USER MANUAL Beta XP Ten INFINITY
Thank you for purchasing an Infinity Beta XP One or Ten 2-Way Passive Crossover. The Beta XP One lets you fine-tune the highs, precisely directing power between your choice of the Beta Four, Five, or Six midrange speaker and a Beta One tweeter. The Beta XP Ten provides the same functionally, except you'd use a Kappa 10t tweeter instead.
Both models feature a sophisticated Linkwitz-Riley 4th-order acoustic design with near-perfect phase characteristics and steep, 24 dB per octave, filter slopes for cleanly-defined sound. What's more, with their transparent case design, quality components, and black-and-gold circuit design, these Beta crossovers look as great as they sound. They even feature gold-plated terminals for rock-solid signal transfer.
Each Infinity Beta XP One/Ten crossover is covered by our limited parts and labor warranty (see the enclosed warranty card). Keep your original dated bill of sale in case warranty service is required. For a detailed warranty statement, contact Customer Service at the address below.
IMPORTANT: Installation of automotive stereo components can require extensive experience in dealing with a variety of mechanical and electrical procedures. Although these instructions explain how to install a Beta XP One or Ten crossover in a general sense, they do not show the exact installation methods for your particular vehicle. If you do not have the experience, do not attempt the installation yourself, but instead ask your Authorized Infinity Car Audio Dealer about professional installation options.
PRECAUTIONS
- Turn off all audio systems and other electrical devices before you start. Disconnect the (−) negative lead from your vehicle's battery.
- At the installation site, locate and make a note of all fuel lines, hydraulic brake lines, and electrical wiring. Use extreme caution when cutting or drilling in and around these areas.
- Check clearances on both sides of a planned mounting surface before drilling any holes or installing any screws. Always wear protective eyewear when using any tools.
INSTALLATION
The Beta XP One/Ten crossover can be mounted in any convenient location. However, do not mount a crossover in an exposed outside area and place it nearer to the speakers than to the amplifier.
- At the mounting site, use the crossover base to mark two screw holes. Make sure the intended site provides necessary clearance for the mounting screws. Use a hole punch for drilling guides. If necessary, clear away any carpet or other material prior to drilling.
- Use a drill with a 1/8" bit to drill two holes for the crossover and fasten it to the site with the supplied mounting screws.
- Observing correct polarity, connect speaker wires from the amplifier output and the mid-woofer and tweeter terminals to the appropriate crossover terminals, as shown in Figure 1 (on other side).
- Set the Tweeter and Woofer controls fully clockwise (refer to Figure 2 on other side), reconnect the battery, and turn on the audio system.
- For lower high frequencies, turn the Tweeter control counter-clockwise. If installed mid-range speakers are on-axis (to listening position), leave the Woofer control at the full clockwise position. For off-axis mid-range speakers, turn the Woofer control counter-clockwise. Experiment with the settings until you find a pleasing sound contour for your vehicle's installation.
