USER MANUAL 3741 Taylor

Add & Weigh Kitchen Scale

Thank you for purchasing a Taylor® Kitchen Scale. Your Taylor® scale is an example of superior design and craftsmanship. Please read this instruction manual carefully before use. Keep these instructions handy for future reference.

Before Weighing

The circular dial has two separate sections, one half is printed with pounds/ounces the other kilograms/grams.

  1. Place the container on the weighing platform and adjust either the pounds or kilograms scale to zero by simply revolving the dial until the "0" mark is directly in line with the pointer.
  2. Tap the weighing container a few times with your fingertips to "settle" the mechanism. Re-adjust to zero if necessary.

Note: Any lightweight container may be used, provided that it is placed on the weighing platform before the dial is set to zero. Equally, large or awkward items such as meat or a food parcel can be placed directly onto the platform.

To Add and Weigh

Put the first item into the container and read the weight. Rotate the dial until the zero mark is once again in line with the pointer. Add your next ingredient. The weight shown will be that of the last ingredient only. Re-zero the dial, and add the next item and so on.

Note: The weighing container may be removed for mixing purposes at any point during the add and weigh program, but if water, eggs or any other item is added, the dial should be re-set to zero when the bowl is replaced on the scale.

Cleaning and Care

  1. The weighing container supplied with this scale must not be placed in either a dishwasher or microwave oven.
  2. To prevent damage DO NOT:

a. Stand scale or bowl near an oven or other direct source of heat
b. Immerse scale in water
c. Clean with abrasive or chemical agents
d. Allow to come into contact with strongly flavored/colored foods or acids such as citrus fruit, which can cause damage to the plastic surfaces

Note: Where such items are used, it is recommended that the bowl or weighing surface first be lined with greaseproof paper or cling-film and washed/wiped clean immediately afterwards.

  1. The outer casing of the scale may be wiped clean with a damp cloth and the weighing container can be washed by hand in hot soapy water.
  2. The mechanism does NOT require maintenance of any kind.

Precautions

  1. Clean exposed parts with a soft, slightly damp cloth. To remove stains, use a mild soap. Never use detergents, excess water, treated cloths, harsh cleaning agents, or sprays. Avoid contact with acids, such as citrus juices.
  2. Do not tamper with the scale's internal components. Doing so will invalidate the warranty on this unit and may cause damage. The scale contains no user-serviceable parts.
  3. Avoid rough treatment. Treat it with care to ensure the best performance.
  4. This scale is intended for home/consumer use only. It is not intended for commercial or medical use.
  5. This scale is designed to read weights up to 5 lb x 1.0 oz / 2.2 kg x 25 g. To prevent damage, do not place more than 5 lb / 2.2 kg on it.
