Introduction
Thank you for purchasing a StarTech.com Serial Express Card. This high performance RS232 adapter is specifically designed to connect standard serial devices to any notebook computer with available Express Card slots, and supports all serial port features as defined by RS232 specifications.

- To ensure proper installation, please copy the drivers and unzip them from the supplied driver CD, before installing the Express Card into your Notebook PC. The drivers are located in the following path: d:\IO\OXFORD\HI_SPEED, where d:\designates the CD/DVD-ROM drive. To simplify installation, please unzip the drivers to an easily accessible location, (such as the C: root directory), prior to connecting the Express Card.
- With the notebook PC powered on and fully booted, insert the Express Card into an available 34mm or 54mm Express Card slot on your notebook PC.
- This will launch the Add New Hardware Wizard which will guide you through the installation process. On the first screen, click Next to continue. On the screen that follows, select Install from a list or specific location (Advanced) and click Next to proceed.
- Select Include this location in the search, then click Browse to specify the driver location (C:\V409HS, see step #1) and click Next to continue.
- Click Next to continue, and click Finish to complete the installation.
- To verify that installation has completed successfully, right-click on My Computer and choose Manage. Select Device Manager and double click Ports.
- Right-click on the added COM port and select Properties. Select Data Rate - if the Crystal Frequency is 14.7456MHz, then your installation is complete. If the frequency is anything other than 14.7456MHz, click Detect Crystal Frequency to automatically switch to 14.7456MHz. Click OK to save this setting.
- (EC2S950) Repeat step 7 with the second added port.
Card Removal
- Upon inserting the Express Card, a Safely Remove Hardware wizard icon will appear in the taskbar. If you need to remove the card, please click on this icon prior to extraction.
