How do I turn on the Acer PF-L1200UT projector?

Ensure the power cord and signal cables are securely connected. Press the Power button on the control panel or remote control. The power indicator will turn blue. Then turn on your source device.

How do I turn off the projector safely?

Press the Power button once. A message will appear: 'Please press power button again to complete the shutdown process'. Press again to confirm. Wait for the cooling cycle to finish before disconnecting power.

How can I clean the projector?

Turn off and unplug the projector. Use a soft cloth slightly dampened with mild detergent to clean the housing. Do not use liquid or aerosol cleaners, or abrasive materials. Clean the air filter regularly to prevent overheating.

What should I do if there is no image on the screen?

Check all cable connections. Ensure the projector is powered on and the selected input source is correct. Press RESYNC on the control panel or remote. If using a computer, verify the resolution is set to 1920 x 1200 or lower.

How do I adjust the projected image size and focus?

Use the motorized Zoom and Focus controls on the remote or control panel. For lens shift, press LENS SHIFT and use the directional keys to move the image horizontally or vertically.

Can I use 3D content with this projector?

Yes, it supports 3D via DLP Link (Blu-Ray 3D) and VESA 3D. Connect compatible 3D glasses. In the OSD menu, go to Options > 3D to select the appropriate 3D sync mode (DLP Link or External).

How do I reset the projector to factory settings?

Press MENU to open the OSD. Navigate to Default Adjustment and then Reset. Press ENTER and select 'Yes' to confirm. This restores all display parameters to factory defaults.

What is the expected lifespan of the laser light source?

The laser light source is designed for long life. Using ECO mode extends the life. The exact lifespan is not specified in the manual, but typical laser projectors last around 20,000 hours or more.

How do I connect multiple sources via HDBaseT?

Install the optional HDBaseT module in the projector. Use a shielded CAT5e or better cable (up to 100 m) to connect the projector to an HDBaseT switching matrix. Then connect your source devices to the matrix. Refer to the matrix manual for setup.

What should I do if the projector displays 'Fan Fail' or 'Overheated'?

These messages indicate a cooling problem. Turn off the projector and let it cool. Check that the air filter is clean and that ventilation slots are not blocked. If the problem persists, contact Acer service center.

Turning the product off before cleaning

Unplug this product from the wall outlet before cleaning. Do not use liquid cleaners or aerosol cleaners. Use a damp cloth for cleaning.

Caution for plug as disconnecting device

Observe the following guidelines when connecting and disconnecting power to the external power supply unit:

• Install the power supply unit before connecting the power cord to the AC power outlet.
- Unplug the power cord before removing the power supply unit from the projector.
- If the system has multiple sources of power, disconnect power from the system by unplugging all power cords from the power supplies.

Caution for Accessibility

Be sure that the power outlet you plug the power cord into is easily accessible and located as close to the equipment operator as possible. When you need to disconnect power to the equipment, be sure to unplug the power cord from the electrical outlet.

Warnings!

• Do not use this product near water.
• Do not place this product on an unstable cart, stand or table. If the product falls, it could be seriously damaged.
• Slots and openings are provided for ventilation to ensure reliable operation of the product and to protect it from overheating. These openings must not be blocked or covered. The openings should never be blocked by placing the product on a bed, sofa, rug or other similar surface.

This product should never be placed near or over a radiator or heat register, or in a built-in installation unless proper ventilation is provided.

- Never push objects of any kind into this product through cabinet slots as they may touch dangerous voltage points or short-out parts that could result in a fire or electric shock. Never spill liquid of any kind onto or into the product.

• To avoid damage of internal components and to prevent battery leakage, do not place the product on a vibrating surface.
• Never use it under sporting, exercising, or any vibrating environment which will probably cause unexpected short current or damage rotor devices.

Using electrical power

• This product should be operated from the type of power indicated on the marking label. If you are not sure of the type of power available, consult your dealer or local power company.
• Do not allow anything to rest on the power cord. Do not locate this product where people will walk on the cord.

- If an extension cord is used with this product, make sure that the total ampere rating of the equipment plugged into the extension cord does not exceed the extension cord ampere rating. Also, make sure that the total rating of all products plugged into the wall outlet does not exceed the fuse rating.

