- After having removed the appliance from its packaging, verify its integrity based on the drawing and any presence of damage caused by transport. If in doubt, do not use the appliance and contact an authorised service centre.

- Before connecting the appliance, please make sure that the voltage data indicated on the identification technical data correspond to those of the mains voltage. The identification technical data are found on the appliance (6) and on the power supply (8) (if present).
- This appliance must be used solely for the purpose for which it was designed, namely, as a pulsed light epilator for home use. Any other use is considered not compliant and therefore dangerous.
- This appliance can be used by children aged from 16 years and above and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved. Children shall not play with the appliance. Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children without supervision.

- When the appliance is used in a bathroom, unplug it after use since the proximity of water presents a hazard even when the appliance is switched off.
- For enhanced safety, it is recommended to install a differential circuit breaker with a nominal operating differential current that does not exceed 30 mA (10 mA is ideal) in the electric circuit of the bathroom. Ask your installer for advice.
ATTENTION: do not use this appliance near bathtubs, showers, basins or other vessels containing water. Never place the appliance in water.
- If the appliance is faulty or malfunctions, switch it off and do not tamper with it. Any repairs must only be carried out by an authorised technical service centre.
- This appliance is not suitable to be used in the presence of flammable anaesthetic mixtures with air or Oxygen or Nitrous Oxide.
- DO NOT use the appliance with wet hands, damp feet or barefoot.
- Always disconnect the appliance from the mains supply before cleaning or performing maintenance and when the appliance is not in use.

• DO NOT USE THE APPLIANCE IF ONE OF THE FOLLOWING CONDITIONS APPLIES:
• During pregnancy or breastfeeding.
- If you have been exposed to the sun or artificial tanning machines in the last 28 days. In this case, use the appliance only at power level 1.
- If you have a tattoo or permanent make-up in the treatment area.
- If you have dark brown or black spots, such as large freckles, a birthmark, moles or warts in the treatment area.
- If you have eczema, psoriasis, lesions, open wounds or active infections, such as herpes, in the treatment area. Wait for the affected area to heal before using the appliance.
- If you have a history of keloid formation, if you know you are sensitive to the light (photosensitivity) or take medicine that causes the skin to be more sensitive to light, including non-steroidal anti-inflammatories, (such as aspirin, ibuprofen, paracetamol), tetracyclines, phenothiazines, thiazide, diuretics, sulfonylurea, sulfonamide, DTIC, fluorouracil, vinblastine, griseofulvin, Alpha-Hydroxy Acids (AHA), Hydroxy Acids (BHA), Retin-A®, Accutane® and/or topical retinoids.
- If you have abnormal skin conditions, such as vitiligo or albinism.
- If you have varicose veins in the areas that are to be treated.
- If you are being treated or have recently been treated with Alpha-Hydroxy Acids (AHA), Beta-Hydroxy Acids (BHA), Retin-A®, topical retinoids or azelaic acid.
- If you have abnormal skin conditions caused by diabetes or other systemic or metabolic disorders.

- If you have been treated with Accutane® (isotretinoin) during the last 6 months.
- If you have been on steroids during the last 3 months.
- If you have a history of herpes outbreaks in the area that is to be treated, unless you have consulted your doctor and received preventive treatment before using the appliance.
• If you suffer from epilepsy. - If you carry an active system, such as a pacemaker, an incontinence aid, an insulin pump, etc.
- If you suffer from diseases related to photosensitivity, such as porphyria, polymorphic light eruption, solar urticaria, lupus, etc.
- If you have a history of skin cancer or potential skin malignancies.
- If you have undergone radiotherapy or chemotherapy during the last 3 months.
- If you have any other problem for which your doctor does not recommend using the product.
The appliance may be less effective in removing hair from women with hormonal disorders since they might cause excessive hair growth, hirsutism or increased hair growth on the face and neck.
If in doubt, consult your doctor.
THE COLOUR OF YOUR SKIN
The appliance removes unwanted hair and selectively affects the hair pigment. Various amounts of pigment (melanin) are also found in the surrounding skin tissue. The amount of pigment in the skin, which affects the skin tone, determines the risk posed to the skin when any type of pulsed light epilation is used.

