Frequently Asked Questions - ST10030N SWAN

How do I use the defrost function?
Press the carriage lever down, then press the Frozen Bread symbol (snowflake). The button lights up to confirm. The toaster will adjust time to defrost and toast frozen bread.
Can I reheat toast that has gone cold?
Yes, press the carriage lever down, then press the Reheat symbol (typically a circle with arrow). The button lights up to confirm. The toaster will reheat without further browning.
How do I cancel toasting midway?
Press the triangular symbol button at any time during the toasting process. The toaster will stop and the toast will pop up.
Why does my toaster produce a smell on first use?
This is normal. It is caused by the evaporation of light oils used in manufacture. It only occurs on the first use and does not affect the taste of toast.
How do I clean the toaster?
Unplug and let cool completely. Remove the crumb tray from the bottom and discard crumbs. Wipe exterior with a soft cloth moistened with mild detergent. Never immerse in water.
What should I do if the carriage lever does not stay down?
Ensure the toaster is connected to the mains supply. The lever will only lock when power is available. Also check that bread slices are not too thin or jammed.
What is the correct browning setting for fresh bread?
Start with setting 3 (mid-range). Adjust higher for darker toast, lower for lighter. Personal preference may vary.
Can I use an extension cord?
It is not recommended. If necessary, use a cord rated for at least the appliance power (approx. 10 A) and avoid tripping hazards.
What is the toaster's guarantee?
Swan offers a 2-year guarantee against faulty materials or workmanship, valid in the UK and Eire. Proof of purchase required.
How do I dispose of the toaster at end of life?
Do not dispose in household rubbish. Take it to a local Civic Amenity site for recycling under the WEEE directive. Visit www.recyclemore.co.uk for information.