- Do not overload a power outlet, strip or receptacle by plugging in too many devices. The overall system load must not exceed 80% of the branch circuit rating. If power strips are used, the load should not exceed 80% of the power strip's input rating.

- This product's AC adapter is equipped with a three-wire grounded plug. The plug only fits in a grounded power outlet. Make sure the power outlet is properly grounded before inserting the AC adapter plug. Do not insert the plug into a non-grounded power outlet. Contact your electrician for details.

Warning! The grounding pin is a safety feature. Using a power outlet that is not properly grounded may result in electric shock and/or injury.

Note: The grounding pin also provides good protection from unexpected noise produced by other nearby electrical devices that may interfere with the performance of this product.

- Use the product only with the supplied power supply cord set. If you need to replace the power cord set, make sure that the new power cord is equivalent to the original supplied power cord. Please contact your local dealer or Acer service center for details.

Product servicing

Do not attempt to service this product yourself, as opening or removing covers may expose you to dangerous voltage points or other risks. Refer all servicing to qualified service personnel.

Unplug this product from the wall outlet and refer servicing to qualified service personnel when:

•the power cord or plug is damaged, cut or frayed
- liquid was spilled into the product
•the product was exposed to rain or water
•the product has been dropped or the case has been damaged
•the product exhibits a distinct change in performance, indicating a need for service
•the product does not operate normally after following the operating instructions

Note: Adjust only those controls that are covered by the operating instructions, since improper adjustment of other controls may result in damage and will often require extensive work by a qualified technician to restore the product to normal condition.

Additional safety information

• Do not look into the lens while the light source is on. The strong light from the light source may cause damage to your eyesight.

• Do not place anything in front of the lens while the projector is operating. Things placed in front of the lens may overheat and burn or start a fire. If you want to temporarily stop the projected image, use the Blank key on the remote control.
• Do not remove any screws. Do not block or cover the vents.

• Do not look into the light source using optical instruments (such as magnifying glasses and mirrors). Visual impairment could result.
• When turning on the projector, make sure no one within projection range is

looking at the lens.

- Keep any items (magnifying glass etc.) out of the light path of the projector. The light path being projected from the lens is extensive, therefore any kind of abnormal objects that can redirect light coming out of the lens, can cause an unpredictable outcome such as a fire or injury to the eyes.

- Laser aperture warning: (For other countries).

• CLASS 1 LASER PRODUCT - RISK GROUP 2
- Do not stare into the beam, maybe harmful to the eyes.

- Risk group 3: (Except USA and Canada) This projector may become RG3 when an interchangeable lens with throw ratio greater than the number stated on the label.

- As with any bright light source, do not stare into the beam. RG2 IEC 62471-5:2015

- No direct exposure to the beam shall be permitted. RG3 IEC 62471-5:2015

- Operators shall control access to the beam within the hazard distance or install the product at the height that will prevent spectators' eyes from being in the hazard distance.

- Cinema projectors that have a hazard distance greater than 1 m and emit light into an uncontrolled area where persons may be present should be positioned in accordance with "the fixed projector installation" parameters, resulting in a hazard distance that does not extend into the audience area unless the beam is at least 2 m above the floor level.

- In non-cinema, environments where unrestrained behaviour is reasonably foreseeable, the minimum separation height should be greater than or equal to 3.0m to prevent potential exposure, for example by an individual sitting on another individual's shoulders, within the hazard distance. For example, a sufficiently large separation height may be achieved by mounting the projector on the ceiling or through the use of physical barriers.

- Turn on the projector first and then signal sources.

- Do not place the product in the following environments:

• Space that is poorly ventilated or confined. At least 50cm clearance from walls and free flow of air around the projector are necessary.
• Locations where temperatures may become excessively high, such as inside of a car with all windows rolled up.
• Locations where excessive humidity, dust, or cigarette smoke may contaminate optical components, shorten the life span and darken the image.
• Locations near fire alarms.
• Locations with an ambient temperature above 40^ircC / 104^ircF .
• Locations where the altitudes are higher than 10000 feet.

