Carefully read these instructions before using this appliance for the first time.

- Keep this appliance out of reach of young children. This appliance is not intended for use by young children or infirm persons without supervision. Young children must be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.

- Do not immerse appliance in water. Electrical shock or malfunction may result.

- Caution: This kettle should be used with a residual current device (safety switch) to lessen the risk of scalding or other injury from hot water that may be ejected if the heating element ruptures. Disregard this notice if your home is fitted with a residual current safety switch.

BEFORE FIRST USE

Carefully unpack and check the appliance for damage. Confirm that all parts are received. If there is any damage to the appliance please return it to the retailer for replacement.

  1. Rinse the inside of the kettle with clean water to remove any impurities that may have accumulated.
    WARNING: DO NOT RINSE OUTSIDE & INSIDE OF THE KETTLE WITH WEAK ALKALINE DETERGENT
  2. Wipe the exterior of the appliance with a damp cloth, dry it with a dry towel.
  3. Ensure the removable filter is securely positioned in the holding slots inside the kettle.
  4. For first time use follow the instructions under operation for boiling water. Discard this water to ensure no impurities are left. The kettle is then ready for use.

OPERATION

  1. Place kettle power base on a stable level surface. Do not operate on an inclined surface. This kettle must only be used with the power base provided.

  2. Insert the supply plug into a suitable 230 \~240V power outlet socket.

  3. To open the lid, squeeze the lid lock / release knob buttons together. Holding the kettle firmly by the handle, carefully open the lid.

  4. Fill the kettle to the desired level with clean fresh water. WARNING: Do not fill the kettle past the maximum level as boiling water may be ejected from the kettle. Do not under fill as damage may result to the element. The element must be covered by water. The kettle may be filled through the spout or opened lid.

  5. Securely close the lid and lock in place. WARNING: This kettle will not automatically switch off after boiling and damage may result if the lid is not closed securely.

  6. Place the kettle carefully on the power base, aligning the power base supply and element control carefully.

  7. Turn mains supply on at the outlet socket.

  8. Depress the kettle On /Off switch to the 'I' position by pressing the switch lever downwards.

  9. The indicator lamp will glow, indicating the heating on.

  10. After boiling, the kettle will automatically switch off. Note: The kettle can be switched off at any time. Do not force the switch on immediately after it has boiled. Allow a cool down period of 5 minutes between each boil.

  11. Turn the power off at the outlet socket, and carefully remove the kettle from the base. Take special care when moving any appliance containing boiled water.

  12. Carefully pour the boiled water through the spout. Do not open the lid until all water has been poured and the water has cooled down.

MAINTENANCE AND CLEANING

  1. Keep this appliance and all accessories in a dry place when not in use.
  2. To clean the outer surface, wipe with a damp cloth. Dry with a dry towel. Do not immerse in water.
  3. Do not use harsh abrasives or solvents to clean the plastic parts as they may damage the plastic. Do not put any detergents or any cleaning agents inside the kettle.
  4. Do not leave in direct sunlight.
  5. Regularly clean the filter. To remove the filter simply grasp it and slide it upwards. Replace in reverse. Do not use this kettle without the filter in place.

DESCALING

Periodically remove any calcium build-up that may occur inside the appliance.

  1. Fill the kettle to approximately half way with clean water.
  2. Add approximately 30 ml of white vinegar to the kettle.
  3. Boil this mixture and allow to stand for up to 30 seconds. Re-boil if required.
  4. Discard of this water.
  5. Fill the kettle to the maximum level with clean water and boil. Discard this water to make sure that all remaining scale and vinegar have been removed from the kettle.
