Do not immerse the kettle or base in water or any other liquid.
If this appliance begins to malfunction during use, immediately unplug the cord. Do not use or attempt or attempt to repair the malfunctioning appliance.
PRIOR TO FIRST USE
It is recommended that you clean your new kettle thoroughly before using it for the first time. To do this, fill the kettle with fresh water and boil. Discard the water and rinse the kettle with cold water. Follow the instructions as stated below.
USING YOUR AUTOMATIC CORDLESS KETTLE
With the kettle removed, place the cordless power base on a firm and level surface in the desired location and insert the power plug into the nearby wall receptacle. Fill the kettle with the desired amount of water, making sure that the "MIN" and "MAX" fill levels are observed. For convenience, the lid may be opened for filling. The water level is viewed through the water window. Do not allow the water level to fall below minimum or rise above the maximum.
Ensure that the sediment filter is installed before turning kettle ON. The kettle is designed to function with the sediment filter installed.
With the ON-OFF switch in the "O" OFF position (push switch down for "O"), carefully place the kettle on the power base engaging the vertical connector projection into the center of the kettle. Do not tip the kettle as you place it over the connector. The kettle should fit neatly into the power base. Turn the "ON-OFF" switch to the "I" ON position (push switch up for "I") and the kettle will begin to heat. The On-Off switch will be illuminated while the kettle is switched ON.
When the water has boiled, the kettle will turn off automatically, and the switch will return to the "O" OFF position. The kettle may now be removed for use. Carry the kettle carefully and level as spillage can occur through the spout or lid. Note: If Kettle is used often, steam condensation may collect in small amounts on the kettle base.
Following use, the kettle may be returned to and stored on the power base. At any time on the power base the kettle may be switched to "I" (ON) to reheat the water.
Ensure that the lid is closed when using the kettle. If the lid is not closed when boiling, the automatic shut-off switch will not function. Open or close the lid only when the kettle is cold.
If the kettle is allowed to boil dry, or if the water level is below the "MIN" water level indicator a thermostat will automatically cycle the element off to prevent the kettle from overheating. If this situation occurs, shut off the kettle and let it cool before refilling to the proper level.
CLEANING YOUR KETTLE
Remove the kettle from the power base before cleaning.
Disconnect the power base from the wall socket before cleaning
The exterior of the kettle and power base should be cleaned by using a damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners as they can result in scratched surfaces.
Do not immerse the kettle or power base in water or any other liquid as this could cause the unit to become unsafe.
Mineral deposits usually form a coating over the interior of the kettle, which will cause the kettle to take longer to boil. Deposits that form on the plastic body of the kettle will flake off from time to time and should be rinsed out as required. Deposits that form on the element should regularly be removed with a descaler suitable for use on plastic kettles. It is recommended that the descaler be diluted before pouring into the kettle. Any descaler will affect the finish on the element. To minimise this damage, limit the descaling time to 20 minutes. If necessary rinse and repeat.
SEDIMENT FILTER
A removable washable sediment filter is provided to collect the mineral deposits that flake off from the interior of the kettle and prevent them from entering the beverage. This filter may be removed for periodic cleaning. Before removing this filter for cleaning, ensure that the kettle has been allowed to cool. Cleaning can usually be accomplished by simply rinsing under the kitchen faucet. Always return the sediment filter to correct position in kettle, to ensure proper kettle operation.
