Frequently Asked Questions - SL-SW967V PANASONIC

Why does the unit not play?
The HOLD function may be on (slide the HOLD switch to cancel). Check that the batteries are not depleted, the disc is inserted correctly and is not scratched or dirty. If the lens is dirty, clean it with a blower (recommended: SZZP1038C). Moisture on the lens requires waiting about an hour. Also, the unit may not read a track if shaken strongly during reading.
No sound or noisy sound?
Ensure the headphone plug is inserted firmly and wipe it with a clean cloth. Scratched or dirty discs can cause noise. For MP3, poor recording quality may cause interruptions. Keep the unit away from mobile telephones to avoid interference.
Play does not resume from the last stopped point?
The resume function does not work during random play. It may also not work under certain conditions. If you open the lid while the unit is off, the resume function may be cancelled.
Cannot search through tracks on an MP3 disc?
Search is not possible on discs containing MP3 files. You can only skip to the next or previous track, but not search within a track.
Why can't I change the Digital Re-master or anti-skip mode?
If you press the skip buttons [+►►|] or [–|◄◄] before pressing [MEMORY/RECALL], you cannot change the mode. Press [MEMORY/RECALL] first while stopped, then select the mode.
Digital Re-master does not seem to work?
The Digital Re-master effect may not be noticeable depending on the type of MP3 recording. It works best with material that has lost high-frequency information during compression.
Radio reception is noisy?
Keep the unit away from televisions and other tuners. The AM antenna is inside the unit, so holding it may increase noise. For FM, extend the headphone cord (which serves as the antenna) fully.
Cannot charge the rechargeable batteries?
You must use the specified Panasonic Ni-Cd rechargeable batteries (P-3GAVA/2B). Insert two batteries, turn the unit off, then connect the AC adaptor. The battery indicator will scroll while charging.
The battery indicator does not appear or is incorrect?
The indicator does not appear when the AC adaptor is connected. It may also appear incorrectly under certain conditions. The indicator level may temporarily drop when switching modes, but returns to normal during play.
What should I do if the unit stops working?
Disconnect then reconnect all power sources (batteries and AC adaptor). If the problem persists, consult the troubleshooting guide in the manual or contact Panasonic service.

Do not play your headphones or earphones at a high volume. Hearing experts advise against continuous extended play.

If you experience a ringing in your ears, reduce volume or discontinue use.

Do not use while operating a motorized vehicle. It may create a traffic hazard and is illegal in many areas.

You should use extreme caution or temporarily discontinue use in potentially hazardous situations.

Even if your headphones or earphones are the open-air type designed to let you hear outside sounds, don't turn up the volume so high that you can't hear what's around you.

Sound can be deceiving. Over time your hearing “comfort level” adapts to higher volumes of sound. So what sounds “normal” can actually be loud and harmful to your hearing.

Guard against this by setting your equipment at a safe level BEFORE your hearing adapts.

To establish a safe level:

  • Start your volume control at a low setting.
  • Slowly increase the sound until you can hear it comfortably and clearly, and without distortion.
Once you have established a comfortable sound level:
  • Leave it there.

Allergies

Discontinue use if you experience discomfort with the earphones or any other parts that directly contact your skin. Continued use may cause rashes or other allergic reactions.
