How do I descale the AEG KF5300 coffee machine?

To descale, fill the water tank with a mixture of water and descaling solution (follow manufacturer's ratio). Run a brew cycle without coffee grounds, then repeat with fresh water at least twice. The descaling indicator will light up when needed.

Can I use paper filters instead of the permanent filter?

Yes, you can use standard size 4 paper coffee filters. Place them in the filter basket before adding coffee grounds. The permanent filter is optional.

Why is my coffee weak or watery?

Possible reasons: not enough coffee grounds, coffee is too coarse, or the water temperature is too low. Use the recommended 1-2 tablespoons per cup. Ensure the water tank is filled before brewing.

How do I clean the carafe and filter basket?

Both the glass carafe and filter basket are dishwasher safe. Alternatively, wash with warm soapy water and a soft sponge. Rinse thoroughly. Avoid abrasive cleaners.

What does the auto shut-off feature do?

The AEG KF5300 automatically turns off the heating plate after 2 hours to save energy and prevent overheating. You can also manually turn it off earlier.

Can I brew less than a full pot?

1. Die Maschine über den EIN/AUS-Schalter einschalten. Die Betriebs-anzeige leuchtet auf und heißes Wasser läuft in den Filter. Wenn kein Wasser mehr fließt, hält die Wärmeplatte den Kaffee heiß, bis die Maschine über den EIN/AUS-Schalter ausgeschaltet wird. Wird die Maschine nicht per der Hand ausgeschaltet, schaltet sie sich automatisch nach 40 Minuten ab (modell: Thermoskanne - 5 Minuten).
2. Εκκινήστε τη μηχανή με το διακόπτη ΟΝ/ΟFF (ΕΝΕΡΓΟΠΟΙΗΣΗ/ΑΠΕΝΕΡΓΟΠΟΙΗΣΗ). Η ενδεικτική λυχνία λειτουργίας ανάβει και το ζεστό νερό ρέει στο φίλτρο. 3. Zet het apparaat aan door op de AAN/UIT-knop te drukken. Het voedingslampje gaat branden en heet water stroomt in het filter. Als het water is doorgestroomd, houdt het warm-houdplaatje de koffie heet totdat u het apparaat uitschakelt met de AAN/UIT-knop. Als de machine niet handmatig wordt uitgeschakeld, schakelt de beveiligingsfunctie de machine na 40 minuten automatisch uit (model: Thermoskan - 5 minuten).

1. Mindestens zweimal nur Wasser durch die Maschine laufen lassen. Dann die Kaffeekanne, die Abdeckung und den Filterhalter gründlich unter fließendem Wasser abspülen. Dabei das Filterventil mehrmals aktivieren.

1. Place the machine on a flat surface. When starting the machine for the first time, fill the tank with cold water. Start the machine with the ON/OFF switch. Let a full tank of water pass through the machine once or twice to clean it, without using paper filter or coffee.

1. Making coffee: open the lid and fill the water tank with fresh cold water up to the desired level. There is a Water level indicator for 2–10 big cups / 3–15 small cups inside the water tank. The machine must not be used with empty tank!

1. Insert a size 1x4 paper filter in the filter holder and fill it with ground coffee. For average strong coffee one measuring spoon (approx. 6-7 g) per cup is sufficient. Close the water tank lid and place the jug (complete with lid) onto the warming plate.

1. Start the machine with the ON/OFF switch. The power indicator light will come on and hot water will flow into the filter. When water has stopped flowing, the warming plate keeps the coffee hot until the machine is turned off with the ON/OFF switch. If the machine is not turned off manually, the Safety Auto-Off function turns it off after 40 minutes (model - Thermo jug : 5 minutes)

1. If the jug is removed, the filter valve prevents coffee from dripping onto the warming plate. While boiling, the jug must not be removed for longer than 30 seconds or the filter will overflow.

1. The Aroma Selector extends the brewing time to maximize the flavour extraction and get a stronger coffee for a small number of cups (normally less than 6). Press the Aroma button, the light will turn on.

1. Installing the PureAdvantage™ Coffee filter: Place the filter into a container of clean cool water, and let soak for 10 minutes.

We recommend to replace the PureAdvantage™ Coffee filter after 60 brew cycles.

1. Place the PureAdvantage™ Coffee filter (filter end first) into the pocket located at the bottom of the water reservoir.

Cleaning and care

1. Turn the machine off and unplug the power cord. Wipe all outer surfaces with a damp cloth. Coffee jug and jug lid are dishwasher proof.* Never use caustic or abrasive cleaners, and never immerse the machine in liquid!

1. To clean the filter holder, lift up the handle and remove the filter holder. To clean the filter valve thoroughly, push it several times while it is being rinsed. The filter holder can also be washed in the dishwasher.

1. Decalcifying is recommended every three months for best performance. Fill the tank with water and decalcifier according to product instructions, then follow steps 4 and 5.

1. Place the coffee jug with its lid onto the warming plate. Allow the decalcifier to take effect for about 15 minutes, then switch the machine on. Switch it off when the solution has finished flowing through. If necessary repeat the decalcifying process.

2. Allow the machine to run at least twice with plain water. Then thoroughly rinse the coffee jug, lid and filter holder under running water, activate the filter valve repeatedly during the rinse process.

3. Never immerse the thermo jug in liquid or wash it in dishwasher.*
