Frequently Asked Questions - CMG20SMBLI-07 CANDY

What type of cookware can I use in the Candy CMG20SMBLI-07 microwave?
Use heat-resistant ceramic, glass, or plastic containers. Never use metal containers or those with metal trim. For grill and combination modes, only heat-resistant ceramic and glass are suitable. Avoid plastic wrap touching high-fat foods.
How do I clean the microwave interior?
Unplug the oven and let it cool. Wipe the interior, door seals, and waveguide cover with a damp cloth and dry thoroughly. Do not use abrasive cleaners, gasoline, or metal brushes. For odors, heat lemon slices or orange peel in a cup of water for 2-3 minutes.
Can I use the microwave if the door or seals are damaged?
No. If the door or door seals are damaged, do not operate the oven until it is repaired by a trained person. Operating with damaged seals may cause microwave leakage.
How do I defrost food in this microwave?
Place food on the turntable and select a low power level (e.g., M.Low at 30% power). For example, 200g defrosts in about 4 minutes, 400g in 8 minutes, and 600g in 12 minutes. Turn or stir food halfway for even defrosting.
What is the maximum cooking time?
The timer knob allows up to 35 minutes. At the end, a bell rings and the knob returns to '0'. For longer cooking, you can reset the timer after it stops.
Why is my microwave not heating?
Check if the door is closed properly, the timer is set, and the power supply is working. Test with a cup of water for 1 minute. If the light and fan work but water is cold, contact a service center. Disconnect and discharge high-voltage capacitor before any repair.
Can I place the microwave in a cabinet?
No. The microwave must be freestanding with at least 10 cm clearance at the back, 5 cm on sides, and 20 cm above. It should not be built into a cabinet.
How do I use the grill function?
Place food on the grill rack and select a combination mode (e.g., 80% microwave + 100% grill). The grill allows browning and crisping. Use only heat-resistant ceramic or glass containers for combined cooking.
Is the interior light supposed to turn off when the door is closed?
Yes, the interior lamp should go off when the door is properly closed. If it stays on, the door may not be sealed correctly, which could affect operation.
What should I do if smoke appears during use?
Immediately switch off or unplug the appliance and keep the door closed to stifle flames. Do not open the door until smoke subsides. This can happen if food with high fat content overheats or if grease builds up.

COOKING TIPS

The following factors may affect the cooking result:

Food arrangement

Place thicker areas towards outside of dish, the thinner part towards the centre and spread it evenly. Do not overlap if possible.

Cooking time length

Start cooking with a short time setting, evaluate it after it times out and extend it according to the actual need. Over cooking may result in smoke and burns.

Cooking food evenly

Food such as chicken, hamburger or steak should be turned once

during cooking.

Depending on the type of food, if applicable, stir it from outside to centre of dish once or twice during cooking

Allow standing time

After cooking times out, leave the food in the oven for an adequate length of time, this allows it to complete its cooking cycle and cooling it down in a gradual manner

Whether the food is done

Color and hardness of food help to determine if it is done, these include:

  • Steam coming out from all parts of food, not just the edge
  • Joints of poultry can be moved easily
  • Pork or poultry shows no signs of blood
  • Fish is opaque and can be sliced easily with a fork

Browning dish

When using a browning dish or self-heating container, always place a heat-resistant insulator such as a porcelain plate under it to prevent damage to the turntable and rotating ring.

Microwave safe plastic wrap

When cooking food with high fat content, do not allow the plastic wrap come into contact with food as it may melt

Microwave safe plastic cookware

Some microwave safe plastic cookware might not be suitable for cooking foods with high fat and sugar content. Also, the preheating time specified in the dish instruction manual must not be exceeded.
