How do I connect the Alpha 37C to my receiver?

Use standard speaker wire. Connect the receiver's center channel output to the speaker terminals, observing polarity (red to red, black to black). Ensure the receiver is set to Center Speaker mode.

What is the ideal placement for a center channel speaker?

Place the Alpha 37C directly above or below your TV, centered horizontally. It should be at ear level when seated for optimal dialog clarity. Avoid enclosures that block the front or rear ports.

Can I use this speaker as a bookshelf speaker?

Yes, the Alpha 37C can be used as a bookshelf speaker, but it is optimized for center channel use. As a bookshelf, it may lack low-end compared to dedicated bookshelf models. Ensure proper placement and avoid placing it in a closed cabinet.

How do I clean the speaker?

Gently dust the cabinet and grille with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use any liquids, abrasives, or compressed air, as they may damage the drivers or finish. For the grille, use a lint roller if needed.

What are the power requirements?

The speaker is passive and receives power from your amplifier or receiver. It handles up to 100 watts RMS and requires an amplifier rated between 10 and 150 watts per channel at 8 ohms.

Why is there no sound coming from the speaker?

Check that the speaker wire is properly connected to both the speaker and receiver terminals. Verify the receiver is set to a surround mode that includes the center channel. Also test the speaker on another channel to rule out a driver issue.

Does the speaker come with a grille?

Yes, the Alpha 37C includes a detachable black cloth grille. It attaches magnetically for easy removal and reattachment.

Can I bi-wire this speaker?

No, the Alpha 37C has a single pair of binding posts. It is not designed for bi-wiring or bi-amping. Use a single speaker wire connection.

How do I position the speaker for optimal sound?

Our patented Ceramic Metal Matrix Diaphragm™ (C.M.M.D.) drivers, precision dividing networks and rigid, heavily braced enclosures combine to deliver uncompromised performance in any stereo or multichannel home theater system. The Alpha 37c is the perfect center channel loudspeaker to complete any home theater system.

UNPACKING THE SPEAKER

If you suspect damage from transit, report it immediately to your dealer. Keep the shipping carton and packing materials for future use.

For best results, the Alpha 37c should be placed on top of, or directly below, the television and aimed toward the listening area (see Figure 1).

The terminal cup has an adjustable foot to angle the speaker toward the listening position (see Figure 2).

An Important Note for Proper Installation

The Infinity Alpha 37c is magnetically shielded. When placing it directly on top of a television, please follow the simple installation guidelines below to prevent any interference with your television picture.

1. Turn off the TV that the speaker will be placed on top of.
2. While keeping the front of the speaker facing forward, lift and place the Alpha 37c on top of the TV.
3. Connect the speaker as described in this owner's guide.
4. You may now turn on the TV.

WIRING THE SYSTEM

IMPORTANT: Make sure all equipment is turned off before making any connections.

For speaker connections, use a minimum #16-gauge speaker wire with polarity coding. The side of the wire with a ridge or other coding is usually considered positive polarity (i.e., +).

NOTE: If desired, consult your local Infinity dealer about speaker wire and connection options.

The Alpha 37c features color-coded terminals. This example shows the most common way of connecting speaker wire by directly inserting into terminals.

To ensure proper polarity, connect each + terminal on the back of the amplifier, receiver or television to the respective+ (red) terminal on each speaker, as shown in Figure 3. Similarly, connect the - (black) terminals in the same way. Also, see the owner's guides that were included with your amplifier or receiver to confirm connection procedures.

IMPORTANT: DO NOT reverse polarities (i.e., + to - or - to +) when making connections. Doing so will cause poor imaging and diminished bass response.

FINAL ADJUSTMENTS

Check the speakers for playback first by setting the system volume control to a minimum level, and then by applying power to your audio system. Following the directions provided with your receiver/processor, adjust the center channel volume so that it matches the output of the left and right speakers.

CARE OF YOUR SPEAKER

The Alpha 37c's enclosure has a wood-vinyl finish that does not require any routine maintenance. When needed, use a soft cloth, dampened with water only, to remove any fingerprints or dust.

Clean the grille by gentle vacuuming.

NOTE: Do not use any cleaning products or polishes on the enclosure or grille.
