Frequently Asked Questions - 2507DK-LF Irritrol

What is the purpose of the pressure regulator in the Irritrol 2507DK-LF kit?
The pressure regulator ensures a consistent downstream pressure of 25 psi, which is optimal for drip irrigation systems. It protects emitters from high pressure and ensures uniform water distribution.
How do I install the Y-filter and pressure regulator correctly?
First, thread the Y-filter inlet into the valve outlet using PTFE tape. Angle the Y-filter slightly downward. Then thread the pressure regulator inlet into the Y-filter outlet. Ensure flow direction arrows are aligned with water flow.
What type of tape should I use on threaded connections?
Use PTFE tape (1.5 to 2 turns) on male threads. Do not use pipe dope. Tighten finger-tight, then add one or two more turns. Over-tightening can crack female threads.
How many drip emitters can I connect to one 2507DK-LF valve?
Refer to Table 1 in the manual. For 0.5 GPH emitters, max 960; for 1.0 GPH, max 480; for 2.0 GPH, max 240. These numbers assume proper filtration and pressure regulation.
Can I use this kit underground?
Yes, it is recommended to install the valve assembly below grade in a valve box for protection and ease of service. Ensure the box is large enough for access.
What is the purpose of the manual bleed on the valve?
The manual bleed allows you to open or close the valve manually without electrical power. It is useful for testing, flushing, or emergency shut-off.
How do I adapt the kit for dripline applications?
Install the provided 3/4" MPT x 1/2" Slip fitting and CA-710 dripline compression adapter onto the pressure regulator outlet. This allows connection to standard dripline.
How should I flush the system after installation?
Open the valve manually and allow water to flow for several minutes to flush out any debris. Use a bucket or hose to direct water away. Ensure the Y-filter is cleaned if necessary.
What should I do if the valve does not close completely?
Check for debris in the valve or Y-filter. Clean the screen and ensure the solenoid is functioning. Verify that the flow control is not set too high. If problem persists, consult the full manual.
What is the maximum operating pressure for the 2507DK-LF kit?
The control valve has an operating pressure range of 10–150 psi. However, the downstream pressure is regulated to 25 psi. Ensure supply pressure does not exceed 150 psi.
