Frequently Asked Questions - NC-ER30C PANASONIC

How to clean the pot with citric acid?
To clean, ensure the filter is attached. Add 80g of citric acid for NC-ER30C (two packages or seven level tablespoons) and fill water to the full pot mark. Mix well, then plug in and press the Select key until the Cleaning indicator lights. After cleaning (about 41 minutes), unplug, remove lid, drain water, and boil fresh water to remove residual odor.
What should I do if the hot water does not flow out smoothly?
First, check if the filter is clogged with scale. Clean it with a brush. If scale is stubborn, replace the filter. Also, after boiling, bubbles may form; open and close the lid once (watch for steam) to allow easier dispensing. Ensure the dispensing button is unlocked.
How to use the energy saving timer?
Press the Select key to choose either 6 hrs or 10 hrs. The indicator lamp lights, and the water temperature drops to about 60°C during the timer period. After the set time, the water reboils and returns to about 98°C. This reduces electricity consumption when away.
Why does the hot water have a smell?
A smell may come from chlorine in tap water. Press the Long Boil/Reboil key to extend boiling time. New units may have a resin smell that disappears after a few uses. Also, avoid placing the unit on vinyl or plush surfaces as odors may transfer.
How to keep water at about 60°C for baby milk?
Press the Select key repeatedly until 60 is selected. The indicator will flash, then light steadily when the temperature reaches about 60°C (takes 3-4 hours for full pot). Always cool boiled water or mix with cool boiled water before feeding to a baby.
What does it mean when the indicator lamps flash alternately?
Alternating flashes indicate that the empty container prevention function has activated, meaning water level is too low. Add water and press the Long Boil/Reboil key to reset. It may also occur if citric acid is not properly dissolved during cleaning.
Can I put tea leaves or milk in the pot?
No. Only boil water. Putting tea leaves, milk, alcohol, or other substances can cause spurting of hot liquid, clog the water tube, corrode the container, or damage the fluororesin coating. Use the pot exclusively for water.
How to remove the lid for cleaning or replacement?
Press the depression in the lid opening lever and lift the lid. Then, push the detachable knob while holding the lid opening lever, and pull the lid out and up in a slanting direction. Reverse steps to reattach.
Where can I purchase consumable parts like filter?
Consumable parts such as the filter and rubber seal are available from authorized Panasonic dealers. Use model number SAN-80N for citric acid. For filter replacement, see the manual (page 21).
What are the safety precautions when using the pot?
Key precautions: Do not tilt or knock over the unit – hot water may spill even when locked. Keep children away. Do not block the steam vent. Do not open lid during boiling. Always unplug when not in use. Use only on stable, heat-resistant surfaces.

To Prevent an Empty Container from Being Heated

关于防止空烧

關於防止空燒

If an empty container is heated, the overheat safety function (which prevents an empty container from being heated) will be activated. The power will be shut off automatically to prevent the problems that can occur due to overheating. This will be shown on the display.

When the container is heated with no water in it or with the water level below the low water level line, a bad smell may be caused or the fluororesin coating may become discolored.

Please observe the following.

  • Do not connect the power without pouring water into the container.
  • Do not boil water when the level is too low.
    • After water is added, do not leave the lid open.

Energy saving timer

When the unit will not be used for a short time, such as when you are sleeping or when you go out for the day, by setting this timer you can cut your electricity bill.

- Select either the "6 hrs" or "10 hrs" timer, depending on how long you will sleep or be away from your house.

Press the Select key to select the "6 hrs" or "10 hrs" timer.

When the timer is started, the indicator lamp will light, and the temperature of hot water will drop automatically (to about 60^ C).

Six or 10 hours later, the timer will be reset. After the water is brought up to boiling temperature again, it will be kept warm at about 98°C.

How to use the about 60°C keep-warm function

Please cool down the temperature of the baby milk or mix with cool boiled water before you give it to baby.

Press the Select key to select "60".

(The 60 keep-warm indicator lamp will flash.)

The temperature of hot water will drop to about 60°C.

(When the temperature reaches about 60^ C, the indicator lamp will change to steadily lit.)

Time required to reach about 60°C

About 3 - 4 hours (Full pot/Room temperature: 20°C)

Precautions when the energy saving timer is used or when the about 60°C keep-warm function is selected

  • When the power is restored after a power failure, the timer will be set to about 98°C.
  • When the temperature of hot water has dropped because water was added, the water will be brought up to boiling temperature.
  • The keep-warm temperature can be changed while the water is being boiled.
  • The energy saving timer can be set while the water is being boiled. In this case, even though the timer has been started the water will be brought to boiling temperature.
  • The minimum water temperature is about 60^ C while the energy saving timer is being used.

Helpful tips

  • Do not use the unit near an open flame. (The unit may become deformed.)
  • Do not supply water directly from the tap. (If the water overflows the pot and it enters the electrical parts built into the main unit, it may cause a malfunction.)
  • Do not leave water standing in the container. (It may cause the container to corrode or smell.)
  • Do not pour water out of the pot over the side where the operation panel is located. (Water infiltration may cause a malfunction.)

Main unit and lid

Wipe any water off the main unit and the lid using a dry dish cloth.

  • Do not submerge the main unit or the lid in water. (If water enters the main unit from the bottom or from the dispensing spout, it can also get into the electrical components in the main unit and it may cause a malfunction.)
  • Do not use detergents. (They may leave an odor.)
  • Do not use benzine or thinner to clean the pot. (They may damage the surface.)

Container

Wipe any water off the inside of the container using a damp sponge.

- Do not use polishing powder, a scrub brush or a nylon brush to clean the container. (They may damage the fluororesin finish.)

Filter

Clean the filter using a brush.

* After washing the filter, be sure to reattach it to the container.

When the container shows signs of being covered with scale

While you are using this unit, minerals dissolved in the water (like calcium) can get stuck on the container or on the filter. This is called "scale", and it is not harmful.

  • Milky-white gritty surface
  • White or glittering floating material
  • Discoloration in the finish like dark brown, gray, or green areas.

These are not discoloration or corrosion of the container itself, nor are they flakes from the fluororesin covering.

PANASONIC NC-ER30C - When the container shows signs of being covered with scale - 1

To maintain the pot's performance, clean the container once every two or three months using citric acid.

Helpful tips

  • Do not wash in a dishwasher and never put it in a heated dish dryer. (The unit may become deformed.)
  • To store the unit, dry it thoroughly and put it into a plastic bag. Seal the bag to keep insects from getting in.