- Unplug immediately if there is something wrong with your projector. Do not operate if smoke, strange noise or odor comes out of your projector. It might cause fire or electric shock. In this case, unplug immediately and contact your dealer.

- Do not keep using this product to break or drop it. In this case contact your dealer for inspection.

• Do not face the projector lens to the sun. It can lead to fire.
• When switching the projector off, please ensure the projector completes its cooling cycle before disconnecting power.
• Do not frequently turn off the main power abruptly or unplug the projector during operation. The best way is to wait for the fan to stop before turning main power off.

- Do not touch the air outlet grille and bottom plate which become hot.

- Clean the air filter frequently. The temperature inside may rise and cause damage when the filter/ventilation slots are clogged with dirt or dust.

- Do not look into the air outlet grille when projector is operating. It may hurt your eyes.

- Always open the lens shutter or remove the lens cap when the projector is on.

- Do not block the projector lens with any object when the projector is under operation as this could cause the object to become heated and deformed or even cause a fire. To temporarily turn off the light, press Blank on the remote control.

- Do not attempt to disassemble this projector. There are dangerous high voltages inside which may hurt you.

- Do not stand the projector on end vertically. It may cause the projector to fall over, causing injury or damage.

- This product is capable of displaying inverted images for ceiling mount installation. Only use acer ceiling mount kit for mounting the projector and ensure it is securely installed.

• Increase the volume gradually until you can hear clearly and comfortably.
• Do not increase the volume level after your ears have adjusted.
• Do not listen to music at high volumes for extended periods.

Getting Started

Installing the Projection Lens

1 Remove the dust cap and upper lens cover.
2 Align the slot on the projection lens with the one on the projector to insert the projection lens. (Illustration #1)
3 Turn the lever counterclockwise until you feel it click into place to lock the lens in position. (Illustration #2)
4 Install the upper lens cover back. ( Illustration #3)

Note: Some smart devices require a converter (supplied by the smart device maker) to enable the MHL function.

Connecting Multiple Sources through HDBaseT Module (Optional)

HDBaseT is a connectivity standard for whole-house and commercial distribution of uncompressed HD multimedia content. After installing the HDBaseT module (optional) to the projector and using the HDBaseT switching matrix (commercially available), you may connect multiple sources to your projector with HDBaseT connection.

Note: Use a shielded LAN cable up to 100 meters in length rated at CAT5e or better.

Note: The maximum transmission distance is 100 m. However, it may be shorter under some circumstances.

Note: Avoid using the LAN cable when it is coiled or bundled.

Note: Inserting or removing the LAN cable during projection may cause noise.

Note: Connectivity with all HDBaseT transmitters on the market is not guaranteed.

Note: Some HDBaseT transmitters may not enable correct projection when used to connect source equipment to the projector.

Note: Commands cannot be received through HDBaseT when the projector is in standby mode.

Turning the Projector On/Off

Turning On the Projector

1 Ensure that the power cord and signal cable are securely connected. The Power LED will light red.
2 Turn on the projector by pressing (POWER) on the control panel or ☐ on the remote control, and the Power indicator LED will turn blue.
3 Turn on your source (computer, notebook, video player, etc.). Select your source. (The projector will detect your source automatically if Auto Source is "On").

• If the screen displays "No Signal", please make sure the signal cables are securely connected.
• If you connect to multiple sources at the same time, use "SOURCE" on the control panel or remote control, or the direct source key on the remote control to switch between inputs.

Turning Off the Projector

1 To turn the projector off, press the power button. This message appears:
"Please press power button again to complete the shutdown process" Press the power button again.
2 The LED Power indicator will turn solid red to indicate standby mode.
3 It is now safe to unplug the power cord.

Adjusting the Projected Image

Adjusting the Height of the Projected Image

The projector is equipped with two elevator feet for adjusting the image height.

To raise the image:

1 Use the front Tilt adjusting wheels to raise the image to the desired height and angle.
2 Use the rear Tilt adjusting wheels to fine-tune the display angle.

To lower the image:

1 Use the front Tilt adjusting wheels to lower the image to the desired height angle.
2 Use the rear Tilt adjusting wheels to fine-tune the display angle.

