Frequently Asked Questions - ZBX0HW68220 TURTLE BEACH

How do I set up the PLa headset with my PS3 via HDMI?
Connect the PS3 to your TV via HDMI as usual. The HDMI cable does not affect the headset audio. Then go to PS3 Settings > Sound Settings > Audio Multi-Output to enable simultaneous audio from both HDMI and the PS3 AV cable. The PLa uses the standard AV cable for game sound.
Can I use the headset on PC or Mac?
Yes, the PLa is USB powered and acts as a USB stereo headset. Simply plug the USB connector into a free port on your PC or Mac, and it will appear as 'Turtle Beach PLa Headset'. The chat volume wheel controls all audio; keep game volume at minimum to avoid noise.
What does the Microphone Monitor feature do?
Microphone Monitor lets you hear your own voice through the headset while chatting. This prevents shouting by allowing you to gauge your speaking volume.
How do I adjust game and chat volume independently?
Use the two volume wheels on the headset: Chat Volume Wheel adjusts chat level, Game Volume Wheel adjusts game sound. This allows personalized balancing of audio.
How should I clean and maintain the headset?
Use a dry or slightly damp cloth only. Avoid cleaning solutions. Store in a dry place, away from heat. Disconnect all cables before transporting. Use the attached Velcro to manage cables and prevent tangles. Keep away from pets.
What is the warranty coverage for this Turtle Beach product?
Voyetra Turtle Beach provides a 1-year limited hardware warranty from the date of purchase. It covers defects in materials and workmanship. You must contact support to obtain an RMA number for returns. The warranty does not cover damage from abuse, modifications, or commercial use.
How can I prevent hearing damage when using the headset?
Always start with volume at its lowest setting and gradually increase to a comfortable level. Avoid prolonged use at high volumes. If you experience ringing in your ears, the volume is too loud. Turn down the volume if you cannot hear people nearby.
What is included in the box?
The box contains the PLa Headset, a Turtle Beach sticker, and a User Guide.
How do I set up the headset for PS3 chat?
Go to Settings > Accessory Settings > Audio Device Settings. Select 'Turtle Beach PLa Headset' as both Input Device and Output Device. Then adjust Microphone Level so the bar graph barely reaches red when speaking loudly.
Where can I find product support and warranty information?
Visit TurtleBeach.com/support for product support, warranty details, and to obtain an RMA number if needed. Training videos are available at youtube.com/TurtleBeachVideos.

Avoid Heat: Avoid resting or storing the headset or cables in or on top of units that generate heat. Gaming consoles are known to generate and dissipate unusually high levels of heat, and the heat can degrade the plastic resulting in twisting and eventual exposure of the internal wiring.

Storage: To help prevent damage to your Turtle Beach Headset, store it in a dry location where there is no risk of heavy items falling on your headset. Do not leave your headset or any accessories in a location where people or pets might accidentally trip over it.

Cleaning: Only use a dry cloth or slightly damp cloth. Cleaning solutions may damage your headset.

Transporting: Always disconnect all cables when transporting your headset.

Wire Management: Use the Velcro attached to your headset cable to avoid tangles when not in use.

Pets: Pets love to chew cords. To prevent this, keep your headset out of the reach of your pets.

Safety Notice

To avoid potential damage to the device, always disconnect all cables before transporting it.

WARNING: Permanent hearing damage can occur if a headset is used at high volumes for extended periods of time, so it is important to keep the volume at a safe level. Over time, your ears adapt to loud volume levels, so a level that may not cause initial discomfort can still damage your hearing. If you experience ringing in your ears after listening with the headset, it means the volume is set too loud. The louder the volume is set, the less time it takes to affect your hearing. So, please take care to listen at moderate levels.

  • Before placing a headset on your ears, turn the volume down completely, then slowly increase it to a comfortable level.
  • Turn down the volume if you can't hear people speaking near you.
  • Avoid turning up the volume to block out noisy surroundings.
