How to clean the hot plate?

Before cleaning, unplug the appliance and let it cool down completely. Clean with a damp cloth. Never use abrasive detergents or scouring powder. Never immerse the appliance in water.

Why is there smoke during first use?

The hot plate is supplied with a protective coating that burns off during first use. Turn the appliance to the maximum setting for 10 minutes to remove this coating. Some smoke may be emitted, this is normal.

What types of pots can I use?

Use pots with a flat bottom and a diameter suitable for the hot plate. Pots with a curved bottom or those that are too small will not heat effectively.

How to adjust the temperature?

Turn the thermostat knob clockwise. Position 1 corresponds to the lowest temperature and MAX to the highest. The red indicator light turns on during heating and off when the temperature is reached.

Can I leave the appliance unsupervised?

No, never use the appliance unattended. Unplug it after use and let it cool down before storing.

What to do if the appliance does not heat?

Check that the plug is properly inserted and the socket works. Make sure the thermostat is not set to 0. If the problem persists, contact an approved repair center.

Can I use an extension cord?

No, the use of an extension cord or timer device is prohibited for safety reasons.

How to avoid burning the table?

Always place a heat-resistant trivet between the hot plate and the table or tablecloth to prevent damage.

• This appliance is not intended to be used by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instructions concerning the use of the appliance by a person that is responsible for their safety.

• Make sure that the cord is not hanging over the edge of the table or counter, does not touch any hot surfaces or is coming directly into contact with the hot parts of the appliance. Do not place the appliance underneath or close to curtains, window coverings etc.
  • Make sure the cord does not touch the hot parts of the appliance.
  • We advise to place a heat resistant coating between your table and the appliance (this way you don't get burns on your table or table cloth).
• Do not use this appliance in the bathroom or near a sink filled with water. If this appliance has fallen into the water do not under no circumstances directly grab this appliance, but first pull the plug from the socket.
  * Competent qualified repair service: after sales department of the producer or importer or any person who is qualified, approved and competent to perform this kind of repairs in order to avoid all danger. In any case you should return the appliance to this repair service.

BeFoRe The FIRST uSe

• Take the appliance and accessories out the box. Remove the stickers, protective foil or plastic from the device.
• Clean the plate with a damp cloth.
• Connect the power cable to the socket. (Note: Make sure the voltage which is indicated on the device matches the local voltage before connecting the device. Voltage 220V-240V 50/60Hz)
• The heating plate is provided with a protective layer which for the first use should be removed. Switch the device and select the highest setting for 10 minutes. There may be created some smoke by the protection which now lit the heating plate. Then you can switch off the cooker or use it.

uSe

• Turn on the hot plate by turning the switch clockwise. The red control light lights up.
• You can select the desired temperature by turning the knob clockwise, 1 for the lowest temperature and 'MAX' for the highest level.
• If the temperature which belong to the set position is reached, the red control light turns off.
  • After the temperature dropped, the thermostat will turn the hot plate back on again.

cleaNINg

• Unplug, before cleaning, the plug from the socket and allow the plate to cool down completely.
• Do not use toxic and abrasive cleaners such as gasoline, scouring powder or solvent. A normal kitchen cleaner or detergent is sufficient.
• Never immerse the appliance in water or other liquid.
• Remove the cooking residues immediately.
• Beware! The plate is hot.

eNeRgy SaVINg TIPS

• Use only pans with a diameter equal to the hotplate.
• Use only pots and pans with a flat bottom
• If possible keep the lid on the pan while cooking
• Cook vegetables, potatoes, etc. with little water to shorten the cooking time.
• Use the correct temperatures for the different meals to prepare.

• Tristar is not liable for damages occurred through:
  o In case the appliance has fallen.
  o In case the appliance has been technically changed by the owner or another third party.
  o In case of improper use of the appliance.
  o In case of normal wear of the appliance.
• By executing repairs the original warranty period of 2 years will not be extended, nor the right to a complied new warranty. This warranty is only legal on European soil. This warranty does not overrule the European directive 1944/44CE.
• Always keep your receipt, without this receipt you can not claim any form of warranty whatsoever.
• Damage caused by not following the instruction manual will lead to a void of warranty, if this results in consequential damages Tristar will not be liable.
• Tristar will not be liable for material damage or personal injury caused by improper use or if the safety instructions are not properly executed.
• Cleaning, as mentioned in this manual, is the only necessary maintenance for this appliance.
• When the appliance should be repaired, make sure that this will be performed by an authorized company.
  • This appliance may not be amended or changed.
• If problems arise during the 2 years from the date of purchase, which are covered by the factory warranty, you can go back to the point of purchase to replace it for a new one.
• For questions or compliances please contact your retailer "point of purchase."
• This appliance is covered with a 24 month guarantee starting on the date of purchase (receipt).
