Frequently Asked Questions - BP-718 Watson

How do I charge the Watson BP-718 battery?
Charge the battery before first use. Follow the instructions in your camcorder or digital camera manual for charging. Typically, the battery is inserted into the device and charged via the device's AC adapter or charger.
What is the recommended way to store the battery?
Remove the battery from the device when not in use. For long-term storage, keep it at approximately 40% charge in a cool, dry place. The ideal storage temperature is 59°F (15°C). Avoid full charge or complete discharge during storage.
Can I use the battery in extreme temperatures?
No. Operating temperature range is 15°F to 105°F (-10°C to 40°C). Using the battery outside this range may activate a safety circuit and disable use. High temperatures can also cause damage.
How long does the battery last on a full charge?
Run time depends on the power demands of your device. Manufacturer-stated run times are based on non-stop recording in laboratory tests. Real-life use of zoom, autofocus, playback, etc., consumes more power and shortens run time.
Is the battery protected against short circuits?
Yes, the battery has an internal self-resetting fuse. However, you should still avoid short circuiting the terminals as it may cause severe damage. Be careful where you place the battery.
What should I do if the battery gets wet?
Do not expose the battery to rain or moisture. If it gets wet, do not use it. Dry it carefully with a soft cloth and ensure it is completely dry before recharging or using. If damage is suspected, replace the battery.
Can I open the battery case for repair?
No. Under no circumstances should you attempt to open the battery case. The battery contains hazardous materials and opening it can cause injury or damage. If the battery is defective, it should be replaced.
How can I maximize the battery's lifespan?
Fully charge before use, clean terminals with a dry cloth, avoid extreme temperatures, and store at 40% charge when not in use. Remove the battery from devices that draw power even when off. The battery may be warm during charging or use; this is normal.
What is the warranty coverage for this battery?
Watson provides a one-year limited warranty for the original purchaser against defects in materials and workmanship under normal consumer use. It covers repair or replacement at the provider's discretion. To claim, contact Watson Customer Service for an RMA number and return the product with proof of purchase.
How do I know when to replace the battery?
When the operation time has noticeably shortened even after a full charge, the battery may be nearing the end of its life and should be replaced. This is a normal aging process for lithium-ion batteries.

SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS:

- Charge the battery pack before use. Read your camcorder or digital camera manual for charging instructions.

- When not in use, remove the battery pack from its device and store in a cool, dry place.

- Do not short circuit the terminals. This battery is protected with an internal self-resetting fuse, but short circuits may still cause severe damage to the battery. Be careful where you set the battery down.

• Under no circumstance attempt to open the battery case.
- Do not expose the battery to rain or moisture.

- Keep away from fire. Do not incinerate. Battery may explode in the presence of fire.

- Do not drop battery or expose it to strong shocks.

- Do not use at temperatures below 15°F (-10°C) or above 105°F (40°C). Use of the battery at very high temperatures will activate a safety circuit, disallowing use.

- Running time depends on the power demanded. Stated manufacturer run times are developed in simple laboratory tests of non-stop recording. Real-life use of zoom, automatic focus, tape review, etc., all demand extra power and shorten run time.

TO MAXIMIZE BATTERY PERFORMANCE

• Make sure the battery is fully charged before use.
- Clean the battery and terminals with a clean, soft, dry cloth.
• The battery may be warm during use on recharging. This is normal.
- When storing the battery for an extended period, be sure that it is not completely charged, nor completely discharged.

The ideal level is a 40% charge. This is approximate; the closer the battery is to this level, the better it will hold its charge during storage. The battery should be stored in a cool, dry place. The recommended temperature for storage is 59°F (15°C). You may store a battery in a refrigerator. Do not store batteries in a freezer.

- Remove the battery from your equipment when not in use. Some electronic equipment will draw current even when the switch is off.

- When operation time has noticeably shortened, the battery may need to be replaced.
