Frequently Asked Questions - SJ 2150 Per la Vita ECG

How do I assemble the ECG SJ 2150 Per la Vita juicer?
Place the bowl on the motor base, insert the filter basket, and lock the lid. Ensure the locking arm is properly engaged before use. Refer to the manual for detailed steps.
Can I juice citrus fruits with this juicer?
Yes, but it is recommended to peel thick-skinned citrus like oranges and grapefruits first to avoid bitterness. The juicer handles soft fruits efficiently.
How do I clean the juicer after use?
Unplug the device and disassemble all removable parts. Rinse immediately under running water and use the included brush to clean the filter. Most parts are dishwasher safe (top rack).
What should I do if the juicer stops working during operation?
The juicer has an overheat protection feature. Turn it off, unplug, and let it cool for 15-30 minutes. Check for blockages or overloading before restarting.
Can I juice wheatgrass or leafy greens?
This juicer is designed for hard fruits and vegetables; leafy greens may not yield high juice. For best results, roll leafy greens into balls and mix with harder produce.
What is the maximum operating time?
Do not run the juicer continuously for more than 2 minutes. Let it rest for at least 2 minutes before resuming to prevent overheating.
How do I adjust the pulp consistency?
The pulp consistency is fixed; use the speed setting: low speed for soft fruits, high speed for hard vegetables. The internal design determines pulp dryness.
Is the juicer freezer-safe? Can I freeze juice?
The juicer itself is not freezer-safe. However, you can freeze the extracted juice in airtight containers for up to 3 months. Leave space for expansion.
What spare parts are available for the SJ 2150?
Replacement filter baskets, lids, and pulp containers are available from ECG customer service or authorized dealers. Use only original parts for safety.
Does the juicer have a warranty?
Yes, the ECG SJ 2150 Per la Vita comes with a 2-year warranty covering manufacturing defects. Keep your purchase receipt for service.

USING THE APPLIANCE

Before first use

Wash all the parts, which come into contact with foods before first use or after a long-term storage.

Assembling the appliance

  1. Put the base with motor ⑤ on a flat surface, for example on a kitchen worktop and make sure that it stands firmly on all four suction feet.
  2. Insert the auger of the juicer ② in the rotary strainer ③, turn it and push until you hear a snap.
  3. Align the red point on the rotary strainer with the red point on the juicer bowl ④ and insert the rotary strainer in the bowl until you hear it snap. Make sure that the silicone seal sits well in its place.
  4. Insert the assembled upper part of the juicer on the base ⑤ and turn it so that the arrows on the upper part and on the base are exactly opposite each other.
  5. Insert the top cover on the juicer bowl ① and turn it clockwise until the mark Ⅱ on the cover is exactly opposite the red point on the juicer bowl ④.
  6. Turn the entire assembled upper part clockwise. The connected arrows again indicate the correct position.
  7. Insert in their places into the base the containers for pulp ⑥ and juice⑦.

Preparation of fruits and vegetables for juicing

• Always wash thoroughly the fruits and vegetables prior to jucing.
- It is not necessary to remove seeds, kernels or thin peel before insertion in the juicer.
- You have to peel fruits with thick peel, for example oranges or lemons, before juicing. It is very important to remove all the rind because even a slight portion of the rind can pass an unpleasant taste to the juice.
- It is also necessary to remove large pits, for example from plums and apricots to prevent damage to the appliance.
- Large fruits should be cut to pieces to pass through the filling opening of the feeding tube.

Juicing

  1. Before you plug in the juicer in an electrical outlet, make sure that the on/off switch is in the off position.
  2. Turn the juicer on by turning the switch in the position „ON“ (forward) or „R“ (reverse), see the picture lower.

ECG SJ 2150 Per la Vita - Juicing - 1
0 (off) ON (forward) R (reverse)

  1. Forward operation is used for juicing, the reverse operation is used when a fruit or vegetable gets stuck in the juicer. Wait with putting the juicer in reverse until the juicer stops entirely.
  2. Put the selected fruits and vegetables gradually in the feed tube and use the pusher to move the individual pieces downwards. Never use fingers, kitchen tools or other objects!
  3. Long pieces of vegetables, for example carrots, should be placed in the feeding tube thin side first.
  4. Use only a slight pressure on the pusher when pushing the fruits and vegetables through the feed tube. If you would apply too much pressure, you would squeeze less juice and could damage the appliance..
  5. Before you pull out the pusher and add more pieces of fruit, stop the appliance to prevent splashing the juice.
  6. Watch the pulp collector and stop the juicing before it becomes full.
  7. ALWAYS stop the juicer before you remove the top cover by turning the switch to "0" position.

Attention: Do not operate the juicer for longer than 2 minutes. After 2 minutes of running, let the appliance cool down for 5 minutes before next use. Do not operate the appliance more than 30 minutes in total time.

Tips and recommendations

  • If you line the pulp container with a plastic bag, you will make the cleaning of the appliance easier.
  • Use fresh fruits and vegetables – they contain more juice.
  • Among the fruits and vegetables suitable for juicing are pineapple, apples, cucumber, celery, carrots, melons, tomatoes and most citrus fruits.
  • Individual apple varieties have juice differing in taste and consistency. When trying out various combinations, you can find your favourite flavor.
  • Fibrous fruits and vegetables with a very firm flesh, such as banana, mango, papaya and avocado, are not suitable for juicing because the result is often mashed fruit instead of juice.
  • The juice should be consumed immediately after squeezing, because fresh juice on the air quickly oxidizes and loses important nutritional value and the taste might also deteriorate.
  • Fresh apple juice exposed to air becomes rapidly brown. To prevent colour change, serve immediately after juicing or add a few drops of lemon juice.
  • Do not forget that the pulp may be used in pies, to cook vegetarian lasagna, in muffins, etc.
