How do I cook soft-boiled eggs?

Use the measuring cup to fill water to the 'Soft' mark corresponding to the number of eggs. Pour water into heating bowl, prick the top of each egg with the pin on the measuring cup, place eggs in tray, cover with lid, and switch on. The unit will turn off automatically when done.

Can I poach eggs without the poaching cups?

No, poaching cups are required for poached eggs. Never place eggs directly into the heating bowl.

How do I clean the egg cooker?

Unplug and allow to cool. Wash the lid and egg tray in warm soapy water or in the dishwasher. Wipe the heating bowl and base with a damp cloth. Do not immerse the base in water.

Why does my egg crack during boiling?

You must prick the top of each egg with the pin on the measuring cup before cooking. This allows steam to escape and prevents cracking.

What do the markings on the measuring cup mean?

The cup has markings for the number of eggs (1-7) and desired doneness: Soft, Medium, Hard. Fill water to the corresponding level.

Is the egg cooker safe to leave unattended?

The cooker has automatic shut-off, but it is recommended not to leave it unattended as it produces hot steam.

Can I use the egg cooker if the cord is damaged?

No. The cord must be replaced by the manufacturer or a qualified person to avoid hazard. Do not use if damaged.

How do I remove limescale build-up?

Use white vinegar and a cloth to clean the heating bowl. You can also run a cycle with vinegar solution (diluted) without eggs, then rinse thoroughly.

What is the warranty period?

The Wahl ZX945 comes with a 2-year guarantee against defects in material and workmanship from the date of purchase.

Can I cook more than 7 eggs at once?

No, the capacity is up to 7 eggs. Overloading may cause uneven cooking or malfunction.

TO REDUCE THE RISK OF FIRE AND INJURY

1. Before use, check that the voltage of your wall outlet corresponds to that shown on the data plate of the appliance.
2. Do not place the appliance near a heat source or in a hot oven, as serious damage may occur.
3. Never leave the appliance in operation unattended.

5. Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance. Keep the appliance and its cord out of the reach of children.

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

Before first use

1. Using warm water and washing up liquid, wash all removable parts, rinse and dry. Wipe clean the inside of the heating bowl and dry.
2. Route the cable so it does not overhang and can't be tripped over or caught accidentally.
3. Place the base unit onto a stable surface.

BOILED EGGS

1. Decide how many eggs you want to cook and how you want to cook them, hard, medium or soft boiled. Then take your measuring cup and using the markings fill with the appropriate amount of cold water to the level shown (see diagram on page 3). Please note that the more eggs you cook the less water you require.
2. Pour water into the heating bowl.
3. Before placing eggs in the egg tray, prick the top of the eggs using the pin at the bottom of the measuring cup, this will prevent the eggs from cracking during boiling.

WARNING: THE PIN AT THE BOTTOM OF

THE MEASURE CUP IS SHARP, TAKE CARE TO AVOID INJURIES

1. Place egg tray on top of the heating bowl filled with water.
2. Place the eggs into the egg tray, making sure the end that has been pricked is at the top.
3. Place lid on top of eggs.
4. Plug in the appliance.
5. Press the ‘On’ switch, the light will be lit and boiling will commence. (If the indicator light is on before pressing the power button, it indicates the egg boiler is already switched on).
6. When the eggs are ready the light will go out.
7. Remove the lid carefully to avoid contact with steam or hot surfaces.
8. Immediately after cooking, the eggs will be extremely hot, care should be taken when removing them.
9. Allow the egg boiler to cool down before reusing.

IMPORTANT: Always ensure the unit is switched off and unplugged immediately after use.

POACHED EGGS

1. Using the markings on the measuring cup fill with cold water to the Medium 6-7 mark.
2. Pour water into the heating bowl.
3. Break an egg into each poaching cup.
4. Place the egg tray on top of the heating bowl

1. Place the poaching cups onto the egg tray.
2. Place the lid on top.
3. Press ‘On’ switch, the light will be lit and poaching will commence. (if the indicator light is on before pressing the power button, it indicates the egg boiler is already switched on).

5. Remove the lid carefully to avoid contact with steam or hot surfaces.

WARNING: NEVER PLACE THE POACHING

CUPS DIRECTLY ONTO THE HEATING BOWL.

IMPORTANT: Always ensure the unit is unplugged immediately after use.

CLEANING AND CARE

1. Unplug the cord from the outlet.
2. Allow to cool.
3. Wash the egg tray and lid in warm soapy water, rinse and dry.
4. The lid and egg tray can be washed in the dishwasher.
5. Wipe the heating bowl and main housing with a damp cloth.

WARNING: TO REDUCE THE RISK OF

ELECTRICAL SHOCK, DO NOT IMMERSE BASE IN WATER.

TIP: Limescale build up can be removed from the heating bowl using white vinegar and a cloth.

WARNING: IF THE SUPPLY CORD IS DAMAGED IT MUST BE REPLACED BY THE MANUFACTURERS SERVICE AGENT OR A SIMILARLY QUALIFIED PERSON IN ORDER TO AVOID A HAZARD.

The wires in the mains lead of this egg boiler are coloured in accordance to the following code:

Blue Neutral(N) Brown live(L) Yellow/Green(E) This appliance is fitted with a 3 pin plug which has a 3amp fuse fitted.

If the plug supplied is not suitable for your socket or becomes damaged, it should be cut off and disposed of, and a suitable plug fitted as detailed below.

As the colours of the wires in the mains lead of this egg boiler may not correspond with the colour markings identifying the terminals in your plug, proceed as follows.

The wire, which is coloured BLUE, must be connected to the terminal in the plug which is marked with the letter 'N' or coloured BLACK or BLUE.

The wire, which is coloured BROWN, must

be connected to the terminal in the plug which is marked with the letter ‘L’ or coloured RED or BROWN.

The wire, which is coloured GREEN and YELLOW, must be connected to the terminal which is marked with the letter ‘E’ or by the EARTH SYMBOL or coloured GREEN or GREEN and YELLOW THIS PRODUCT MUST BE EARTHED.

Should this product become defective during the guarantee period, return it to the store of purchase together with your proof of purchase for repair or replacement.

Alternatively within the guarantee period you can return the product to Wahl (UK) Ltd who will repair any such defect or elect to replace the product or any part of it, without charge, provided that there is proof of purchase. Should a replacement be offered this will not extend the original guarantee period.