Compare your complexion with the skin tone range (A) provided in this manual and/or on the package of the product before using the appliance.
NATURALLY DARK SKIN
DO NOT use the appliance on naturally dark skin!
Using the appliance on dark skin can cause adverse effects such as burns, blisters and changes in the colour of the skin (hyper or hypo-pigmentation).
SKIN COLOUR SENSOR
The appliance has a skin colour sensor (1B) that measures the tone of the skin in the area that is to be treated at the beginning of each session and occasionally during the session. The skin colour sensor (1B) ensures that pulses are only emitted on suitable skin tones.
TANNED SKIN
DO NOT use the appliance with power levels from 2 to 5 on tanned skin or after recent exposure to the sun and/or tanning beds! Do not expose the treated areas to the sun. Such use can cause serious burns, wounds, blisters and changes in the colour of the skin (hyper or hypo-pigmentation).
Tanned skin, especially after sun exposure, contains large amounts of melanin.

This applies to all types of skin and complexions, including those that do not seem to tan quickly. The presence of large amounts of melanin, expose the skin to greater risk when light epilation methods are used.
If you are using the device at power levels between 2 and 5, avoid exposure to sunlight and/or tanning beds for 4 weeks before the treatment!
You can continue to use the device after exposure to the sun only if the power level is set to 1, which is the lowest.
The lowest power level of the appliance (level 1) is designed for safe use even after exposure to the sun.
Exposure to the sun means constant unprotected direct exposure to sunlight for more than 15 minutes or constant unprotected indirect exposure to sunlight for more than 1 hour.
Always protect recently treated skin when exposed to the sun, making sure to carefully spread sun cream SPF 30 or higher for 2 weeks after each hair removal session.
THE EYES
NEVER USE the appliance around or near the eyes.
The appliance can be used to remove hair in a delimited part of the face. Special care must be taken to avoid the eyes when treating this area.
Keep away from the eyes!
Do not use the appliance on your nipples or genital organs (male or female).
OTHER PRECAUTIONS FOR SAFE USE
BEFORE THE TREATMENT
THE POWER LEVEL
Select the power level CAREFULLY!
The power level refers to the intensity of the pulse of light that is projected on the skin and ranges from the lowest to the highest. The power level LEDs (5B) indicate the set power level.
When the power level increases, the results improve, however, the risk of side effects also increases (refer to "Possible side effects").
Always start the treatment at the lowest power level!
Only if you feel little or no discomfort with the power level set to the lowest can you increase the power by one level at the next session, and so on for each subsequent hair removal session. For detailed instructions regarding the power level, refer to "Power Level" in "Information before use".

- Always shave the area that is to be treated and make sure the skin is clean and dry before using the appliance.
- On the face, if the dark hair to treat is sparse and there is little of it, you don't need to shave the area; simply trim the hair with scissors. If the hair is very short (about 1mm) and not too thick, you don't need to shave or trim them.
• Cover any birthmark and tattoos before using the appliance. - Cover dark brown or black spots, such as large freckles, a birthmark, moles or warts before using the appliance.
- Never use flammable liquid, such as alcohol, products containing alcohol (including perfume, sanitary products, etc.) or acetone to clean the skin before using the appliance.
- Do not use the appliance on any part of the body where you may wish hair to grow eventually.
THE PATCH TEST
It is recommended to perform a patch test before starting treatment, in order to identify the maximum tolerance of your skin to light pulses. Refer to "Information before use" for instructions regarding the patch test.
DURING TREATMENT
Do not treat the same section of skin more than once per hair removal session! Do not overlap the pulses!
- STOP USING THE APPLIANCE IMMEDIATELY if blisters form or the skin burns.
• Always make sure that the treatment surface (1A) is pointed towards the

skin and is entirely in contact with it.
- Remove the treatment surface (1A) from the skin if either (1A) becomes excessively hot.
AFTER TREATMENT
Do not expose the skin to the sun and/or tanning beds after treatment.
In case of exposure to the sun during the two weeks following a treatment session, protect the treated skin with sun cream SPF 30 or higher.
ATTENTION: treatment may cause a temporary change in pigmentation (refer to "Possible side effects").
POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS
Side effects and complications associated with the appliance are rare when used according to the instructions.
However, any cosmetic procedure, including those intended for home use, pose a potential risk. It is therefore important to understand and acknowledge the risks and complications that may occur when using pulsed light epilation systems designed for home use.

