How do I connect the satellite speaker to the active speaker?

Use the supplied speaker wire. Connect the red terminal to red and black to black on the spring terminals labelled 'Satellite speaker connection' on the active speaker.

What power supply does the QR5B require?

It requires a 230Vac, 50Hz mains supply. Use the attached mains lead and ensure the voltage is correct before connecting.

How can I adjust the sound output?

Use the Volume control for overall level. Adjust Bass and Treble controls for tonal response. Center position is flat, left cut, right boost.

Why is there no output and the power LED is not lit?

Check that the power switch is set to 'On', the mains lead is in good condition, and the mains outlet is working.

Why does sound only come from one speaker?

Verify the wire connecting the active to satellite speaker is properly inserted into the spring terminals. Also check the signal lead is connected correctly.

How do I mount the speakers on a wall?

Attach the supplied wall-mount brackets to a solid surface with suitable fixings. Fix the speaker units to the brackets using the screw caps at top and bottom. Ensure the active speaker is near a mains outlet.

What safety precautions should I take?

Do not expose the unit to rain or moisture. Do not remove the rear cover as there are no user serviceable parts. Allow adequate space for cooling at the rear of the active speaker.

How should I clean the speakers?

Use a soft cloth with a neutral detergent to clean the cabinet, panel, and controls. Do not use solvents or abrasive cleaners.

What should I do if the output is distorted?

Turn down the Volume control. Also check that the sound source output level is not too high for the input (max 290mV). Adjust the source volume accordingly.

Can I use the QR5B with a computer?

Yes, connect your computer's audio output (headphone or line out) to the L+R RCA inputs using a suitable 3.5mm to RCA cable.

Thank you for choosing the QR5 active speaker set. Please read this manual prior to use to avoid damage to the item. These compact, self-contained stereo speaker sets are designed to deliver high quality near-field or perimeter coverage for various monitoring and installed sound applications.

Setting up

For near-field or desktop use, space speakers apart for adequate stereo separation depending on proximity to the listener. For installations using the supplied wall-mount brackets, attach the brackets to a solid surface using fixings which are sufficient to hold the weight of the active speaker. Take care to mount the active unit close enough to a mains outlet for the supplied adaptor to reach. Fix the speaker units to the brackets at top and bottom using the supplied screw caps. Each can be rotated to aim the general direction of sound output.

If the speakers are mounted at height or where falling objects may be hazardous, it is advised to attach a secondary means of support (e.g. drop-wire or chain)

Operation

Link the satellite speaker to the spring terminals on the powered speaker (5) using the supplied speaker lead (connecting red to red and black to black)

With the rotary VOLUME (3) control set to minimum and TREBLE and BASS controls (1, 2) set to the vertical (12 o'clock) position, connect the attached mains lead (7) to a suitable mains outlet. Connect the source signal into the active unit via the L+R RCA connectors (4). Switch the power on (6) and gradually turn the rotary VOLUME control clockwise and increase volume level to the required amount.

Adjust TREBLE (2) and BASS (1) controls to provide the desired tonal response. The centre position is unaffected, to the left is cut and to the right is boost.

Turn down the rotary VOLUME control before switching off.
