Frequently Asked Questions - 500741 MuxLab

How do I set the SDI link mode?
Use DIP switches 2 and 3 on the front panel. For Single Link: both UP. For Dual Link: 2 UP, 3 DOWN. For Quad Link: 2 DOWN, 3 UP. Alternatively, if DIP switch 1 is DOWN (USB control), you can set the link mode via the MuxLab SDI Manager software under the Video tab.
Can I control the converter without software?
Yes. Set DIP switch 1 to UP for hardware control mode. Then the SDI mode and other settings are configured via the DIP switches on the front panel.
What resolutions are supported?
The HDMI 2.0 input supports up to 4K/60fps (4:4:4), including 4096x2160p 60/50/30/25/24fps and 3840x2160p 60/50/30/25/24fps, as well as 1080p and 1080i formats. The SDI output mirrors the input format.
How do I update the firmware?
Connect the converter to a Windows PC via Mini-USB. Open MuxLab SDI Manager software, go to the 'F/W Update' tab. Select the provided BIN/FIN files (up to three), click 'Start', and wait for the progress bar. After all files are uploaded, power cycle the device.
Why are the LEDs red?
Red LEDs indicate a video signal is not locked. Check that the source is powered and connected properly. Ensure the HDMI input or SDI output is within supported resolution and format. A green LED means a locked signal.
What audio formats are supported?
The converter supports 8-channel, 24-bit audio. HDMI audio can go up to 192 kHz sampling rate; SDI audio is fixed at 48 kHz. You can mute/unmute audio via the software under the Audio tab.
Can I loop out HDMI while converting to SDI?
Yes. The converter has a dedicated HDMI loop out port that outputs the same HDMI signal as the input, allowing you to connect a local monitor or another device.
How do I reset the device to factory defaults?
In the MuxLab SDI Manager software, go to the 'Settings' tab and click 'Reset'. The device will reboot and reconnect. Alternatively, power cycle the device with DIP switches set to default positions (all down).
