Frequently Asked Questions - WC-2030 Salton

How do I set the temperature on my Salton WC-2030 Wine Cellar?
Press the up-arrow (▲) or down-arrow (▼) button on the digital display to adjust the temperature in 1° increments. The set temperature will flash and then revert to the actual cabinet temperature. Use the C°/F° button to switch between Celsius and Fahrenheit.
What are the recommended temperature settings for different wine types?
Red wines: 12-18°C (54-64.5°F), White wines: 10-15°C (50-59°F), Sparkling wines: 8-9°C (47-49°F), Rosé wines: 9-11°C (49-52°F).
Can the Salton WC-2030 be built into a cabinet?
No, this appliance is designed for free-standing use only. Do not recess or build it into a cabinet. Allow proper clearance: sides 3/4" (19 mm), top 4" (100 mm), back 2" (50 mm) for airflow.
How should I clean the wine cellar?
Unplug the unit and remove shelves. Clean inside surfaces with a solution of 2 tablespoons (30 ml) baking soda per quart (litre) of warm water. Wash shelves with mild detergent. For exterior, use mild detergent and warm water. Avoid harsh chemicals, abrasives, or metal scouring pads.
What should I do if the wine cellar is not cooling?
Check that it is plugged in and the circuit breaker or fuse is not tripped. Verify the temperature setting. Ensure the door is closed completely and the gasket seals properly. Note that the thermoelectric unit's performance depends on ambient temperature; if room temperature is below the set point, it may not operate until ambient rises.
How do I move the wine cellar?
Always empty all bottles first. Keep the unit upright. Tape down loose items inside, turn the leveling screw up to the base, tape the doors shut, and protect the exterior with a blanket or similar item.
Why is the interior light not working?
Ensure the unit is plugged in and the circuit breaker is not tripped. Check that the light switch is in the 'ON' position. If the bulb has burned out, contact Salton for service.
Is the wine cellar noisy?
Some popping and crackling sounds are normal due to contraction and expansion of interior walls. If the unit is not level, it may cause vibration. Ensure it is level by adjusting the front leveling legs. The thermoelectric technology is known for low noise and vibration.
How many bottles can the Salton WC-2030 hold?
It can hold up to 8 standard bottles. However, actual count may vary depending on bottle size and shape.
What is the warranty for this wine cellar?
Salton offers a 1 year limited warranty from the date of purchase covering defects in material and workmanship. It covers normal domestic use. For warranty service, return to the original place of purchase or contact Salton customer service.

    Instruction Manual
  3. Clean the interior surface with lukewarm water using a soft cloth

INSTALLATION

  1. This appliance is designed to be free standing only, and should not be recessed or built-in.
  2. Place your appliance on a floor that is strong enough to support the appliance when it is fully loaded. To level your appliance, adjust the front leveling legs at the bottom of the appliance.
  3. To allow proper air circulation around the wine cellar, the following are the recommended clearances:

Sides: 3/4" (19 mm)

Top: 4" (100 mm)

Back: 2" (50 ml)

  1. Locate the appliance away from direct sunlight and sources of heat (stove, heater, radiator, etc.). Direct sunlight may affect the acrylic coating and heat sources may increase electrical consumption. Extreme cold ambient temperatures may also cause the appliance not to perform properly.

  2. Avoid locating the appliance in moist areas.

  3. Plug the appliance into an exclusive, properly installed-grounded wall outlet.

HOW TO USE

Setting the Temperature Control

  1. Your wine cellar has an electronic temperature control on the front of the unit. You can easily set the internal compartment temperature within a range of 8 – 18°C (46.5 – 64.5°F).
  2. When you first turn the unit on, the LCD will display the ambient room temperature. After you select your preferred cabinet temperature on the unit, the set temperature numerals will flash and then revert to the original cabinet temperature. The unit will then gradually work toward the temperature that you have set.
  3. Pressing the up-arrow temperature button on the display will increase the temperature in 1^ increments and pressing the down-arrow button will decrease the temperature in 1^ increments.
  4. By pressing the C/F button on the control panel, you can display the cabinet temperature as either Celsius or Fahrenheit.

  5. Note that the actual cabinet temperature in a thermoelectric unit is dependant on the ambient room temperature. When the ambient temperature is below the set temperature of the appliance, it will not operate until the ambient temperature increases to that above the set temperature.

  6. Thermoelectric wine cellars do not use a compressor and therefore create less noise and vibration. The minimized vibration will prevent bubbles from forming in stored wine, which helps to maintain its quality. These units offer a high level of reliability, lower maintenance, more accurate temperature control and an environmentally-friendly operation as no CFC or HCFC-type refrigerants are used in the cooling process.

RED 12 - 18°C (54 - 64.5°F)

WHITE 10 - 15°C (50 - 59°F)

SPARKLING 8 - 9°C (47 - 49°F)

ROSE 9 - 11°C (49 - 52°F)

IMPORTANT NOTES

  • The bottle racks are plated in order to maintain their appearance and for ease of cleaning.
  • The unit can store a total of 8 standard size bottles. Many bottles may differ in size and dimensions. As such, the actual number of bottles you may be able to store may vary.
  • Your wine cellar has an interior light with and on/off switch for your viewing convenience. Under normal operation, it is best for the light to remain off.

CARE AND CLEANING

  1. Unplug the appliance, and remove shelves.
  2. Wash the inside surfaces with a warm water and baking soda solution. The solution should be about 2 tablespoons (30 ml) of baking soda to a quart (litre) of water.
  3. Wash the shelves with a mild detergent solution.
  4. The outside of the appliance should be cleaned with mild detergent and warm water.
  5. Wring excess water out of the sponge or cloth before cleaning the area around the controls or any electrical parts.
  6. DO NOT use harsh chemicals, abrasives, ammonia, chlorine bleach, concentrated detergents, solvents or metal scouring pads when cleaning, as some of these items may damage the appliance.

Power Failure

Most power failures are corrected within a few hours and should not affect the temperature of your appliance if you minimize the number of times the door is opened.

• Always maintain the unit in an upright position when moving
- Securely tape down all loose items inside your appliance
- Turn the leveling screw up to the base to avoid damage