Minimal Discomfort to the Skin
Despite home use pulsed light epilation is generally very well tolerated, most users experience mild discomfort during use, which is usually described as a slight feeling of warmth or tingling in the treated sections. This feeling can be felt during the treatment or a few seconds after.
Any other discomfort is not normal and treatment must be stopped because your skin does not tolerate the hair removal treatment or the power level setting is too high.
Redness on the Skin
The skin may become red immediately after using the appliance or within the subsequent 24 hours. The redness usually disappears within 24 hours. Consult your doctor if the redness does not disappear within 2 or 3 days.

Greater Skin Sensitivity
The treated skin becomes more sensitive and may become dry or flaky.
Wounds and Burns on the Skin
Very rarely, burns or wounds may appear after the treatment. Burns or wounds can take several weeks to heal and very rarely, may leave a visible permanent scar.
Scars
Even though it is very rare, permanent scarring may occur. Generally, when scars are formed, they appear flat and white (hypotrophic).
However, the scar may also be big and red (hypertrophic) or big and beyond the wound itself (keloid). Subsequent aesthetic treatment may be required to improve the appearance of the scar.
Changes in Pigmentation
In some rare cases, there lies the risk of temporary hyperpigmentation (increased pigment or brown discolouration) or hypopigmentation (whitening) in the skin surrounding the hair. The risk of changes in skin pigmentation is higher in persons who have a dark skin tone. Generally, discolouration or changes in the skin pigment are temporary, and permanent hyperpigmentation or hypopigmentation is rare.
Excessive Swelling and Redness
In some rare cases, the skin may become very red and swollen. This is more common in sensitive parts of the body. The redness and swelling should lessen in the following 2 to 7 days and ice must be applied often. The area can be cleaned gently, however, avoid exposure to sun.

Infection
Skin infection is very rare, however, it may still occur following a burn or wound caused by the appliance.
Bruising
Very rarely, blue-purple bruising may be caused after using the appliance and may last fro 5 to 10 days. As the bruise fades, rust-brown skin discolouration may occur (hyperpigmentation), which may be permanent.
Please consult your doctor or dermatologist in the case of side effects or complications.
DESCRIPTION OF THE APPLIANCE AND ACCESSORIES
Home use pulsed light appliance, based on HPL technology (Home Pulsed Light) to permanently reduce unwanted hair. Permanent hair reduction means long-term reduction in the amount of hairs that grow after a course of treatment.
The appliance emits a light pulse that is absorbed by the pigment in the hair. The light beam is conveyed to the hair follicle, thereby generating heat that can deactivate it.
Refer to the Illustrative guide (III) to check the content of the package.

TREATMENT AREAS
The appliance can be used to remove unwanted body hair in the following areas:
underarms, bikini line, arms, legs, back and chest.
Women can also use it in the part indicated by the white dashed line.
It is important to only treat the facial areas where there is visible thick and dark superfluous hair. Areas with thin fair hair, often
on and under the chin, must not be treated.

HAIR REMOVAL PROGRAM
A typical cycle of hair growth can take 18 to 24 months. During this time, more sessions may be required to achieve permanent hair removal.
Hair removal efficacy varies from person to person and in different body parts, according to the hair colour and level of tolerance of one's own skin.
Recommended treatment plan in a complete hair growth cycle:
- From session 1 to session 4: sessions must be held two weeks apart from each other.
- From session 5 to session 7: sessions must be held four weeks apart from each other.
- The subsequent maintenance sessions can be performed from time to time, when and if necessary, until long-lasting results are achieved.
Note:
The hair removal results will not be enhanced if the same part of the body is treated more often than recommended (every two weeks).
Dormant hair follicles can be reactivated due to hormonal and physiological changes. Therefore, occasional hair removal sessions may be required.
The individual reaction depends on the type of hair and biological factors that may affect the growth cycle of hair. Some people can react quicker or slower with regards to the recommended hair removal plan.
In any case, a long-lasting result cannot be expected with only one or two sessions.

NOTE
The appliance is not effective on very light hair.
The appliance is not effective on natural white, grey, light blonde and red hair. If your body hair is either of these colours, the appliance will not be effective.
INFORMATION BEFORE USE
POWER LEVEL
The appliance can be set to 5 power levels; 1 (lowest) to 5 (highest), indicated by 3 power level LEDs (5B).
Press the power level setting and on/off button Each time it is pressed, the power level increases by 1 up to 5, after which it returns to level 1.
Perform this action until the desired level is set.
The green power level LED (5B) will light up in line with the set power level.
ATTENTION
It is recommended to always start the first hair removal session by setting the lowest power level (level 1).
If you feel no discomfort during the hair removal session with the power level set to the lowest, you can increase the power to level 2 at the next session, and so on for each subsequent session.
Do not increase the power level if you feel an abnormal discomfort during or after the treatment! (See "Possible side effects").
Do not increase the power level during the hair removal session, even if no side effect is felt as these may occur some time after the session.

SKIN COLOUR SENSOR (1B)
Using the pulsed light epilation system on dark skin can cause adverse effects such as burns, blisters and changes in the colour of the skin (hyper or hypopigmentation).
The appliance has a skin colour sensor (1B) that measures the tone of the skin in the area that is to be treated at the beginning of each session and occasionally during the session.
If the skin colour sensor (1B) detects a complexion that is too dark for the treatment, the appliance stops emitting the light pulses automatically and the skin colour/device-is-ready LED (5C) starts to flash rapidly.
If this occurs, try to use the appliance on another part of the body or contact the IMETEC service centre.
THE TWO APPLICATION METHODS
The device can be applied in two ways: "by Pulse" and "Sliding".
By Pulse Method
The by pulse method is optimal when using higher power levels as it allows for better control of the skin areas being covered. Each time the pulse activation button is pressed (2), a light pulse is emitted.
A precise technique must be followed when using the by pulse method to make sure the entire treatment area is covered and dangerous overlapped pulses are prevented:
• Imagine the treatment area is divided in rows.
- Emit a light pulse proceeding in order, starting from one end of each row and continuing to the other end (from the bottom upwards or right to left, depending on the treatment area).

The area covered by the treatment surface (1A) leaves temporary marks on the skin due to the light pressure applied by the handpiece.
These marks remain visible for a few moments and are useful to establish the subsequent pulse position.
Sliding Method
The Sliding method is optimal when using low power levels and it allows for faster and more efficient sessions. When using the Sliding method, keep the pulse activation button (2) pressed and slide the device in a slow gliding motion while remaining in contact with the skin, along the area to be treated. At lower power levels (1 and 2), the device takes only 1 to 1.5 seconds to recharge between one pulse and another, thereby allowing an uninterrupted sequence of flashes.
ATTENTION
Do not overlap the pulses!
Do not treat the same section of skin more than once per hair removal session! STOP USING THE APPLIANCE IMMEDIATELY if excessive heat or tingling is felt or blisters or small burns appear on the skin!

HOW TO PERFORM THE PATCH TEST
Since the skin tone and its sensitivity vary from one body part to another, a patch test should be performed on each part of the body that is to be treated.
- First check the tone of your skin by comparing it to the table on the package and in the instruction manual.
• Identify a small area that is to be treated.
• Shave the area that is to be treated. - After having set the lowest power level, apply the handpiece to the area and emit the first pulse. If no discomfort is felt, increase the power to the next level, move the handpiece to the adjacent skin area and emit another pulse. Increase the power level on each subsequent area of skin until the maximum tolerable level for the skin type. A feeling of heat can be felt on the skin during the treatment, and this is normal. If discomfort is felt, the maximum tolerable power level is the previous one.
- Check the area after 24 hours: if the redness persists, the maximum tolerable power level for your skin type is the previous one.
Even though it is extremely rare, if hypersensitivity should persist for over 24 hours, it is recommended to consult a doctor.
ATTENTION: the power output directly affects the result, however, due to the principle of heat of the treatment, the maximum limit tolerated by your skin must not be exceeded. This limit is normally high for fair skin and low for dark skin because melanin that darkens the skin increases the production of heat. Do not exceed the maximum limit that your skin tolerates with no discomfort whatsoever.

