BEFORE FIRST USE

  1. Remove the exterior and interior packing.
  2. Before connecting the appliance to the power source, let it stand upright for approximately 2 hours. This will reduce the possibility of a malfunction in the cooling system from handling during transportation.
  3. Clean the interior surface with lukewarm water using a soft cloth.

INSTALLATION

  1. The unit is designed to be free standing only it should not be recessed or built-in.
  2. To ensure that your Wine Cooler works at the maximum efficiency, allow 5" (12.5cm) of space between the back and sides of the appliance.

  3. Place the Wine Cooler on a flat level surface that is strong enough to support it when fully loaded.

  4. DO NOT place next to any appliance that emits large amounts of heat, such as a dishwasher, microwave, oven, toaster, etc. or in direct sunlight. Direct sunlight may affect the acrylic coating and heat sources may increase electrical consumption.
  5. Extreme cold or hot ambient temperatures may also cause the appliance not to perform properly.
  6. To help with door closure, position legs with a 1/8" (3 mm) tilt to the back. Adjust the leveling legs by turning clockwise to raise and counterclockwise to lower.
  7. Gently slide the racks into the unit.

Reversing the Door

Your wine cellar has been built to open from the right, however, it has been designed to open from either side and can easily be changed by following the procedure below. You will need a screwdriver and putty knife or other thin flat device to remove the hinge covers. Use care to prevent scratching the surfaces.

  1. Unplug the Wine Cellar from the wall outlet and empty, including the shelves.
  2. Remove the upper hinge cover and the screws that hold the hinge to the frame. Remove the upper hinge.
  3. Lift the door and place it on a padded surface to protect the door from scratches.
  4. Remove the screws that hold the lower hinge. Remove the hinge.
  5. Remove the door plug and move it to the opposite side.
  6. Install the lower hinge on the correct side and screw into place.
  7. Replace the door and ensure that it is seated correctly in the lower hinge.
  8. Hold the door in the closed position and loosely secure the upper hinge with the screws. Level the door then tighten the screws.
  9. Install the cover on the upper hinge.

HOW TO USE

Temperature Selection

  1. Plug into a 120 volt outlet.
  2. Turn the Temperature Control Dial to setting #5 and allow the Wine Cellar to run for 2 - 3 hours before adding wine bottles and making any temperature adjustments.
  3. Once wine is added to the Wine Cellar the temperature may rise slightly. Wine stored in the Wine Cellar will be at temperature after 10 hours of storage. The Temperature Control Dial should not be changed in the first 10 hours from the time the wine has been added.
  4. Generally, the cabinet temperature range is between 4-18°C (39.2 - 64.4 F).
  5. The thermostat setting of 1 is the warmest and 5 is the coldest.

HELPFUL HINTS

  1. After loading your wine, you may notice an increase in the temperature. Allow approximately 10 hours of storage for your wine to be at the desired temperature.
  2. Eliminate unnecessary movement of your wine. Once a wine bottle has been put into your cellar, it should stay there until it is opened.
  3. Table wine is stored horizontally so that the wine stays in contact with the cork. This keeps the cork moist and prevents air from entering the wine.
  4. If bottles are stored with the labels up, it will be easier to see the deposit of sediment that forms on the opposite side of the bottle when it comes time to open it.
  5. Ensure your wine is enjoyed at its best; serve it at its ideal temperature.

CARE AND CLEANING

Cleaning

  1. Turn the Temperature Control Dial to '0'. Unplug the appliance, and remove the wine and the shelves.
  2. Wash the inside surfaces with a warm water and baking soda solution. The solution should be about 2 tbsp. (30 ml) of baking soda to a quart (litre) of water.
  3. Wash the shelves with a mild detergent solution.
  4. The outside of the appliance should be cleaned with mild detergent and warm water. Rinse well and wipe dry with a clean soft cloth.
  5. Wring excess water out of the sponge or cloth before cleaning the area of the controls, or any electrical parts.
  6. The vinyl door gasket may be cleaned with mild soap and water or a baking soda solution. Rinse well.

Defrosting

  1. Defrost the Wine Cooler when the frost accumulated on the evaporator is about 5mm (1/5") thick.
  2. Set the Temperature Control Dial to the '0' position. Defrosting will usually take a few hours.
  3. To Defrost quickly, remove the wine and leave the door open. NOTE: Never use a knife or other metal instrument to scrape ice/frost from the evaporator.

CAUTION: Failure to unplug the appliance could result in electrical shock or personal injury.

Power Failure

Most power failures are corrected within a few hours and should not affect the temperature of your appliance if you minimize the number of times the door is opened.

NOTE: If the unit is unplugged, has lost power, or is turned off; you must wait 3 to 5 minutes before restarting the unit. If you attempt to restart before this time delay, damage may occur and or the appliance may not start.

Vacations

  • Short vacations: Leave the appliance operating during vacations of less than three weeks.
  • Long vacations: If the appliance will not be used for several months, remove all items and unplug the power cord. Clean and dry the interior thoroughly. To prevent odor and mold growth, leave the door open slightly: blocking it open if necessary.

Moving your Wine Cellar

  1. Remove all contents and store properly.
  2. Securely tape down all loose items inside your appliance.
  3. Turn the leveling screw up to the base to avoid damage.
