USER MANUAL Imperial Drums Chocolate Audio

We hope you'll make the best out of this carefully crafted Virtual Instrument.

Requirements

This Instrument requires that you have installed the Full Version of Kontakt 5.5.2 or newer. It will not work with the free Kontakt Player.

RAM memory requirements depend largely on the type of instrument and the number being loaded: a full kit might need between 800 and 2000 MB of RAM. Make sure that your computer has enough RAM to cope with your host DAW needs and this and other libraries' needs.

When using more instruments at the same time, a fast hard disk drive or an SSD is warmly suggested.

Unpacking

Once you have downloaded the Install files following the instructions from the purchase email, please follow these steps:

1. The RAR compressed files (.rar, .r01, .r02 or part1.rar, part2.rar ...) need a specific application in order to be opened.

1.1. PC users might use 7-zip, an open source tool for compressed files: http://www.7-zip.org.

1.2. MAC users might use The Unarchiver: https://theunarchiver.com.

1.3. These are freeware open-source option but there many other free and commercial alternatives available on both platforms to open RAR files.

1. The eventual ZIP files might be uncompressed by the OS itself or not. In case of need refer to Winzip or similar apps for PC and Mac.

Installing

Once all of the RAR and ZIP files are unpacked, you can move the Instrument folder to your favorite location, then move the Samples folder extracted by the large multi-part files inside the Instrument Folder.

Please keep and eventually make back-up copies of the installers since they might be useful in case of data-loss, without requiring a full re-download of the whole package.

IMPORTANT! Batch Re-Saving

It is very important that, even before the first loading of your Instrument, .nki or nkm., to do a Batch Re-Save of the whole Instrument folder (the one including all nki's, nkm's, resources and samples).

1. Click on the Files menu and select Batch Re-Save

1. Click "Yes" on the following Warning dialog. Not before having read through it.

Kontakt 5 WARNING: using this tool will affect and alter multiple patches at once! You should only use it if you know exactly what you are doing!! All currently loaded Instruments will be discarded. Really proceed? No Yes

1. Select the Folder containing all Samples, Instruments (nki's, nkm's) and other resources.
2. Wait for Kontakt to finish its job and eventually help it find references to files or folder it might not readily find.
3. Now, each time you load up an nki or nkm from that Instrument you will be assured to have the fastest possible loading times and no more annoying dialogs.

Loading

Kontakt Instruments not based on the protected NI scheme, can be loaded in one of the following ways:

1. Drag & Drop the .nki file onto the main Kontakt interface.

1. Use the Kontakt Browser to find the .nki file and either Double-Click or Drag & Drop to the main interface.

Quick Load

You can use Kontakt's Quick Load feature to easily access the Instrument.

1. Click on the "Quick" button on top of Kontakt's interface.

1. Eventually, you can organize instruments in collection by creating folders inside the Quick Load window (right-Click on PC or ctrl-Click on Mac).

Concept and Structure

Drum Particles is thought out to help you in the following scenarios:

• Simplify workflow and reduce memory and CPU footprint when you do not need a full drum kit in the production you are doing

• Drum triggering

• easily assign more than one drum or sample to the same MIDI Key allowing for real time drum replacement or layering using any of the available drum triggering plugins

• use the embedded audio to Midi functions present on many platforms (Logic, Sonar...)

• Stack as many drums as you want on a single Midi key

• Create hybrid kits using our sounds or integrate other developers' kits with our drums
• Open up endless sound design possibilities having the chance to layer, re-direct, retune, change envelope on each drums separately
• Finely tune the velocity response of each drum allowing you to better complement a live e-drumming or finger-drumming or to create velocity split stacks of different sounds

Main Panel

- Control up to 10 different mono or stereo close/room mic channels at once using:

- Separate Output assignment

• Detune the drum in semitones and cents for a very vine and numerical access to tuning parameters
• Allow/disallow Round Robin (automatic choice of similar but different samples each consecutive time a drum is hit)
• Select which Round Robin sample to always play back when Enable RR is deactivated (up to 12 RR based on drum)
• Control drum envelope with Attack, Hold and Decay parameters

• Control the way the Instrument responds to the input velocity:

• set the minimum/maximum velocity value which will trigger a sound

• set the velocity response curve
• activate and set the min and max for the Dynamic Range function: this setting allows you to play, say, the first 3 dynamics of a drum sound across the whole velocity range.

Ctrl-Click (PC) and Cmd-Click (Mac) sets each Pot to its default value

HINT: every Pot and Button in Kontakt is assignable to a MIDI CC (right click on it and find out)

Mapping Panel

• Choose one of the available mapping presets
• Save or Delete your own mapping presets

• Rename the preset before saving clicking on the current preset name
  Customize mapping by:

• Selecting the Midi key to be mapped using the drop down menu or the Midi Listen function

• Readout the current articulation eventually assigned to the selected Midi key
• select one of the available articulations
• click on the assignment button to assign it to the current Midi key
• Doing so overwrites any previous eventual assignment
• Remove an assignment from the currently selected Midi key (X)

Multi-Output Management in Kontakt

• Kontakt allows you a very flexible, albeit rather convoluted, way of managing multiple audio outputs to your DAW host.
• In Kontakt each instrument can access any internal channel which can address any connection to the outer world.
• To help you with this we set up Multis (those .nkm files) which are already prepared for 16 stereo outs.
• First of all you need to load a multi-output enabled version of Kontakt inside your DAW.
• Please select the 16 stereo outs of Kontakt.
  • Eventually create the auxiliary audio channels required in your DAW (some do it automatically, some not).
• Load one of the .nkm Multis. Since Kontakt output config is saved with the Multi, it will be loaded back with it.
• Click on Output in Kontakt.

- Now, with the Multi loaded, you can delete any of the instruments and/or load others ending in "MO" (Multi-Output) and they will be already mapped with the proper outputs.

With this library, you are obtaining a license for your use only. The sounds, images, presets, samples and programming are the property of Chocolate Audio and are licensed (not sold) to you for use in music production, public performance, and reasonable musical purposes within musical compositions.

This license expressly forbids distribution of these sounds, either as they exist in this form or any modification thereof. Any duplicating, copying, distributing, transferring, uploading or downloading, trading of these libraries or any of the contents therein is strictly prohibited. You cannot sell, loan, share, rent, lease, trade, reissue nor assign any or all of the enclosed sounds to anyone. You cannot redistribute them through an archive, nor a collection, nor through the Internet, nor binaries groups, nor newsgroup, nor any type of removable media nor through a network. The sounds and samples contained herein cannot be edited, digitally altered, re-synthesized or manipulated without direct written consent of Chocolate Audio. The enclosed sounds cannot be re-used in any other commercial sample library or any competitive product.

A right to use any of the samples and sounds in this collection is granted to the original end-user only, and this license is not transferable unless there is written consent of Chocolate Audio or its representative and payment of an eventual additional fee. Resale is allowed, granted that the original Licensee communicates to the Licensor (Chocolate Audio) the terms of the transfer, including the full name and email address of the new Licensee. This process always requires authorization from Chocolate Audio and it's not granted per se. Transfer of License fees are detailed in the F.A.Q. page and are free, unless differently specified and/or unless the license transfer has to happen via an external agent who might require license transfer fee (for example Expansion with BFD libraries).
