OUR STORY

Our founder and president, Wes Seigler, has been designing high performance products for the past 10 years. Once a former international professional cyclist, he retired and moved to Reedville, Virginia, where he returned to his true passion of fishing.

In 2009, he began thinking about designs that would improve the fishing reel industry. By listening to our customers' ever-changing needs we began making innovative changes to our products. Our business is about giving our customers the best possible day on the water - be it with the grandkids or in a \$100,000 tournament. It's all about the experience and having a great time.

Originally we operated as Release Reels with the goal to create reels that are among the lightest, strongest, and most competitively priced in the industry and carries a lifetime warranty.

Another company in the marine industry legally challenged our Release Reels Trademark. After reviewing the pros and cons of fighting this challenge, we quickly realized we wanted to grow to be much more than just a fishing reel company and our current space was cluttered with many other similar name brands. So we took this opportunity and turned it into something that we felt truly represents not only who our founder is, but the philosophy of our company as well.

We changed our name to Truth Reels because it honestly seem to fit. Our word is our reputation. We have a lifetime

guarantee. Every part is made in the USA. We love what we do. We love to fish. 100% that's the Truth.

We want to reassure everyone that nothing has changed from ownership, to warranty, to customer service. This is simply an opportunity for our little company to raise the bar to yet another level and continue to improve.

OUR PROCESS

Each reel goes through it's own unique process from research to development, but we do follow a disciplined pattern that starts with inspiration and discovery, then leads to design, manufacturing, and finishing. After this initial process, we test (our favorite part) then we tweak, re-test, and perfect the design.

By adapting the latest technology, machine capabilities, and materials - coupled with input from the finest anglers and captains in the Mid-Atlantic and beyond, we improve not only the design process but the product and company as a whole.

And then we go fishing again.

The SG (Small Game) is a top-notch lever drag reel that has proven itself as very competent, yet surprisingly light-weight. Small-but-powerful, the SG was dubbed the "Little Big Reel" by charter boat captains. Whether you're near shore or offshore, the SG gives you the ability to catch everything from fluke and flounder to the most powerful Amberjack or Groupers. This reel should not be underestimated.

The LG (Large Game) conventional lever drag fishing reel is closely modeled after the SG. While the SG was our first-born reel, the LG has proven itself as the BIG brother in the Truth Family. For it's size (3 14 " x 3 12 ") the LG is light, weighing a little under 21 oz. This reel comes with one of the longest crank arms available to provide massive torque allowing you to bring up the fish from the bottom.

The LG (Large Game) Billfish conventional lever drag fishing reel is almost identical to the LG. With a shorter crank arm for higher cranking cadence. This LG is the best reel for pitch bait set up for battling Billfish. Slightly lighter then the original LG, but with the same size (3 14 " x 3 12 ") the LG is a little over 20 oz.

The SS (Small Star) star drag fishing reel is designed to be a true workhorse for bottom fishing or trolling. Scaled down from our original star drag reel, the SS is built with our signature bridgeless design and a mechanical spool tensioner that gives you more control. Fitted with the enormous 6:1 gear ratio and one of the most powerful carbon drag systems, this reel will stop fish in their tracks and won't weigh you down!

The SM (Star Mag) star drag fishing reel is designed for long distance casters. Featuring a free floating spool, counter balanced handle, mechanical spool tensioner, adjustable magnetic cast control knob and enormous 6:1 gear ratio this reel gives you complete control over the speed of the spool and allows you to make long, accurate casts, while still providing incredible stopping power.

To register your reel go to our website, click the 'Register' menu button or scroll to the bottom. Once you enter your e-mail address, check your inbox and verify the address you entered. After doing this, we will send you a link where you can enter your personal information to ensure your lifetime warranty.

SPOOLING TIPS

1. Apply tape (cloth or electrical) to the center of the spool approx. 1" wide 2 wraps.
2. Take mono-filament around spool and tie a Uni knot, keeping it on the taped surface areas, trim excess & pull tight to reel.
3. Load approx. 20yds if using for backing purposes, if not continue to spool capacity of line to suit your needs.
4. Attach braided line to the 20yd backing section using a Double Uni knot trim excess.
5. Beginning reeling braid onto reel. Keep as much tension as possible on the line. Continue to fill your reel for your specific performance needs.

Note - Capacity maxes decrease performance.

SETTING LEVER DRAG

1. Determine what you are fishing for and pressure needed with line chosen. (Ex. 40# braid)

2. Drag can be set to 30-40% of line breaking strength on full drag. (Ex. 40# line*0.30 or .40=12-16# of drag)

3. Reel in bag should be set close to a fishable range right out of the bag. You continue these steps until you find the number you are looking for.

4. From that point you will have micro adjustments by turning preset knob one click clockwise for more pressure and one click counter clockwise for slightly less.

5. You continue these steps until you find the number you are looking for.

Note - Only adjust preset knob in free spool position (only do this in this position).

With same setting on the preset and with full drag applied you will achieve radically different numbers.

Purple line 275yds of 20# Mono Max drag at Strike 14#, Full 18#

Green line 150yds of 20# Mono Max drag at Strike 16#, Full 23#

Yellow line 50yds of 20# Mono Max drag at Strike 22#, Full 34#

Note - Capacity based on the SG model

CLEANING YOUR REEL

1. Rinse down, soaking reels with fresh water.
2. Using a soap bucket with a sponge is a great means to clean after a days battle.
3. Rinse down soapy reels with fresh water
4. Wipe excess water off reels with cloth.
5. Spray a light lubricate (WD-40) either on reels or rag and wipe reels.

Note - Each step was sequenced that good, better best scenario.
