Frequently Asked Questions - SP20160GN SWAN

How do I clean the blender shaft?
Remove the blender shaft from the motor body. Wash it in warm soapy water, rinse and dry thoroughly. Do not fully submerge the shaft in water as it may affect blade bearing lubrication. For quick cleaning, hold the blender end in a cup half filled with clean water and run for a few seconds.
Can I blend hot liquids?
The manual does not specify blending hot liquids, but typical hand blenders can handle warm liquids up to about 80°C. Allow hot liquids to cool slightly before blending to avoid splashing. Never submerge the motor body.
What is the maximum operating time?
The maximum continuous operating time is 1 minute. After that, you must let the blender rest for 3 minutes to cool down before further use.
How do I change the speed?
Press and hold the low speed button, then turn the speed control dial from right to left to increase speed. For immediate maximum speed, press and hold the turbo button; the speed control dial will have no effect in turbo mode.
Is the blender dishwasher safe?
No, the blender shaft should not be placed in a dishwasher. Wash it by hand in warm soapy water and dry thoroughly.
What should I do if the blender stops working?
Ensure the unit is unplugged and check the power cord and plug for damage. If it still does not work, do not attempt to repair it yourself. Contact an authorised service facility or the Swan helpline at 01733 404703.
Can I use the blender for ice or frozen fruit?
The manual does not explicitly mention ice, but the 600W motor can handle soft ice or frozen fruit in small quantities. Avoid large hard ice cubes as they may damage the blades. Always cut ingredients into smaller pieces.
How do I attach the blender shaft?
Align the shaft with the motor body and turn it anti-clockwise to lock it in place. To remove, turn clockwise. Ensure the unit is unplugged and switch is off before attaching or removing parts.
What does the turbo button do?
The turbo button runs the blender at the highest speed continuously, overriding the speed control dial. Use it for quick blending or tougher ingredients.
Is the blender suitable for chopping nuts?
Yes, it can chop soft nuts like walnuts or almonds in small batches. For hard nuts, it may require pulsing. Be careful not to exceed the 1-minute operation time.