How to Get a Preferred Image Position by Adjusting Lens Shift

The projector is equipped with lens shift for adjusting the position of projected image without requiring you to physically move the projector. To shift the lens, use the control panel or remote control, or select "Display settings" > "Lens" on the OSD and adjust the lens.

Note: The figures shown in this section are for reference only not approximate value. The figures between units can be different due to assembly tolerance.

The horizontal width can be adjusted between -10% and 10% of the image width. The vertical height can be adjusted between 0% and 50% – 60% (depending on the projection lens installed) of the image height.

User Controls

Onscreen Display (OSD) Menus

The projector has multilingual Onscreen Display (OSD) menus that allow you to make image adjustments and change a variety of settings.

Using the OSD menus

• To open the OSD menu, press "MENU" on the control panel or remote control.
• When the OSD is displayed, use to select an item in the main menu.

After selecting the desired main menu item, press to enter a submenu for feature setting.

• Use ▲ ▼ to select the desired item and adjust the settings by using

• Select the next item to be adjusted in the submenu and adjust as described above.
• Press "MENU" on the control panel or remote control, the screen will return to the main menu.
• To exit the OSD menu, press "MENU" on the control panel or remote control again. It will close and the projector will automatically save the new settings.

Note: Some of the following OSD settings may not be available. Please refer to the actual OSD of your projector.

Image Adjustment

Display Mode	There are many factory presets optimized for various types of images.·Bright: For brightness optimization.·Standard: For common environment.·Video: For playing video in a bright environment.·sRGB: For sRGB standard.·DICOM SIM: For DICOM format files in simulation mode, and not for actual diagnosis.·User: Memorize user's settings.
Brightness	Adjusts the brightness of the image.·Press to darken the image.·Press to lighten the image.
Contrast	Controls the degree of difference between the lightest and darkest parts of the picture. Adjusting the contrast changes the amount of black and white in the image.·Press to decrease the contrast.·Press to increase the contrast.
Saturation	Adjusts a video image from black and white to fully saturated colors.·Press to decrease the amount of color in the image.·Press to increase the amount of color in the image.
Tint	Adjusts the color balance of red and green.·Press to increase the amount of green in the image.·Press to increase the amount of red in the image.
Sharpness	Adjusts the sharpness of the image.·Press to decrease the sharpness.·Press to increase the sharpness.
Gamma	Effects the representation of dark scenery. With greater gamma value, dark scenery will look brighter.
Color Temperature	Adjusts the color temperature. At higher color temperatures, the screen looks colder; at lower color temperatures, the screen looks warmer.
HSG	HSGUse this function to enhance color and reproduce vivid colors.HSG settings•Color: Use key to select a color that you wish to enhance.•When selecting Red/Green/Blue/Cyan/Magenta/Yellow, the following options are available.-Hue: Use Key to change the hue of the selected color.-Saturation: Use Key to change the saturation of the selected color.-Gain: Use Key to change the contrast level of the selected color.•When selecting White, the following options are available.-Red/Green/Blue: Use Key to change the level of each color.-Reset: Use this function to return the adjustments and settings made above to the factory default values.
Wall Color Mode	Use this function to choose a proper color according to the wall. There are several choices, including White, Light Yellow, Light Blue, Pink and Dark Green. It will compensate for the color deviation due to the wall color to show the correct image tone.

Note: "Saturation" and "Tint" functions are not supported under computer mode.

Display settings

Aspect Ratio	Use this function to choose your desired aspect ratio.•Auto: Keeps the image with original width-height ratio and maximizes the image to fit native horizontal or vertical pixels.•4:3/16:9/16:10/1.88:1/2.35:1: The image will be scaled to fit the screen and displayed using a 4:3/16:9/16:10/1.88:1/2.35:1 ratio.
Phase	Eliminates flicker from the image displayed. Usekey to adjust the value.
Frequency	Changes the projector's refresh rate to match the frequency of your computer's graphics card. If you experience a vertical flickering bar in the projected image, use this function to correct it.
H. Position	•Press to move the image left.•Press to move the image right.
V. Position	•Press to move the image down.•Press to move the image up.

