Frequently Asked Questions - FRC0413 Fortress

How do I cook rice with this Fortress Rice Cooker?
Measure rice using the included cup, rinse if desired, add water to the corresponding level inside the pot, select the cook switch, and wait for automatic shut-off.
Can I use the rice cooker for other grains like quinoa or oatmeal?
Yes, this rice cooker can be used to cook other grains and even oatmeal. Adjust water ratios accordingly and monitor to avoid overflow.
How do I clean the inner pot?
Unplug the cooker and let it cool. Wash the inner pot with warm soapy water and a soft sponge. Do not use abrasive cleaners that may damage the non-stick coating.
Why does my rice cooker turn off before the rice is fully cooked?
This can happen if there is insufficient water. Ensure you add the correct water level. If the cooker shuts off early, you can add a bit of water and restart the cycle.
Can I leave the rice cooker on 'keep warm' overnight?
It is not recommended to leave the cooker on 'keep warm' for more than 12 hours. The rice may dry out or spoil. For food safety, consume within a few hours.
What should I do if the rice cooker does not turn on?
Check that the power cord is securely plugged in and the outlet is working. If it still does not turn on, the internal fuse or thermostat may need professional repair.
Is the inner pot dishwasher safe?
No, the non-stick inner pot should be hand washed only. The dishwasher's high heat and detergents can damage the coating.
How much rice can I cook at once?
The maximum capacity is about 5 cups of uncooked rice, which yields about 10 cups of cooked rice. Do not exceed the 'MAX' line in the pot.
Can I use the rice cooker to steam vegetables?
Yes, you can steam vegetables using a steaming basket or tray. Add water to the pot, place the basket with vegetables, and close the lid until done.
Where can I find replacement parts for my Fortress FRC0413?
Replacement parts such as the inner pot, measuring cup, and spatula can be ordered through the Fortress website or authorized retailers. Check the manual for part numbers.
