What to do if the computer does not turn on?

Check the LED on the power button. If it is off, make sure the power cable is plugged in and the outlet is powered. If it is on, system files may be corrupted; insert the startup disk and restart.

Nothing appears on the screen, what to do?

The power management may have turned off the screen. Press a key. If that does not work, restart the computer. Contact support if the problem persists.

The printer does not work, how to resolve?

Check that the printer is plugged in, powered on, and properly connected to the computer. Refer to the printer documentation for more information.

No sound comes out of the computer, why?

Sound may be disabled. Check the volume icon in the taskbar and turn off mute mode. If headphones or external speakers are plugged in, internal speakers are muted.

The system does not read the hard drive or optical drive, what to check?

Ensure you are using the correct type of disc, that it is inserted properly, is clean and not scratched. Test with another disc. If the problem persists, the drive may be defective.

Cannot write to the hard drive or disc, how to resolve?

Check that the disc is not write-protected and that you are using the appropriate type of disc.

How to open the computer case?

Turn off the computer and disconnect all cables. Remove the side panel following the instructions in the manual. Observe electrostatic discharge precautions.

How to install a memory module?

Open the case, locate an empty DIMM slot. Open the clips, align the notch of the module with the slot, insert firmly, and close the clips. The system will automatically detect the memory.

How to replace the hard drive?

Open the drive bay door. Press the hard drive bracket latch, pull the lever, and slide the bracket out. Replace the drive by aligning the pins, then reinsert the bracket.

Network connection problems, what to do?

Connect the network cable to the Ethernet port on the back and to your modem/router. Consult your network administrator or the operating system manual for configuration.
