Frequently Asked Questions - RKG600005X ELECTROLUX

How do I ignite the hob burners?
Turn the knob counterclockwise to maximum gas flow and push it down. Keep it pushed for up to 10 seconds to warm the thermocouple. If no flame after 15 seconds, release, turn off, wait 1 minute, and try again. In case of power failure, use a flame to light the burner.
What should I do if the oven does not heat up?
Ensure the oven is switched on and the gas supply is open. Check that the oven burner is ignited properly. If the flame goes out immediately, the thermocouple may need warming – keep the knob pushed for up to 15 seconds after lighting. If persistent, consult a qualified technician.
How do I clean the hob and oven?
For the hob, use a moist cloth with mild detergent and dry thoroughly. Clean burner caps and crowns with warm soapy water. For the oven, use a soft cloth and mild cleaner; avoid abrasive products. Remove shelf supports and drawer for thorough cleaning. Do not clean glass panels in the dishwasher.
Can I convert the cooker from natural gas to LPG?
Yes, the cooker is adjustable. Replace the injectors with the correct LPG injectors (provided in the kit) and adjust the minimum gas level via the bypass screw. Refer to the installation chapter for detailed instructions. It is recommended to have a qualified person perform the conversion.
Why does the flame go out after ignition?
This usually happens if the thermocouple is not sufficiently heated. After lighting, keep the knob pushed for up to 10 seconds (hob) or 15 seconds (oven). Also ensure burner caps and crowns are correctly placed and clean. If the problem persists, check the gas supply and contact service.
What are the recommended cookware sizes for the burners?
Auxiliary burner: 120-180 mm diameter; Semi-rapid: 140-220/240 mm; Multi Crown: 160-240/260 mm. Use stable cookware with flat bases and always centre the pan on the burner for efficiency and safety.
How do I use the grill function?
Turn the oven functions knob to the grill position (☐). Preheat for 10 minutes. Place food on the wire shelf in the deep pan. Adjust the shelf position for desired browning. Always cook with the oven door closed. Use top runner for toast. Turn food over halfway if needed.
What does the safety thermostat do?
The safety thermostat automatically interrupts the gas supply if the oven overheats due to incorrect operation or a fault. Once the temperature drops, the oven resumes normal operation. This prevents dangerous overheating.
How can I save energy while using the cooker?
Use lids on cookware, match pan size to burner, turn down flame after boiling, and use residual heat in the oven (switch off 3-10 minutes before end). Avoid preheating when possible and minimize door opening. Use metal cookware for better heat transfer.
How do I replace the oven lamp?
Ensure the oven is off and cool. Disconnect power. Turn the lamp glass cover counterclockwise to remove it. Replace with a 300°C heat-resistant lamp of the same type (G9, 25-40W). Reinstall the glass cover. If unsure, contact an Authorised Service Centre.

ELECTROLUX RKG600005X - OVEN - HINTS AND TIPS - 1

WARNING!

Refer to Safety chapters.

ELECTROLUX RKG600005X - WARNING! - 1

The temperature and baking times in the tables are guidelines only. They depend on the recipes and the quality and quantity of the ingredients used.

12.1 General information

The appliance has four shelf positions. Count the shelf positions from the bottom of the appliance floor.

Moisture can condense in the appliance or on the door glass panels. This is normal. Always stand back from the appliance when you open the appliance door while cooking. To decrease the condensation, operate the appliance for 10 minutes before cooking.

Clean the moisture after each use of the appliance.

Do not put the objects directly on the appliance floor and do not put aluminium foil on the components when you cook. This can change the baking results and cause damage to the enamel.

12.2 Baking

For the first baking, use the lower temperature.

You can extend the baking time by 10 – 15 minutes if you bake cakes on more than one shelf position.

Trays in the oven can distort during baking. When the trays are cold again, the distortions disappear.

For better results use the grill function for 2 - 5 minutes at the end of cooking. Check the grilling time in the cooking tables.

12.3 Baking cakes

Do not open the oven door before 3/4 of the set cooking time is up.

12.6 Cooking tables

12.4 Cooking meat and fish

Use a deep pan for very fatty food to prevent the oven from stains that can be permanent.

Leave the meat for approximately 15 minutes before carving so that the juice does not seep out.

To prevent too much smoke in the oven during roasting, add some water into the deep pan. To prevent the smoke condensation, add water each time after it dries up.

12.5 Cooking times

Cooking times depend on the type of food, its consistency, and volume.

Initially, monitor the performance when you cook. Find the best settings (heat setting, cooking time, etc.) for your cookware, recipes and quantities when you use this appliance.
