The appliance must

Besides the operating instructions and the binding accident prevention regulations valid in the country of use, observe recognised regulations for safety and proper use.
Purpose and intended use
The appliance is suitable for picking up dry, non-fl ammable dust and liquids.
The appliance is suitable for commercial use, such as e.g. in
• Hotels, Schools, Hospitals, Factories, Shops, Offices, Hire shops
Any other use is considered as improper use. The manufacturer accepts no liability for any damage resulting from such use. The risk for such use is borne solely by the user.
Proper use also includes proper operation, servicing and repairs as specified by the manufacturer. See operating instructions.
Transport
- Before transporting the dirt tank, close all the locks.
- Do not tilt the cleaner if there is liquid in the dirt tank.
- Do not use a crane hook to lift the cleaner.
Storage
- Store the appliance in a dry place, protected from frost.
Electrical connection
- It is recommended that the vacuum cleaner should be connected via a residual current circuit breaker.
- Arrange the electrical parts (sockets, plugs and couplings) and lay down the extension lead so that the protection class is maintained.
- Connectors and couplings of power supply cords and extension leads must be watertight.
Extension lead
- As an extension lead, only use the version specified by the manufacturer or one of a higher quality. See operating instructions.
- When using an extension lead, check the minimum cross-sections of the cable:

Warranty
Our general conditions of business are applicable with regard to the guarantee.
Unauthorised modifications to the appliance, the use of incorrect brushes in addition to using the appliance in a way other than for the intended purpose exempt the manufacturer from any liability for the resulting damage.
Tests and approvals
Electrical tests must be performed in accordance with the provisions of safety regulations (BGV A3) and to DIN VDE 0701 Part 1 and Part 3. In accordance with DIN VDE 0702 these tests must be performed at regular intervals and after repairs or modifications.

Damage due to unsuitable mains voltage.
The appliance can be damaged as a result of being connected to an unsuitable mains voltage.
- Ensure that the voltage shown on the rating plate corresponds to the voltage of the local mains power supply.
Picking up liquids

CAUTION
Picking up liquids.
Do not pick up fl ammable liquids.

Before liquids are picked up, always remove the fi Iter bag/ waste bag and check that the fl oat or the water level limit works properly.
-
The use of a separate fi Iter element or fi Iter screen is recommended.
-
If foam appears, stop work immediately and empty the tank.
Hazardous materials

Vacuuming up hazardous materials can lead to serious or even fatal injuries

The following materials must not be picked up by the vacuum cleaner:
-
hazardous dust
- hot materials (burning cigarettes, hot ash, etc.)
- fl ammable, explosive, aggressive liquids (e.g. petrol, solvents, acids, alkalis, etc.)
- fl ammable, explosive dust (e.g. magnesium or aluminium dust, etc.)
Spare parts and accessories

CAUTION
Spare parts and accessories.
The use of non-genuine spare parts and accessories can impair the safety of the appliance.
- Only use spare parts and accessories from Nilfi sk-Alto.
- Use only the brushes supplied with the vacuum cleaner or specified in the operating manual.
Emptying dirt tank

CAUTION
Picking up environmentally hazardous materials.
Materials picked up can present a hazard to the environment.
- Dispose of the dirt in accordance with legal regulations.
Recycling the cleaner
Make the old cleaner unusable immediately.
- Unplug the cleaner.
- Cut the power cord.
- Do not discard of electrical appliances with household waste.

As specified in European Directive 2002/96/EC on old electrical and electronic appliances, used electrical goods must be collected separately and recycled ecologically. Contact your local authorities or your nearest dealer for further information.

This quick reference guide does not replace the separate operating instructions, which describes the appliance in detail. The operating instructions also contain further information on the operation, maintenance and repair of the appliance.

CAUTION:
This Nilfisk-ALTO vacuum cleaner is not to be used in explosion-hazardous areas, as serious injury could result.
Under no circumstances may this vacuum cleaner be used safely for the collection of hazardous or toxic materials unless equipped with a HEPA filter. Be sure to install the HEPA filter according to Nilfi sk-ALTO's written instructions.
Do not use this cleaner for the removal of hazardous substances unless you are licensed and/or certified for this work by the all authorities having jurisdiction.
EMPTYING:
If this vacuum cleaner is used to collect hazardous material, do not attempt to open or empty its contents without personal protective clothing and respiratory protection. This procedure must be completed in a contained environment. Contact with the cleaner, filters and all other accessories used when picking-up hazardous materials must be handled according to federal (EPA, OSHA), state and local regulations valid for the vacuumed substance.
ATTENTION EMPLOYER:
Please ensure these instructions for Use are made available and understood by your employees or any other persons who may use this equipment.
To list all toxic and hazardous materials would be beyond the scope of these instructions. It is the Employer's responsibility to identify, for Employee's and others' information, hazardous or toxic materials which may be collected by this equipment. Such information must be communicated to your Employees and other potential users of this equipment.
Nilfisk-ALTO warrants that its equipment will be free of defects in workmanship or material for a period of two years from the date of delivery. If the vacuum fails to meet these warranty standards, Nilfisk-ALTO shall, upon notification within such time period, correct such non-conformity, as its option, either by repairing any defective part or parts, or by replacing a part or parts provided that the equipment is returned to an authorized Nilfisk-ALTO service facility. In all cases freight both ways will be at expense of the customer. Equipment shall not be returned without advance notice to, and consent of Nilfi sk-ALTO.
EXCEPT AS SPECIFICALLY SET FORTH HERIN, NILFISK-ALTO MAKES NO WARRANTIES, EITHER EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED, AS TO ANY MATTER WHATSOEVER, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION ANY AND ALL WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS OF PURPOSE, OR OTHER WARRANTIES, ALL OF WHICH ARE EXPRESSLY DISCLAIMED AND EXCLUDED. NEITHER PARTY SHALL BE LIABLE TO THE OTHER FOR SPECIAL, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF PRODUCTION, LOSS OF PROFITS OR ANY OTHER SIMILAR INDIRECT LOSSES WHICH MIGHT OCCUR AS A RESULT OF DEFECTS, PARTIAL OR TOTAL FAILURE OF THE PRODUCT TO PERFORM AS SPECIFIED.
Correction of non-conformities or defects in the manner and for the period of time provided above, shall constitute fulfillment of all Liabilities of Nilfisk-ALTO to the customer, whether based on contract, negligence or otherwise with respect to, or arising out of such equipment. The remedies set forth herein are exclusive, and the liability of Nilfisk-ALTO with respect to this sale or anything done in connection therewith, whether in contract, in tort, under any warranty, or otherwise, shall not, except as expressly provided herein, exceed the price of the equipment or part on which such liability is based.
This warranty does not cover repairs due to normal wear and tear, accident, neglect, misuse or abuse, incorrect installation or use other than described in the instruction booklet. Breaks in hoses and cables are not covered. This warranty is rendered void if the motor number plate is removed or defaced or if repairs are made or attempted by persons not authorized by Nilfi sk-ALTO.
Some states do not allow exclusion of implied warranties or limitations on how long an implied warranty lasts so the above exclusions or limitation of implied warranties may not apply. Some states do not allow exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages so the above exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages may not apply. Limited warranties set forth above give specific legal rights. Customer may have other rights which vary from state to state.
