1.1 Functions and features

With this USB 3.0 Gigabit Networking Adapter, you can use the USB port on your computer to connect to a 10/100/1000 Base network. The EM1017 is compatible with both USB 1.1, USB 2.0 and USB 3.0. Suited for Windows XP/Vista/7/8 32 bit and 64 bit.

1.3 Before you start

Your computer needs to have one available USB port to install the network adapter (preferably USB 3.0 for maximum connection speed 1000Mbps). The network adapter can also be used in combination with a USB hub; in this case you need to use a hub which comes with an external power supply to assure optimum performance.

2.0 The installation procedure

2.1 Installing the driver on Windows XP/Vista/7/8

1. Insert the installation CD-ROM in the CD- or DVD-ROM drive of your computer.
2. Choose your language.
3. Click 'Next'.
4. Select your operating system.
5. Wait for the installation to complete.
6. Click 'Finish'.
7. Remove the CD-ROM.
8. Windows will ask you if you want to restart your computer.
9. Click 'Yes'.
10. Connect the EM1017 to a USB port on your computer.
11. Connect the network cable to the EM1017 network adapter.
12. Your EM1017 has now been installed.

Note! Windows might suggest to download and install the drivers using Windows Update. Follow the steps on screen to continue.

2.2 Installing the driver on Macintosh OS 10.X or higher

1. Insert the installation CD-ROM in the CD- or DVD-ROM drive, or download the driver from our website.
2. Open Finder.
3. Go to the CD-ROM.
4. Open the folder 'software/MacOS'.
5. Launch the .dmg file.
6. the following "DISK IMAGE" virtual disk will be appeared on the Desktop of your Mac OSX system. (This "DISK IMAGE" virtual disk will be auto-removed after rebooting Mac OSX system.)

1. Click the "AX88179_178A_v1.2.0.pkg", the following driver setup dialog will appear.

1. Click the [Continue] button to start the installation operation and follow the instructions to continue the installation.
2. Click the [Install] button to continue the installation operation. You might need to enter your user/password during the driver installation.

Standard Install on "Macintosh HD" Introduction Destination Select Installation Type Installation Summary This will take 168 KB of space on your computer. Click Install to perform a standard installation of this software on the disk "Macintosh HD". Change Install Location... Go Back Install

1. Click the [Continue Installation] button to continue the installation operation.

When this software finishes installing, you must restart your computer. Are you sure you want to install the software now?

1. Click the [Restart] button to restart Mac OSX system to take effect the revised driver installation.

The five-year Eminent warranty applies to all Eminent products, unless mentioned otherwise before or during the moment of purchase. After buying a second-hand Eminent product the remaining period of warranty is measured from the moment of purchase by the product's initial owner. Eminent warranty applies to all Eminent products and parts, indissolubly connected or mounted to the product it concerns. Power supply adapters, batteries, antennas and all other products not directly integrated in or connected to the main product or products of which, without reasonable doubt, can be assumed that wear and tear during use will show a different pattern than the main product, are not covered by the Eminent warranty. Products are not covered by the Eminent warranty when exposed to incorrect/improper use, external influences or when opening the service parts of the product by parties other than Eminent. Eminent may use refurbished materials for repair or replacement of your defective product. Eminent cannot be held responsible for changes in network settings by internet providers. We cannot guarantee that the Eminent networking product will keep working when settings are changed by the internet providers. Eminent cannot guarantee the working of web services, apps and other third party content that is available through Eminent products. Eminent products with an internal hard disk have a limited warranty period of two years on the hard disk. Eminent could not be held responsible for any data lost. Please make sure that if the product stores data on a hard drive or other memory source, you will make a copy before you return the product for repair.
