How to turn on the scale?

Place the scale on a flat, stable surface. Briefly press the power button (usually located under the display) to turn it on. The screen will show 0 g.

How to use the tare function?

Place the empty container on the scale, then press the 'TARE' or 'ZERO' button. The display will reset to zero. Then add the ingredients: the net weight will be shown.

How to change the measurement unit?

Press the 'UNIT' or 'MODE' button to switch between available units: grams (g), kilograms (kg), pounds (lb), and ounces (oz). The selected unit will appear on the display.

What to do if the display shows 'Err' or '----'?

This usually indicates an overload. Remove weight until the display returns to normal. If the problem persists, check that the scale is not damaged or that the batteries are still good.

When and how to replace the batteries?

Replace the batteries when the low battery indicator appears or if the display darkens. Open the battery compartment on the back (usually with a screwdriver), remove the old batteries, and insert two new AAA batteries observing polarity (+/-).

The scale does not turn on, what to do?

First check that the batteries are correctly installed and not depleted. If necessary, replace them with new ones. Also ensure the scale is not in sleep mode: if it remains off, contact customer service.

How to clean the glass platform?

Use a slightly damp soft cloth with a little mild soap. Then wipe with a dry cloth. Never use abrasive or corrosive products, and never immerse the scale in water.

What is the maximum capacity of the scale?

The Clatronic KW 3416 scale can weigh up to 5 kg (11 lb) with an accuracy of 1 g. Do not exceed this limit to avoid damaging the device.

How to enable/disable the auto-off?

The auto-off is enabled by default and cannot be disabled. The scale automatically turns off after about 2 minutes of inactivity to save batteries.

Can I use the scale with rechargeable batteries?

Yes, rechargeable AAA (1.2 V) batteries can be used. However, the lifespan will be shorter than with alkaline batteries. Make sure the batteries are fully charged.

Children and Frail Individuals

WARNING:

Caution! Do not allow small children to play with the foil as there is a danger of suffocation!

- Children should be supervised at all times in order to ensure that they do not play with the device.

Handling batteries

WARNING:

• Do not expose the batteries to high temperatures or direct sunlight. Never throw batteries into the fire. There is a danger of explosion!
• Keep batteries away from children. They are not a toy!
• Do not open the batteries by force.
• Avoid contact with metallic objects. (Rings, nails, screws et cetera.) There is a danger of short-circuiting!
• As a result of a short-circuit batteries may heat up considerably or even catch fire. This may result in burns.

WARNING:

• For your own safety the battery poles should be covered with adhesive strips during transport.
• If a battery leaks do not rub the liquid into your eyes or mucous membranes. If hands come into contact with the liquid they should be washed thoroughly and eyes rinsed out with clear water; if symptoms persist please consult a doctor.

Inserting the batteries

NOTE:

Where required, the supplied batteries have been protected for transport with plastic foil.

1. Remove this foil before inserting the batteries into the appliance.
2. Open the battery compartment on the back.
3. Insert 3 batteries of type AAA/R03. Please ensure that the polarity is correct (see the loor of the battery compartment)!
4. Close the battery compartment again.
5. If the device is not used for a prolonged period of time, please take the batteries out in order to prevent leakage of battery acid.
6. Should the Battery Low symbol “+ - shown in the display, change the batteries.

CAUTION:

• Different battery types or new and used batteries must not be used together.
• Batteries are not to be disposed of together with domestic wastes. Dispose of the used batteries at the relevant collection bin or at your dealer's.

Display Indication

Time

The time is displayed in the top left hand section of the display in 12 hour format.

AM: morning

PM: afternoon

To update the time, proceed as follows:

1. Keep the TIME button pressed until the hours display flashes.
2. Select the setting for the hours with the TARE or UNIT buttons. Confirm your entry with the TIME button.
3. Select the setting for the minutes with the TARE or UNIT button.
4. Save your entry with the TIME button

Temperature

The unit detects the current ambient temperature. It is displayed in the bottom left hand section of the display.

Using the Scales

The kitchen balance was developed to display the weight of food and ingredients.

Switching On

• Place the scales on a flat, smooth surface.
• Press the button.
• All segments are briefly illuminated in the display followed by "0" and "0.0".

Weighing

• Use the UNIT button to select the desired unit of measurement: "g", "lb", "oz" or "kg".
• Wait until the symbol indicates that the scales are ready to weigh.
• Place the goods you want to weigh at the middle centre of the scales. The ▲ symbol confirms that the measuring result is ready.

Tare Function

If you would like to add a further ingredient to the first ingredient and then weigh it:

• Press the TARE button briefly. The symbol indicates that the unit is in Tare mode.
• The scales are reset to "0". Wait until the symbol indicates that the scales are ready to weigh.
• If you now place further ingredients on the scales their weight is displayed.

Switching Off

If you would like to turn the scales off, keep the button pressed down fur approximately one second.

i NOTE:

With the automatic switch-off the scales turn off automatically after approximately 85 seconds.

Storage

Keep the appliance in a clean, dry place.

Cleaning

CAUTION:

• Do not immerse the appliance in water: the electronic components can be damaged.
• Do not use a wire brush or any abrasive items.

• Do not use any acidic or abrasive detergents.

• Clean the device with a slightly moist cloth. Make sure that no humidity or waters seeps into the device!

• Dry the device well after cleaning with a dry and soft cloth.
