How do I change the default password on the built-in switch?

Open the switch's web page (default IP 192.168.50.1). Log in with username admin and password system. Go to Admin > Security, enter new password, confirm, and reboot the switch.

How do I reset the switch to factory default settings?

Open the switch's web page, go to Admin > Maintenance, click 'Reset to factory default', then reboot the switch. If you forgot the IP or password, contact Axis support.

How do I open the switch's web page?

From the desktop, open the Getting Started application and go to PoE Switch, then click 'Go to PoE switch website'. Alternatively, enter the switch's IP address (default 192.168.50.1) in a browser.

How do I configure VLANs?

Open the switch's web page, go to VLAN tab, click Add. Select ports, uplinks, or CPU connections to include. Each member can belong to only one VLAN at a time. Optionally add a description, then reboot the switch. Requires firmware 1.4.5.418 or higher.

How do I enable HTTPS for encrypted traffic?

Open the switch's web page, go to HTTPS > Manage certificate. Generate a self-signed certificate or upload matching bundle, certificate, and key files. Then go to Administration, select HTTPS and disable HTTP. Reboot the switch.

How do I backup and restore the switch settings?

To backup: open the switch's web page, go to Admin > Maintenance, click 'Backup settings', and save the .gz file. To restore: go to same page, click 'Browse', select the backup file (check model name and serial number), click 'Restore'. The switch will reboot. Note: username and password are not included in backup.

How do I improve security for unused ports?

Open the switch's web page, go to Overview > Port status. For each port you want to disable, turn off 'Port enabled'. Disabled ports cannot send or receive data, improving security.

What is the default IP address of the switch?

The default static IP address is 192.168.50.1 with subnet mask 255.255.255.0. You can change it via the Network > Configuration page.

How do I assign IP addresses to cameras using the DHCP server?

Open the switch's web page, go to Network > DHCP server. Enter Start IP address, End IP address, Subnet mask, Gateway, DNS, and Lease length. Enable DHCP, then save and reboot the switch. Cameras will receive IP addresses from the specified range.

How do I update the firmware on the switch?

Open the switch's web page, go to Admin > Maintenance > Upgrade firmware. Upload the new firmware file and follow prompts. The switch will reboot after upgrade. Ensure you have the correct firmware version.

TheAXISCameraStationS20ApplianceSeriescomeswithanintegratedPoweroverEthernet(PoE)switch.Youconfigureandmanage thebuilt-inswitchfromawebpage.

The purpose of the switch histosegregatetrafficonthenetworksothatsecuritycamerasandrelatedtrafficmanagedbytheswitch (PoEportsandU1networkconnections) are not shared with other networks.

Theswitch'spowermanagementfollowtheserules:

• Eachportreservespoweraccordingtotheconnectedpowereddevice'sPoEclass.
• If the actual power consumption for given port exceed the reserved power for that port, it will shutdown.
• Portswillshutdownwhentheactualpowerconsumptionforallportsexceedsthetotalamountofpowerthatthe powersupplycandeliver.Theportsarethenshutdownaccordingtotheportsprioritywherealowerportnumbermeanshigherpriority.

HowtoaddaVLAN

WerecommendtocreateaseparateVLANforendpointsotherthandevicesbelongingtothesurveillancesystem.Eachmember of theVLANcanonlycommunicatewithothermembersoftheVLANwiththeexceptionoftheswitch'swebpage.EveryVLAN,ifits endpointisenabledtoincludeanIPaddressinthesamesubnetastheswitch'swebpage,canbrowsetotheswitch'swebpage(ifyou havethecorrectcredentials).Inthisway,switchadministratorscanneverbelocked-outfromtheswitch.

Example

You could create a second VLAN for IP phones, printers, or computers sharing the same switch. The default VLAN (VLAN1) would then be used strictly by the security system. In this way, you prevent traffic from a separate network with different purposes to include with a general access to security equipment or access security traffic and vice versa.

YoucanimplementHTTPStoaddatransportlayerencryption(TLS)ondatathatpassesfromthebrowsertotheswitch.This is importantwhenyouresettheswitch'spasswordtopreventnon-authorizedusersfromobtainingtheswitch'spasswordthrough unencryptedtraffic.

The devices support sthreemodes for implementing HTTPS: HTTPonly, HTTPor HTTPS (based on the URL selected), or HTTPS only. If you want to encrypt traffic, were recommend to disable HTTPandonly use HTTPS.
