Frequently Asked Questions - Sonicare AirFloss HX8221 PHILIPS

How do I charge the Philips Sonicare AirFloss HX8221?
Place the handle on the charging base. Plug the base into a power outlet. The battery indicator will flash during charging and become steady when fully charged. A full charge takes about 24 hours.
Can I use mouthwash in the AirFloss?
Yes, you can use mouthwash diluted with water (1:1 ratio) or water alone. Avoid using thick solutions that may clog the nozzle.
How often should I replace the nozzle?
Replace the nozzle every 6 months or when the blue indicator on the nozzle fades to white. Using a worn nozzle reduces effectiveness.
What do the different burst modes do?
The AirFloss has two modes: Single burst releases one burst per trigger, and Double burst releases two bursts in quick succession. Double burst is recommended for thorough cleaning.
How do I clean the AirFloss?
After each use, rinse the reservoir and nozzle with water. Once a week, clean the handle with a damp cloth. Do not submerge the handle. Use a toothpick to clean the nozzle hole if clogged.
Is the AirFloss waterproof?
Yes, the handle is IPX7 rated, meaning it can be rinsed under the tap. However, do not immerse in water for extended periods.
Why is the AirFloss not producing spray?
First, ensure the reservoir has water. If it’s empty, refill. If the nozzle is clogged, clean it with a pin. Also check that the battery is charged.
Can I travel with the AirFloss?
Yes, it is travel-friendly. Pack the handle, charging base, and nozzle. Note that the charging base is not waterproof and should be kept dry.
What is the difference between AirFloss and floss?
The AirFloss uses bursts of air and microdroplets to clean between teeth. It is easier for those with dexterity issues and can be faster than traditional floss, but it may not remove all plaque as effectively.
How do I know when the battery is low?
The battery indicator on the handle will flash amber when the battery is low. Charge it promptly.
