nozzle has been specially designed for deep-cleaning carpets and rugs.

The rotating brush effortlessly picks up small threads, hairs, fluff, and other particles that are difficult to vacuum.

Hard floor nozzle (type number HR6943)

This nozzle is especially suitable for cleaning large surfaces of parquet, tiles, etc.

Guarantee & service

If you need information or if you have a problem, please visit the Philips Web site at www.philips.com or contact the Philips Customer Care Centre in your country (you will find its phone number in the worldwide guarantee leaflet). If there is no Customer Care Centre in your country, turn to your local Philips dealer or contact the Service Department of Philips Domestic Appliances and Personal Care BV.

Philips 'Turbomax' motor

This vacuum cleaner is equipped with the very powerful Philips 'Turbomax' motor.

As long as the dustbag is more or less empty, medium suction power is quite enough for normal use. This saves energy and makes vacuuming easier.

Increase the suction power as the dustbag becomes fuller.

This ensures that the dustbag is used to its full capacity.