Advanced	Screen CaptureUse this function to customize the startup screen. To capture the image that you want to use as the startup screen, follow the instructions below.Before proceeding with the following steps, make sure that the "Keystone" is set to the default value "0".1 Project the image you want you capture.2 Select "Screen Capture" and press "ENTER".3 A dialog box appears to confirm the action. Choose "Yes" to use the current image as your customized startup screen. Choose "No" to cancel the screen capture and exist the Onscreen Display (OSD).4 A message appears stating that the screen capture is in progress.5 When the screen capture is finished, the message disappears and the original display is shown.6 If the screen capture failed, a "Screen Capture FAILED!" message will pop up. Your image size may exceed the maximum capturing capacity of 8 MB. Please change another image and try again.7 To use this image as the startup screen, change the "Start-up Screen" from the default setting to "User".8 To use this image as signal searching screen, select "User" in "Start-up Screen" and "User" in "Background on No Signal".Test PatternDisplays the test pattern.Closed CaptionSelects a preferred closed captioning mode from CC1, CC2, CC3, CC4 (CC1 displays captions in the primary language in your area). Menu Display Time	Sets the length of time the On Screen Display will remain active after your last key press.
Menu Position Sets	the On Screen Display menu position.
Projector Installation	Frontable: The factory default setting.Fronteiling: When you select this function, the projector inverts the image for ceiling-mounted projection.ReaTable: When you select this function, the projector reverses the image so that you can project behind a translucent screen.ReaCeiling: When you select this function, the projector reverses and inverts the image at same time. You can project from behind a translucent screen with ceiling mounted projection.
Auto Source	When this function is turned "On", the projector will search for other signals if the current input signal is lost. When this function is turned "Off", it will only search a specified connection port.
Input Source	Use this option to enable/disable input sources. Press "ENTER" to enter the sub menu and select which sources you require. Press "ENTER" to finalize the selection. The projector will only search for inputs that are enabled.
Power Settings	AC Power OnSelecting "On" enables the function. The projector will automatically turn on when power is supplied via the power cord.IO Power OnSelecting "On" to enables this function. Laser Mode	Sets the brightness mode.·Normal: Increases the brightness.·Eco.: Dims the projector light source which will lower power consumption and extend the light source life.·User: Memorize user's settings.
User	Use to adjust the brightness to your desired level.
High Altitude Mode	Choose "On" to turn on the High Altitude mode. When this function is turned on, the projector fans operate at full speed continuously to cool down the projector's temperature.
Status Display When	"On" is selected, the status will be displayed.
Control	HDMI CECSelecting "On" allows synchronized power ON/OFF operation between the projector and a CEC-compatible device connected to the HDMI/MHL port of the projector.This function is only available for the HDMI/MHL port.Projector IDSets the remote control ID for this projector. 6 Image has vertical flickering bar	•Use "Frequency" to make an adjustment. Refer to the "Display settings" section for more information.•Check and reconfigure the display mode of your graphics card to make it compatible with the projector.
7 Image is out of focus	•Adjust the focus ring on the projector lens.•Make sure the projection screen is within the required distance.Refer to the "Optimizing Image Size and Distance" section for more information.
8 Image is stretched when displaying a "widescreen" DVD title	When you play a DVD encoded in anamorphic or 16:9 aspect ratio you may need to adjust the following settings:•If you play a 4:3 format DVD title, please change the format to 4:3 with the projector OSD.•If the image is still stretched, you will also need to adjust the aspect ratio. Set up the display format to 16:9 (wide) aspect ratio on your DVD player.
9 Image is too small or too large	Adjust the zoom lever on the top of the projector.Move the projector closer to or further from the screen.Press "MENU" on the control panel or remote control. Go to "Display settings" > "Aspect Ratio" and try different settings.
10 Image has slanted sides	If possible, reposition the projector so that it is centered on the screen and below the bottom of the screen.Perform keystone correction (if available).Press "MENU" on the control panel or remote control to open the OSD menu. Go to "Keystone" to make adjustments.
11 Image is reversed	Select "Default Adjustment" > "Projector Installation" on the OSD and adjust the projection direction.
