Follow the advice below for safe operations.

ON PROTECTION AGAINST LASER ENERGY EXPOSURE

• As the laser beam used in this compact disc player is harmful to the eyes, do not attempt to disassemble the casing.
• Stop operation immediately if any liquid or solid object should fall into the cabinet.
• Do not touch the lens or poke at it. If you do, you may damage the lens and the player may not operate properly.
• Do not put anything in the safety slot. If you do, the laser diode will be ON when the CD door is still open.
• If the unit is not to be used for a long period of time, make sure that all power sources are disconnected from the unit. Remove all batteries from the battery compartment.
• This unit employs a laser. The use of controls or adjustment or performance of procedures other than those specified here may result in exposure to hazardous radiation.

IMPORTANT NOTES

POWER SOURCES

This unit operates on AC 120V\~60Hz or 6 x DC 1.5V "C" size batteries. Do not attempt to operate the radio on any other power source. You could cause damage to the unit and void your warranty.

Please be sure the power outlet you plug this unit into is working and receives constant (unswitched) power.

AC OPERATION

1. When the AC power cord (included) is connected to the AC Power jack [14] on the back of the unit and the other end is plugged into a 120V AC\~ 60Hz wall outlet, the unit will disconnect the batteries automatically, and operate on AC power only.
2. Press the FUNC button [9] to turn the unit on and to change between CD, FM, FM ST., and AM modes. To turn the unit off, press and hold the FUNC button [9] until the LCD display reads "OFF."

1. Remove the Battery Compartment door [17].
2. Install 6 x 1.5V "C" size batteries (not included) according to the polarity diagram inside the battery compartment.
3. Close the Battery Compartment door [17].

IMPORTANT: Be sure that the batteries are installed correctly.

The wrong polarity may damage the unit and void the warranty.

For best performance and longer operating time, we recommend the use of good quality alkaline-type batteries.

CAUTION

1. Do not mix old and new batteries.
2. Do not mix alkaline, standard (carbon-zinc) or rechargeable (nickel-cadmium) batteries.
3. If the unit is not to be used for an extended period of time, remove the batteries and disconnect it from all power sources. Old or leaking batteries can cause damage to the unit and may void the warranty.
4. Do not incinerate batteries in fire to dispose of them; batteries may explode or leak. Follow all local regulations for the proper disposal of batteries.

BATTERY REPLACEMENT

When the output sound of this unit becomes distorted or the CD player operation appears unstable, the batteries are weak and need to be changed. Replace all of the exhausted batteries at the same time as soon as possible to avoid battery leakage.

SETTING THE FUNCTION MODE

Press the FUNC button [9] to wake the unit from Standby and to put it in one of the following function modes.

• FM: FM or FM stereo radio mode.
• AM: AM radio mode.
• CD: CD player mode.
• USB: USB player mode.
- AUX: AUX input player mode.

Press the FUNC button [9] to cycle through all of the function modes. The current function will be shown on the LCD screen [5].

To return the unit to Standby mode (OFF), press and hold the FUNC button [9].

RADIO FUNCTION (FM, AM)

1. Press the FUNC button [9] to choose the radio band (FM, AM).
2. To tune to a station, press the ▶/+ [6] or ▶/− button [7] to skip up or down the frequency range. Press and hold either button to quickly scan up or down the frequency range. When a station is found the search will stop and lock onto the station.
3. Press the VOL- [10] or VOL+ [11] buttons to adjust to the desired output level.

You can store up to 20 preset radio stations per radio band.

1. While listening to a tuned radio station, press and hold the MODE button [8] to enter into storing mode. Press the ▶/+ [6] or ◀/− [7] button to tune to a station.
2. When the station is selected, press the MODE button [8] once more to store the current station to the preset memory.
3. To tune to a preset station, press the MODE button [8] and then press the ▶/+ [6] or ◀/- [7] buttons to browse the preset station (1-20).

TIPS FOR BEST RECEPTION

AM – The AM antenna is located inside the cabinet of the unit. If AM reception is weak, change the position of the unit until the internal antenna picks up the strongest signal.

FM – If a stereo broadcast program is being received, the FM STEREO INDCATOR will light. During FM or FM Stereo reception, always keep the FM Telescopic Antenna [3] fully extended for best performance. However, if FM reception is weak, try repositioning the unit near an open window until you get the best reception.

CD FUNCTION

NOTE: THIS UNIT NOT ONLY PLAYS COMMERCIAL COMPACT DISCS BUT ALSO SELF-RECORDED CD-R/RW DISCS.

• Because of non-standardized format definition/production of CD-R/RW, playback quality & performance is not guaranteed.
• Manufacturer is not responsible for the playability of CD-R/RW due to recording conditions such as PC performance, writing software, media properties etc.
• Do not attach a label, seal, or sticker to either side of the CD-R/RW disc. It may cause a malfunction.

PLAY MODE

1. Press the FUNC button [9] to place the unit in "CD" mode.
2. Open the CD DOOR [2], load a CD with the label side facing up, and then close the CD door.
3. Disc information (total number of tracks) will appear on the LCD screen [5], and the unit will start playing the CD automatically. The LCD screen will show the TRACK No. that is being played.
4. While playing, press the PLAY/PAUSE [13] button to pause playback; the symbol “▶” will flash. Press the PLAY/PAUSE [13] button again to resume playing.
5. Adjust the volume level to a comfortable level by pressing the VOLUME- [10] or VOLUME+ [11] buttons.
6. Press the STOP button [12] to stop playback.