PREPARING THE AREAS THAT ARE TO BE TREATED
- The skin must be shaved, clean, dry, with no make-up, anti-perspirant or deodorant.
- On the face, if the dark hair to treat is sparse and there is little of it, you don't need to shave the area; simply trim the hair with scissors. If the hair is very short (about 1mm) and not too thick, you don't need to shave or trim them.
- Moles, birthmarks, dark spots, tattoos and lips must be covered with a white pencil or white patches.
ATTENTION: Before starting the treatment, carefully read the paragraphs concerning: safety warnings, contraindications, precautions for safe use, possible side effects, treatment areas and hair removal program.
USE
PREPARING THE APPLIANCE
- Remove the appliance and the other components from the package.
- If the appliance is stored in a very cold place, wait for it to reach at least 15 °C.
- Insert the cable of the plug (7) into the power supply connection (3).
- Insert the plug (7) into a socket: all the LEDs on the control panel (5) will go on and off repeatedly in a circular sequence.
TREATMENT
- Press the power level setting and on/off button (5A): the green power level 1 LED (5B) lights up and the ventilation system is activated (you will hear a sound similar to that of a hair dryer).
- About 1 second after having pressed the power level setting and on/off button (5A), the skin colour/device-is-ready LED (5C) lights up: the device is automatically set to the lowest power level.

- Set the lowest power level when applying the first treatment. Follow the instructions in the "Information before use" chapter if you wish to use a different power level for follow-up sessions.
- Apply the treatment surface (1A) firmly on the skin. Only when the treatment surface (1A) is entirely in contact with the skin, the skin colour/device-is-ready LED (5C) starts to flash slowly.
- Press the pulse activation button (2). The device immediately verifies the skin colour: if the colour is light enough for safe application, the device emits the light pulse on the skin accompanied by a sound, and the skin colour/device-is-ready LED (5C) goes off. A slight tingling sensation may be felt. Note: if the appliance does not emit a light pulse and the skin colour/device-is-ready LED (5C) flashes rapidly, the skin tone is too dark for safe application. Try to use the appliance on another part of the body.
- Remove the treatment surface (1A) from the treated area.
- A few seconds (depending on the power level set) after the previous pulse is emitted, the skin colour/device-is-ready LED (5C) goes on again.
- Select the application mode to continue the treatment.
13A. Move the treatment surface (1A) to another section. Use the pressure marks left previously to place the treatment surface on the adjacent section, avoiding overlapped pulses (See "Covering the entire treatment area").
14A. Repeat the process, starting from point 8, until the entire area to be treated is covered.
By Pulse Method

13B. Keep the pulse activation button (2) pressed and slide the device in a slow gliding motion while remaining in contact with the skin, along the area to be treated.
At lower power levels (1 and 2), the device takes only 1 to 1.5 seconds to recharge between one pulse and another, thereby allowing an uninterrupted sequence of flashes.
Make sure the entire area you intend to treat is covered while avoiding to go over the same area a number of timed during the same session.
AFTER TREATMENT
- Press the power level setting and on/off button (5A): all the LEDs will flash sequentially.
- Remember the power level used for the treatment session as this will be reset when the appliance is next switched on.
- Disconnect the adaptor cable (7) from the socket.

MAINTENANCE
CLEANING AND STORING
It is recommended to clean the appliance and the treatment surface (1A) after each hair removal session:
- Disconnect the appliance from the power supply (7) before cleaning it.
- Clean the surface of the handpiece and the treatment surface (1A) gently, with a dry, clean cloth.
- Store the appliance in a cool and dry place, away from heat and water.
ATTENTION:
Never immerse the appliance or any of its parts in water!
Never try to open or repair the appliance.
TROUBLESHOOTING
| The appliance does not go on | 1. Make sure the plug (7) is inserted correctly into the power supply connection (3).2. Make sure the plug (7) is inserted into a wall socket. |

| No light is emitted when the pulse activation button (2) is pressed | 1. Make sure the skin colour/device-is-ready LED (5C) flashes, which indicates good contact with the skin, and the surface treatment (1A) is evenly and firmly pressed on the skin. OR2. Verify the skin colour/device-is-ready LED (5C): if it flashes rapidly, the skin tone is too dark for safe application. Try to use the appliance on another part of the body or contact the IMETEC service centre. OR3. Check the green power level LEDs (5B): a system error is present if one or more power level LEDs (5B) flash while the skin colour/device-is-ready orange LED (5C) remains off.If the problem persists, contact the IMETEC Customer Service Centre. OR4. Verify whether the skin colour/device-is-ready orange LED (5C) and the green power level LEDs (5A) are flashing all at once. If this happens, disconnect the device from the power supply. The device has completed its operational life cycle and must be disposed of properly. |