NOTE: If skipping occurs during CD play, try turning the volume down. Do not open the CD Door [2] when a CD is playing. Wait until the disc has stopped spinning completely before opening the CD door [2].

SKIP AND SEARCH MODE

1. Press the ▶/+ [6] or ◀/- [7] button to go to the next track or return to the beginning of the current track, respectively.
2. Press and hold the ▶/+ [6] or ◀/- [7] button to scan quickly through a track during CD playback.

REPEAT/RANDOM PLAYBACK MODES

Press the MODE button [8] to cycle through all of playback modes. The current mode will be shown on the LCD screen [5].

REP	Repeat 1	The current track will be repeated until it is interrupted.
REP ALL	Repeat All The whole disc will be played continuously.
RAND	Random	The tracks on the disc will be played in random order.

PROGRAM PLAY MODE

This function allows music tracks to be played in a programmed sequence.

NOTE: Program can only be set while the unit is in CD mode and playback has been stopped.

1. Press the MODE Button [8]. The CD Track Display will display "01" and "PROG" will blink on the LCD screen [5].
2. Press the ▶I/+ [6] or ◀◀/− [7] button to select the song to be saved in the program list.
3. Press the MODE button [8] again to save the track. The CD Track Display will advance to "02".
4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 to save as many as 20 tracks to the program list. If you attempt to program more than 20 tracks, the LCD screen [5] will read "FUL".
5. Press the PLAY/PAUSE button [13] to begin programmed play. The first track in program will appear in the LCD display [5]. Press the ▶/+ [6] or ◀/- [7] button to show all the programmed songs.
6. To cancel programmed play, press the STOP button [12].
7. As long as the unit remains on and the CD Door [2] is not opened, you can resume playing the program list at any time by pressing the MODE button [8] and then PLAY/PAUSE [13].
8. To skip 10 tracks at a time, press and hold the MODE button [8] for two seconds, and then press the ▶/+ [6] or ◀/- [7] button. To return to normal operation, press the MODE button [8] again, or wait 3 seconds without pressing a button.

USB FUNCTION

CONNECTING A USB DEVICE

1. Connect a USB flash memory drive to the USB port [16] located on the side of the unit.
2. Press the FUNC button [9] to switch to USB function mode. The unit will detect the USB flash memory drive and read any compatible MP3 files from it.
3. Press the PLAY/PAUSE button [13] to start playback; press the STOP button [12] to stop playback.

Remark: Depending on the capacity of the device, the reading can take more than 1 minute.

The unit cannot read my USB device.

1. If your USB device needs power, you may need to switch on before connecting it to the boombox.
2. This unit does not support a direct USB connection with a computer. You need to use a USB flash memory device, or an MP3 player.
3. If you are connecting a USB external hard disk: you may need to connect it to both an external power source and the boombox. If you are using a self-powered PMP, make sure that the battery is sufficiently charged.
4. Check that your USB device is formatted in the FAT or FAT 32 file system format. USB device formatted as NTFS are not compatible with this unit. Caution: if you attempt to modify your file system, formatting your device will erase all data. Please refer to your USB device's instruction manual first.

1. PLAY / PAUSE: Press the PLAY / PAUSE button [13] once to play an MP3. Press it again to pause playback.
2. Find your favorite track to play by pressing the ▶I/+ [6] or ◀◀/− [7] buttons to skip forward or backward.
3. The LCD display [5] will show the selected track number.
4. To repeat playback of a particular track, press MODE [8] once.
5. To repeat the whole tracks file, press MODE [8] again.
6. To repeat the entire CD playback, press MODE [8] again.
7. To play tracks in random order, press MODE [8] again.
8. To stop playback, press the STOP button [12].

AUX IN FUNCTION

This boombox features an AUX line-in jack for connecting your iPod, MP3 player or other digital music player.

1. Connect the headphone jack of your external device to the AUX IN jack [15] located on the back cabinet of the boombox. (The connection cable is not included).
2. Press the FUNC button [9] to place the unit in "AUX" mode.
3. Start to play your iPod, MP3 player or other external audio device.
4. Slowly adjust both volume controls on your boombox and the external device.
5. Turn off your iPod, MP3 player and etc. when you are finished listening. Turn the boombox off and unplug the device from the AUX IN jack [15].

CARE AND MAINTENANCE

1. Children should be supervised when using this appliance.
2. Never wrap the earphone lead around any animal or person. Special care should be taken with long wires.
3. Clean your unit with a slightly damp cloth moistened with water. The cloth should never be wet. Solvent or detergent should never be used.
4. Avoid leaving your unit in direct sunlight or in hot, humid or dusty places.
5. Keep your unit away from heating appliances and sources of electrical noise such as fluorescent lamps or motors.
6. If drop-outs or interruptions occur in the music during CD play, or if the CD fails to play at all, its bottom surface may require cleaning. Before playing, wipe the disc from the center outwards with a good soft cleaning cloth.

TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE
